1. Hi This thread might help, unless there is some difference between the basses I'm not aware of: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/182538-ft-warwick-streamer/ Alas, it seems that Warwick suffer from dreadful depreciation, so you could be looking around 50% of the new price.
2. Nice to see Alice Russell love, what a lovely voice. Can we keep Dirty Loops out of the thread too please? :-) I love a good Beatles cover. Two of my favourites are Stevie Wonder's 'We can work it out' and Earth Wind and Fire's 'Got to get you into my life' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zB24z00ajU4 Another rockier favourite is Monster Magnet's version of Howlin Wolf's 'Evil' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN4llU46Xok
3. Great stuff, good luck with the gig
4. A lovely intimate gig, and great to see her on top form
5. A reminder about our gig next Thursday. The Golden Fleece, Nottingham
6. It needs to be pretty thin to really get into the grain, and ime you'll even need to thin down a grain filler a bit. Water-based wood fillers tend to shrink back when they dry out, so you'll need to overdo it to allow for this, then sand back the excess. In short, you could use certain types of wood filler, but a grain filler is easier as it's purpose made.
7. It took me four relationships to realise that Nick Lowe was talking bollocks when he said you need to be Cruel to be Kind. Air is not solid. Try breathing wood. War is definitely not Civil
8.
The Aguilar SL cabs look the part. Other silver cloth fronted cabs include barefaced ( as mentioned ) and EBS. The Purple Chilli are pretty retro looking too, but not sure about their hifi qualities
10. Great video Clarky. The song has a lovely dreamlike quality and lovely dynamics going into the chorus. Nice western shirt, too Edit - what's the plural of chorus? Chori?
11. Lovely bass. It's nice to see one that doesn't have gold hardware. Good luck with the sale.
12.
Cheeky bastard
I'd be more concerned that he thinks you sell penis enlarger plans on Ebay
13. It's a really tricky design to get right. - ACG (especially the Finn SC) and Ritter (R8) have a great eye for design, and do the SC well. - Fodera's Anthony Jackson and Warwick's Thumb SC are some of the ugliest basses out there IMO
14.
temptation to treat oneself can be overwhelming, but it doesn't last, and nor does the pleasure of acquisition.
Very true, and very well put
15. The Yoda weighs next to nothing.
16. Rosanna, by Toto Bossa Nova (the entire genre, not the Pixies album)
17. Danelectro DE Dano Pro bass in Aqua, now where's my strap?
18. I believe that the Jazz bridge pickup has some variation, Google "70s pickup spacing" or something for details. I'd imagine that the one closer to the bridge is better suited to having a cover. I love the look, and gig my chromed-up P with no issues at all
19. The OP did ask for opinions, but I feel that the negative reply, no matter how valid, was poor etiquette. If a friend had rocked up in a new car that they were obviously chuffed with and said "what do you think?", it would be poor form to say "the welding on these is sub par and the brake pipes are prone to corrosion". They have already bought it and love it, so all that does is piss on their bonfire. It would be a different story of someone was considering buying one and inviting opinions, then constructive criticism is welcome and truly helpful. All IMO of course.
20. As far as covers are concerned, I Loved playing 'Boys keep Swinging' with my old Bowie band - driving root notes in the verses, nice bit of BVs in the chorus and an outro with total freedom to improvise and make it sound as crazy as possible.
21.
Yeah thanks Looked at barefaced.. they might sound great.. But there ugly as hell! xD
Coming from the person who has just bought a Markbass:-) IMO they look much better with the silver cloth front option
22. I just bought a Mark Bass Superbooster pedal from Derrick. Within 24hrs of agreeing a price, it was at my house! Great communication, item as described, highly recommended.
23. Where's BRX? The Terrortones' 'Stickypants Trance' vid was cheap and superb.
24. +1 for the DHA VT1. It'ss what you need.
You think Dave will paint it black on request? (hate those finishes)
I originally wanted black, but this was Dave's response: "I would not recommend black as the base colour, just looks poor and tacky." The one on this thread actually looks great IMO
DHA VT1 EQ Bass Drive. http://www.davehalla....uk/page29.html End of thread
Glad you're enjoying it BA!
I think Dave, whilst being a lovely bloke and awesome maker of pedals, paints them with a dog or something...
Truly sloppy
