Walked out to "something for the weekend" by The Divine Comedy. Last couple of lines are "gagged & bound & left for dead, when he woke, she was gone with his car & all of his money!" Made us laugh at the time & yes, we are still happily married 15 years later. Although if we were to do it now it would probably be to something by The Fall. ;-)

Pro's: The little isolated burbling bass break on Nick Lowe's "I love the sound of breaking glass" ? Sounds ace to me! Mine: Sticking the drummer to the back wall at rehearsal last night with the thunderous noise coming from my trace v4 through my very recently acquired barefaced vintage, awesome!

Nick Oliveri only copied that encore antic from Capt Sensible IIRC. Some guitars & some basses are "sexy", IMHO ones that look like bits of furniture aren't.

As others have already said, practice! Keep yer basslines simple whilst singing & practice. Anybody see that Wings over America documentary t'other week? Not a macca fan but it was interesting to see how much the thumbs aloft tosser simplified the bassline to allow the vocals to shine. Also helps notice the bassline when not singing as he then busied it up a bit, throwing more melodic stuff in.
