1. flat board and asymstrical necks are a joy to play. I imagine that combined with fan frets would be perfection but that's another variable. The first time I played an ACG with the Flat board/asymmetric neck I felt it was quite chunky but after 5 minutes it all made sense. worth trying if you can give it a go!
2.
It also helps if you've got a neck and arms & legs that are longer than R2D2s...
Sometimes. I think one of my issues are that I have an incredibly long neck and it's somewhat freakish depending on what angle you look at me. Also the fact that I simultaneously manage to be skinny and have a beer belly may have something to do with it.
3.
It's all in the posture, darlings. Stomachs in, shoulders back and down, luvs. :-)
Still working on mastering that fine art it seems
4.
What to your other band members wear?
Drummer generally wears a vest/shorts (cause he's a sweaty little percussionist), other two generally t-shirt (or shirt) and jeans.
5. Reading through the stage outfits thread and my recent secret santa gift (Great idea to whoever it was by the way) has got me thinking about how I dress more on stage. I'm lucky in the sense that it isn't a covers band and don't have to attend smart functions etc but I would like to dress nice every so often. Basically I have this horrible ability/curse to wear any sort of smart clothing and look like I'm going to court. I can just about manage to wear a shirt and look semi-comfortable but anything more than that and I just look/feel a bit ridiculous. I can't be the only one...can I?
6.
Looks great. I loved the feel of the Dingwall I tried at the bass show a couple of years ago (and had a good old chat with the affable Mr D himself) but the basic tone of the bass did nothing for me sadly.
This what what I found with the Dingwall I owned. The bass was incredible to play but the tone had no character for me. Saying that. the Fan frets to me made sense when the B scale was 37" but I'm not so sure there would be much of a difference with it only being 35". I could be proven wrong though!
7. Oo. now that is pretty. what preamp did you go for?
8. I imagine The Gallery would be able to do that?
9.
Personally I have absolutely no problem with this. Why would you want to pay a person to do this work when an NC can rip one out more accurately, and in a fraction of the time?
I agree with this to a certain extent but I would say there is something special about having a fully handmade bass. Saying that. I'm in love with how the Ibanez looks (and the thin necks are as good as you get IMO)
10. The thing I prefer about having tone control on my bass than on the amp is consistency. I use a lot of "in house" amplification when gigging and find if I get the source tone as good as possible it's better than editing a bad tone on many different branded amps boosting/cutting slightly different frequencies.
11. I think it looks gorgeous and if the SR prestige basses are anything to go by I imagine it will play and sound fantastic. Saying that (when taking exchange rate into account) these are roughly the same price as as ACG custom (starting price of one at least).
12. Fantastically comfortable bass to play, weighs almost nothing! Good luck with the sale Kev
13. In : Warwick Corvette 2004 STD 5 (Bubinga) - I learned heavy basses sound amazing but 6kilos was far too much for my puny shoulders to handle. Warwick Streamer Jazzman 5 - I learned nothing from this really. ACG Salace - I learned that I really love asymmetrical necks and ACG bass + John East preamp sounds incredible. Also learned not to trust a certain prominent member on here (I shall not go into further details). This did however prompt me to place a custom order with Alan which is now well under way! Dingwall Afterburner 1 - I learned that I love everything about Dingwall basses except the lack of growl in the tone. Fan frets are the way forward. Warwick Thumb NT 5 - I learned growly dark tone suits my band perfectly. Out - Warwick Thumb 2006 Dirty Blonde and all of the above excluding the Thumb NT 5
14. Could you add mine to that list please? Post 28 on here I believe Will get round to listening to each band once this new year malarkey is over and done with!
15. I'd rather go for 10+ uber spec ACG basses if I'm honest. I second Robs comment too.
16.
I like reading these threads to see 1) how long it takes someone to be against a nice, simple idea, 2) who it is 3) how long and if the reaction to, takes over the thread 4) i like trying to guess who it will be
there is always going to be someone, it's the law of the internet really. I think this is a brilliant idea, share music for free on a large platform of (usually) likeminded people. If people don't like the music don't follow the band etc etc
17. Bit late to the party but here's my new band. Working on recordings just now (although seemingly at a snails pace!) - https://www.facebook.com/goon.and.the.kings In the meantime, a basic all DI'd recording! - https://soundcloud.com/goon-and-the-kings/dark-side
18.
Boxing day bump with reduction to 450GBP
bargain!

20.
I think the B7K is bassically a B3K with EQ (and DI), so wouldn't your chance of "getting on" be better with the B7K?
That's what I initially thought when I read that although it could be a case of "too many options". A lot of people seem to like the simplicity of having 3 knobs instead [s]seven[/s] [s]eight?[/s] however many knobs the B7K has?
21. I've always struggled getting anything string-related in shops. I find that Guitarguitar tends to only stock the odd set of EB or D'addario (no Prosteels) in 5 string sets. I tend to use Elixirs which finding these for a 5 string is near impossible in shops near me. I would prefer to buy in shops but just find the lack of gear that I actually want to own/try is generally a little flat.
22. I am loving that t-shirt but alas having about 40 black t-shirts and a ginger long-haired cat means I'm cutting down on my [s]black[/s] Ginger t-shirts If it was white however...
23. I can only [s]second[/s] mirror the above 3 comments and add that I can't wait to hear/save up for the on board pre-amp once it's released! Still loving my B3K
24. I struggle listening to Lars. Quite a few metal bands use jazz basses. I know the guy from Syslosis uses one (or did when I saw them).
25. I know so many people seem to hate the fancy woods thing but I think that's absolutely gorgeous even with the Rosewood fretboard.
