1. Didn't Jaco used to strum an open chord, lay the bass on the stage, then climb onto a stack and somersault, landing with his foot muting the chord - or have I dreamt that? Not sure I'd be happy seeing my bass up there :-D
2.
Surely the strap button could be located anywhere on that top tentacle thing, meaning zero neck five? NECK DIVE !!!
3. The HD350 is a really good amp, and £300 is a bargain. Good luck with the sale!
4. From Saturday nights' gig - they gave us a saucepan full of beer!? (Guitarist pictured) We usually get beers provided, and I'm usually driving. Grrrrrr
5. Great, thanks folks. The good news is that I probably have everything I need already. Will have a play with the suggestions above
6. I love their stuff, but hadn't listened to them for ages. News of Mark's sad passing prompted me to dig out some of their stuff tonight.
7. Probably a bad description - I'm on about the bass sound on the below track. I know it's a synth, but I'm thinking it should be possible on bass guitar with the right effects. What do you reckon? Octave combined with muting technique maybe? http://youtu.be/RpZVPSCv79U
8. If you paint that white, I'm going to sh*t in an envelope and post it to you.
9. Great stuff - a really enjoyable mix of styles and great buildups. That's a gig I'd love to be at :-)
10. Ii reckon that the one you bought is the one which will keep it's value the best, so in the long run, it's the cheapest ;-)
11.
More eyecandy is better no?
That scratchplate totally transforms the look of the Warwick - love it
12. Well, I gigged the Neotech mega last night. It's really comfy. I can't tell whether my shoulder is healing well, or if the strap is great, or both, but no pain at all today after soundcheck and 2 x 45 min sets. I'll definitely keep hold of this, especially for the P, which will feel like an anchor when I play it again, in comparison to the chambered Ergon.
13.
I do wonder how it's possible to make a guitar like that and sell it for £120 without some exploitation happening somewhere.
This was my first thought too, although that's not to say that that more expensive items don't benefit from the same exploitation, but with increased profits.
14.
Just a quick bump and a reminder that as well as Dick Venom there's well over 100 different musical acts performing this afternoon and evening. Is there no-one else here on bass chat performing at this event?
NecroQuote!! You playing this year?
15. Next up - Hockley Hustle! 400+ ACTS / 40+ VENUES / 1 WRISTBAND / ALL FOR CHARITY http://www.hockleyhustle.co.uk/venues/cape/#lineup http://www.hockleyhustle.co.uk/venues/bambuu-downstairs/#lineup This is a big charity event where the whole of the Hockley/central area of Nottingham is taken over for a Sunday for charity. Most shops, bars and clubs have acts on all day, and there are over 400 acts playing throughout the day! Just buy a wristband and wander around till you hear something you like! UJahm play twice - first at 9pm at Cape Bar (Put on by Cultural Vibrations) [s]then at 11:20 at Bambuu (Put on by Brouhaha)[/s] Update - Bambuu have just had a restriction on live music after 10, and we couldn't slot on at another time, so just the Cape Bar gig now
16.
Glad it went well Chris, I did call in at the venue around 11:40pm but couldn't see you, there were one or two guys packing up gear but I didn't hang around.
Ah yes, Chris' Taxi Service was doing his first run taking Mrs RR and friends home, before returning to perform band van duties. Sorry I missed you - nice of you to drop in :-) See you @ H20 on the 1st
17. A good gig at really nice venue The Nottingham Contemporary. The lovely soundguy had done some prior research and listened to a few of our tracks to get a feel for our vibe, and did a great job both FOH and in the stage mix. The rider was a huge saucepan full of beer! As an originals band, it's not that often that we have an entire night to ourselves. Thankfully a really decent crowd turned up - maybe around 150 people and they were dancing from the second song. We tried two new songs which went down really well. Great night
18.
There is a "Bad Jokes" thread you know.
Haha, yeah, but this one is worse than bad - a ham-fisted attempt at humour
19. German luthier Jens sent me a Cora 5 string today, which I didn't ask for and don't need.... It's a Spam Ritter
20. What scale is this pls?
21. We play a pub in Bromsgrove where a bucket is always passed around. It's only another twenty or thirty pounds on top of the fee, but it's nice that that comes straight from an appreciative audience.
22.
... angle on the handles?
It's the angle that's the problem! The elevated cab angle is too acute and a menace to shins.
23. I'm pretty sure it's 30Hz, same as the Thumpinator
24.
I've tried bass > Behringer BDI > passive mixer desk > active PA speakers. Didn't work. Thinking it through, where is the signal amplification in that chain?
Do you mean it didn't work at all or you didn't like the sound? It should work, as the BDI acts as a preamp and the PA speakers have the power amp stage.
