1. I'm still interested Laurence, have been out all day.
2. Bass now sold through Phil at Bassgear Thanks Phil
3. which position do you have the contour switch? down is flat, up is scooped
4. I can't get a bad sound out the MB200 so I guess the planet needs a tweak
5. Just happened to mention to Clarky that I needed a certain set of strings that were no longer available from Thomann. He told me he had a spare set and kindly posted them to me next day as he was en route to the hairport. What a gent!
6. Greg made a 450 mile round trip to my house this week so we could trade basses. It was a pleasure to meet him, he's a nice guy and a great player. Hope you're as happy with the deal as I am Greg. Thanks mate.
7. Is that Gary from Leeds re-located by any chance?
8. Clarky, something to check is the positioning of the Planet, as with most wing slot pups orientation can alter the sound dramatically. I had to roll off bass and low mid on mine! I.I.r.c. yours is a loose fit that requires a paper or card shim, maybe you need a tighter fit
9. Got the Kolstein from Greg on Tuesday and took it to a gig that night. Plugged the Planet into the MB200 + EpiUL110 and got a good sound but was fighting the feedback monster a bit. (stayed up til 2am playing the bass after the gig) Had a bit of spare time tonight so did a bit of experimenting. Got an Upton Rev solo 11 out of my bits box and it fitted perfectly. First thing I noticed was nice woody tone with no feedback. Played through MB200 / Contra Ex, Genz Shuttle 38t, Bose Copact, and MB210 combo.and tried Plat Pro + Headway They all sound good in the house but I can see a lot of trial and error ahead on gigs. The Eminence has been so easy to get a usable sound but the Kolstein is far superior soundwise, it just needs taming! So back to the MB200, it sounds great to me and other ears in the house have commented how natural it sounde. Clarky, did you try it with the Wizzy 10?
10. Looks like it's upside down
11.
It sounds like a good trade for all. I'm looking forward to playing the new toy. Enjoy it Keith!
I am, I gigged it last night and was up 'til 2am playing it! If you show me yours I'll show you mine
12. Kolstein is mine Cheers Greg
13. So the MB200 is catching on Has anyone got the MB112 combo yet?
14. I'd put a link for this in the upright bass bass for sale section if I were you.
15.
http://www.thomann.d...541f2fc6c175ea7 £250 delivered with a 15" cab.
16.
Maybe its larger brother, MB500, is the answer (specs below):
That's more or less the MB210 combo head, I've not used mine with a 14 piece or added an extension cab so I can't help there. I just know they work for me as doublers.
17. I'm using GK MB200 for most of my gigs. It's great with upright & slab, weighs nothing & is cheap as chips to buy. There's an aux in if you base a preamp for upright, the Eminence works well without a preamp, simples! There's a second hand one on here for under £200, they're only about £210 new! For louder gigs I use the GK MB210 combo, again it works well with both upright and fender. I've had Markbass, Doubler & Acoustic Image & Genz Benz & Phil Jones, still prefer the little GK
18. All being well this bass will be mine within a few days, Greg & I have agreed a trade. Geoff, Clarky has one and lives in London. He might be happy to let you see/try his sometime.
19. Could be up for a set of these depending on the outcome of a pending trade next week!
20. Is that Kai that worked for Turner violins? He was a nice guy!
21.
Hello I would like to see/try your bass for sale, where are you? I live in Beckenham south London, my name is Geoff Gascoyne my number is 07956 283900, hope to hear from you soon Best wishes Geoff
Hi Geoff, welcome to the forum. We've not actually met but I did call you out of the blue a couple of years ago to ask about a certain make of string you used on a Yamaha SLB200 you used on a tour. I recall you were very helpful and friendly and offered good advice. Hope you enjoy basschat and become a regular chatter! Good luck with the Bryant Keith
22. I've fond memories of visits to Electric Wood. When I took my first 5 string in for a free m.o.t. as Pete called it, he asked if there were any problems with the bass. I told him the only problem was some lacquer wear from my thumb nail, could anything be done? He replied "yeah, we'll have to chop your f...ing thumb off!" R.I.P.
