Oh what glorious guitarist delusion of adequacy & you managed not to punch him? You got more tolerance than me! Cheers, Norm

Yep, there is loads of tasty goods, a lot of bargains too. But it is at a time when I've got zero funds myself. It is agony! Trying to sell some of my surplus gear just to be able to grab one of these bargains, madness! -
Only ever did it once. Here's the story: http://bigplansforeverybody.blogspot.co.uk/p/part-six-worst-gig-ever-1-bolton.html
Priceless Rushbo! very funny, I've shared that, ta. My tuppence, not me playing drunk but when I was doing the pa for a mates blues band, in a pub function room with a late bar, the guitarist was absolutely hammered. They played little red rooster & an almighty brawl started up between locals & some pikey types, stools being thrown, glasses smashed! Drummer, bassman & singer stop playing, & with myself try & defend pa from being weaponised whilst pissed guitard solos on mercilessly, oblivious to the carnage in front of him! Well scary at the time but funny now.

You don't realise how loud you are until..............

Recent sound check, I was going through the pedal board one by one & then in the combinations for particular songs when the barmaid asked me to turn down as they were doing a comedy juggling routine behind the bar trying to keep glasses on the shelves! Was the octaver, q-tron, overdrive combo I suspect, mmmmmm chunky! I took it as a compliment but I did turn down. A tiny bit. Then turned back up when we went on, ha HA! -

Work til 2:30, then pick up youngest from school, quick cup o'tea, nip up guitar shop for some new strings, re strung stingray ready for next saturdays gig (supporting Wishbone Ash, our biggest gig this year so far, looking forward to it!), 30 min practice, speedy veg curry for tea, then on computer printing out cds & sleeves ready to try & punt a few out at the gig (any profit going towards our next recording), whilst Basschatting. Not a bad bass day, all told?

Interesting stuff, I have never listened to any WA before, not sure why, bit before my time maybe? We are supporting the Andy Powell WA in Oct @ the cheese & grain in Frome, Somerset. Was looking forward to it (our biggest gig of year) but now Really looking forward to it! Ace!
My band forced me into doing backing vocals a whiles back. Singing was bad and basslines suffered. But they kept on at me, in a positive way, and the basslines are as they should be and the vocals have improved a hell of a lot. I simplified the bass for when I was [s]singing [/s]shouting so I could concentrate in the vocals. Then when the vocals improved I worked on the basslines. Stick with it.
+ the 1. Practice, practice then some more practice. Good or even fairly ordinary bvox can lift a tune & a band. Keep at it, its not easy thats why not many do it!

Plenty of 4 originals bands on the bill, half hour slot, £1 a head for over 10 punters you can pull in type gigs ie pay to play. But paying gigs few & far. One of our previously reliable pubs that would put on us as an originals band in amongst their normal covers bands has gone down to just saturday gigs & exclusively covers. Told us to learn some Foo fighters songs or similar. So we said Foo Fook off! (We didn't really, we just said nah mate not for us ta, speak to you again when the recession is over) : 0 )
IMO "never gigged" = not as good as the bass(es) I am gigging.
Deffo this. I played my little used spare for the first time in ages t'other night, there nothing wrong with it but couldn't wait to pick up my Stingray afters. Its just so much nicer to play!

Lozz, l'll try & make the next one a bit harder! ;-)

A kiddie from a band who were supporting us t'other day said to our guitarist, as he set up his shiny Blackstar half stack & dean guitar infront of our blokes battered old Laney combo & tatty squier strat (albeit an early American built one) "you make do with that old amp & copy, do you?" I'll let you guess who had the better sound & didn't spend the entire set fiddlin, a twiddling, squatting down listening & grimacing?!?!? ;-)
Turns out you can't polish a turd.
But you can roll it in glitter! To the OP , my thoughts are with ya, knock'em bandy! I'd never have the nutz or skillz to pull it off though.
