1. A copy of my old band's 12" single went for NZ$450 on New Zealand's version of eBay a few years ago. Madness, especially as I don't have enough copies to give one to each of my kids.
2. Check us out on www.motorcityblue.wix.com/motorcityblue and let me know if we suit.
3. It will be interesting to hear what you think of the GK. I love mine but I've not really used valve amps for bass so don't know what I'm missing. Interestingly I have the same experience as you regarding fingers/picks. I've always used fingers but occasionally I use a pick for a song for the sound, and I always end up throwing it away halfway through the first verse as it just doesn't have the power or control. I really like that badge you had made for your cab - I've just built a guitar combo and would love something like that. What size is it? Is it a standard finish (looking at the ordering options on the webpage)?
4. Would love to go but was out late at the Brudenall last night for Eeagulls and the remarkable Rent Boys. Enjoy the gig.
5. Had a great holiday in Delray Beach some 21 years ago - enjoy!
6. Tempting, I'm supposed to be out in Leeds on Friday. What time are you likely to be on?
7. I wondered where this had gone. Nice bass, I've been admiring it for years!
8. Pretty sure I bought Lozz's MB Fusion. Fantastic tone and very loud through by 2 Barefaced Compacts. I couldn't imagine ever needing the 800 watt version. If you're ever down Harrogate way you're welcome to try it.
9. I stopped piano lessons as a kid having done grade 3. I never stopped playing though, and in my 40s put myself through grades 4, 5 and 6. Well worth it, in opinion, but I wish I could find the time to get grades 7 and 8 done.
10. I saw Pere Ubu last year and was very impressed with Michele Temple, very disciplined playing on her lovely G&L Asat. You can see her in action here from just a few nights ago: http://culturebox.francetvinfo.fr/sons-dhiver-2014-pere-ubu-147937 You've got to skip through Mr Thomas's stream of consciousness ravings for a minute or two before they start.
11. The Sonic Research one is excellent, best I've used for speed, tracking and accuracy, but it's not cheap.
12. Mad legal minutia aside, I hope he can trace it. I've sometimes thought of launching a similar search for my Rickenbacker 360 guitar that was stolen in around 1981. Not to retrive it so much (its probably in a innocent third party's ownership by now) but just to find out what happened to it. The difference is I know who stole it (he admitted it in a published interview apparently) so there might a be a reasonable chance of success.
13. Someone mentioned Vincent Gill -check out The Time Jumpers featuring him and Dawn Sears and lots of other great players. Their song "Faint of Heart" is one of the best new songs I've heard in years. I also agree with those who say lol to the past - Hank Williams wrote some absolute classics.
14. Rob Weinbrock in Sowerby Bridge did an excellent job reconditioning my Fender Vibrolux Reverb. He's a valve amp guy really but I'm sure he'd be worth talking to about your GK. His rates were pretty reasonable too. See here
15. Nothing but a tuner for me.
16. My son is 15 and turning into a great guitarist. He said to me the other day he'd learnt to play 'Holiday in Cambodia' and lo and behold he could play it perfectly, leading to an afternoon of jamming old and new tunes. Nothing better.
17. Yum indeed. Wrong colour for you, Michael.
18. Thanks Pedro, and your team - I'm sure you have everyone's support.
19. I'll take the LPB1 please - I can pick up fro you in Leeds (I work just near Bridgewater Place) if that's more convenient.
20. Have a look at the gig list on our website for some venues (link in my sig, below). We're not a pure blues band - my guitarist plays in a more authentic Chicago blues outfit - worth checking the places they play (these are pretty much all Yorkshire based apart from when they play festivals) - their Facebook page is here.
21. I did a Monte Allum mod to a Boss Compressor and was very happy with the results - it's easy to do and seemed to really clean up the sound.
22.
and Alan Lancaster, but go and get it checked
And Mike Watt. I've got an old Musicmaster which is a joy to play, albeit a little limited sound-wise. Its the one that gets picked up most often at home though.
23. My guitarist has started using a Blues Jr in place of his Twin and has never sound better. Lots of good ideas here - I particularly like the acoustic rehearsal one. Hope it works out Neil. If all else fails, I play a little rockabilly guitar...
24. I've seen them a couple of times at Ripley Blues Club in the last few years, with Derek the Draw. The way they work together as a band is really exceptional, and Derek is a very engaging front man. Well worth making the effort to see them, even if you're not that familiar with their stuff.
25. Morning all, my little blues/rock/soul combo are playing our last gig of the year at The Albert in Yeadon tonight from 9ish. Come along for some Fender + GK + Barefaced action. Cheers, Martin
