I tried this a few years ago. Decided 5 strings suits me better as after 10 minutes I regretted it and missed having the G string. Worth a go though. Plenty of people don't miss it.

Saw a pic of this a few days ago when Warwick posted it on their Facebook. Sure did pick some pretty woods!

I like really bright sounding roundwounds but I find if I use Elixir strings they tend to sound "fresh" for a good 6 months before I notice any real decrease in sound quality. When I used other brands though I found myself changing regularly (practically whenever I could afford a new pack of strings). It's all relevant though. If you don't like a less bright zingy sound there's no real need to change strings often.

Very nice (and very jealous)! How's the preamp? I'm half tempted to add one to my thumb bass.

My Thumb 5 NT- The grain on it seems to pop out more in worse lighting. Which I don't know if I find is a good thing or not. Either way, it sounds exactly like a Thumb bass should!

If it's not fun or paying bills why continue? Life is too short to spend doing things you don't want to.

I think there are certain things certain basses just won't be able to do. A precision is never going to sound like a Warwick Thumb etc. If I were in a financial position to do so I'd have a look at everything I play and find out what exactly I need/want and buy/sell accordingly.

Look pretty damn tacky to me.

When I used a dingwall I was heckled between songs at every gig. One guy even asked how much it cost and where I got it from mid set!

Defintlely the prettiest of the Ibanez models around.

Depends so much on so many factors for me but a few that really stand out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYhfH59OLC8 - Tone is excellent to me but I do wish it was a little higher in the mix at certain points http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh4YRHTJLAs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBsZbL-Akms - The whole mix of this song just stands out to me as everything being perfectly in its place and allowing the whole track to breathe and when the bass kicks in (without the whammy pedal on) it's like a kick in the chest on a good system.

I know this feeling. Back when I had a Corvette I hated the tone of it when I got it (it had relatively fresh D'addario nickels on it if I remember right) and felt it sounded a bit dull with a preamp that just sounded 'vague'. Soon as I put elixirs on it I fell in love with the tone from it. If the thing didn't weigh so much I would never have sold it.

Eude [/quote] Only used them very briefly when I specced the bass in May but was blown away by them (even with my extremely limited ability to use the DFM preamp!). I'm not clued up on the interface boards (I know there are 2 types) but I'm sure Alan will be able to keep me right.

Very slight change in spec for the Recurve. It's now going to be installed with the multi-coil pickups.

Mainly pedals. TC Nova delay has peaked my interest!
