1. I had one but got rid, it didn't have enough presence.
2. My YOB as well! Would make a great 50th present. Good luck with the sale.
3. Another happy customer, small purchase (a capo) and all very slick.
4.
I think there is a Ron Carter tune in there somewhere.... Garry
Herbie Flowers, surely...
5. Yep, just do it, there's some good stuff there.
6. I have one which I use as a back up, for some rehearsals, and as a practice unit as you describe. It's excellent, and a no brainer at the price.
7. Genres/labels are very subjective, you just have to listen to the music and see if its what you want to play. To me 'indie' isn't really a genre, many styles of music can be described as indie, which I would interpret as 'independent, or outside the norm', which is again entirely subjective.
8. Bobbass4k's edged Bilbo's for me, just. I liked Skol's too. Well done to everyone.
9. That sounds beautiful, great playing too. Wish I had the cash.
10. My blues/soul/r&b/rock combo, Motor City Blue, playing at the Highfield in Idle tonight, 26th April, from about 9pm. Come and say hello if you're about. My dual Barefaced Compact rig will be in action. Cheers.

GK MB Series

I agree re the upper mids (and the lower mids). I had a 700RB combo before the MB Fusion / MB200 and I'm sure its the 4 band tone control that gives all of these amps the great sound they have. To Ed S, I' going to be in Sheffield in the evening of 10 May and could possible let you have the MB Fusion to try for a couple of hours - get in touch if you're interested.

GK MB Series

TomBowlus says something here but I'm sure I can remember more - probably in that very long thread or the earlier one (link in post 1).

GK MB Series

I have a MB Fusion and a MB200 and like them both. I'm not sure how close they are tonally, I tend to use them in very different environments. I seem to remember reading a thread on Talkbass where someone was saying that the MB200 is quite different to all the other MB series amps.
14. I've got a Gallien Krueger MB Fusion and previously had an Ampeg PF500 - I don't play with heavy distortion, just a touch from a DHA VT1 in some songs, but I'm sure both would suit your needs. They're both very loud and nice, but I preferred the tone of the GK in the end.
15. I used to take a tuba to school on my bike, over the handlebars, many years ago.
16. That's a great tribute.
17. Another useful avenue is to get along to a local jam night. You can make a few contacts and build up the courage to get up and have a go. I concur with everyone else who has said playing with others is the best way forward - it will aid your development at a rate of 10 to 1 compared with learning on your own imo.
18. Might pay to say where you are, especially as you prefer local pickup - sorry if you have and I've missed it.
19. I think its because there's never been a 'golden' era, but that's because there's never been a poor era. Rickenbacker's build quality has been consistently high so people will buy a new one with confidence. There's no need to pay a premium for a vintage one in all but the most exceptional circumstances.
20. I'll take it (assuming it'll take a P). PM om the way.
21. And wow, that Derek Trucks solo is beautiful, posted further up.
22. Pino's work with John Mayer and Steve Jordan is fantastic - he never overplays, and his timing is absolutely on the button. Their version of I Got a Woman is a great example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RckfbOm84Qc
23. I have a MB Fusion and its a fantastic amp, light, powerful and with great tonal flexibility - I love the 4 band eq. Previously I've had 700RB which was also great. No real experience with Genz stuff I'm afraid.
24. I did the originals thing in my youth, and tbh the fame, fortune, soulless massive gigs, endless groupies, ridiculous riders etc just got boring. A few blues covers and the Dog and Duck is heaven now.... I'm with Wot on this - its all music. Unfortunately I don't play any originals at the moment, but you never know. I'm another 50 yo (later this year) and I don't discount playing with younger musicians in order to rekindle the creative spark.
25. Great gig at a biker gang's clubhouse near Leeds. Scary to look at, but very friendly crowd, and looks like we got some more clubhouse bookings out of it. The MB Fusion and 2 Compacts sounded brilliant, and I used the DHA bass drive a bit too.
