1. Only heard rumours myself too, although I've never spoken to anybody who's actually had any Ashdown gear die on them. They get used by rehearsal studios a lot round these parts because they're quality cheap gear, and because the UK distributor isn't far away... Maybe its only the studio ones that get abused that are the ones that end up failing?
2. I tried an older MAG 4x10 with the blue speakers and the front porting and I thought it sounded ace. The newer ones were so cold and lifeless (and thats coming from a markbass user!) Definitely worth trying one out if you can though man, Ashdown stuff is very popular for more reasons than just the price
3. A couple of those distortion effects sounded usable. Not a patch on my Marshall pedal but the Bass Muff sounded pretty much identical. I can live without those being great though as I'd mostly be using the B3 for everything but dirt and compression
4. This has been for sale for way too long man... Markbass amps are arguably the best in the business and bloody cheap considering the quality and convenience of the things! Don't let this poor thing sit around not making noise
5. People who don't post often are already at a disadvantage as its less likely that someone will feel comfortable trading with them. Also, I personally decide to send Paypal payments as a gift (without being asked to, i mean) for members who either have a lot of good feedback, or post regularly.
6. There is quite a large number of members who rarely post, even long standing ones. So whereas I totally see the reasons behind it, I don't think it's a great idea either.
7. Tolex looks better and is easier to clean/doesn't get hair stuck to it.. But its so much easier to tear in my experience! My markbass cab has good quality carpeting so it doesn't fluff up, never really bothered me
8. Judging by the reviews and clips I've checked out so far the B3 looks great! I can't afford one at the moment so I guess im gonna wait and see if a second hand one comes up for sale in the next couple of months... But it's definitely worth checking out for the price it is!
9. For sale is this very easy to use 4 track digital recorder. It's described as having CD-like sound quality, and from playing around with it I wouldn't argue with that. I bought it a couple of years ago so I could record bass tracks for a project I was involved in that never really went ahead. So apart from being stuck on my pedalboard and used as a headphone amp every now and again, it's barely been used. It looks like new, apart from a few shiny bits on the bottom where it had velcro stuck to it. Comes with the 1Gb SD memory card and USB lead that were in the box when I bought it. Also included is a power supply that I bought seperately to prevent myself having to mess around with AA batteries. Thanks for looking!
10.
How many do you need!! haha!!
This many
11. I don't use a ramp for two reasons. One: i dig in a lot. Two: as inconsistent as my attack might be because of this, I just enjoy it and it feels right to me. Inconsistencies are smoothed out with my compressor (I know, it's kind of cheating!)
12. Sounds and looks awesome, but surely the pickup alignment is a QC issue?
13. Bought a Peavey 5 stringer off Alex last month. Smooth transaction and the bass was in great condition. He even pointed out a couple of minor marks he noticed on it after I'd sent the payment and asked if I was still ok with the deal, so a very trustworthy guy to do business with
14. Yeah dude, effectpowersupplies.com sell them and I think they're still offering free delivery too
15.
Always have the tuners separate on the heads....
Ahh good thinking Batman! Mine's got a mute function so I have it on my board, very useful!
16.
Latest incarnation......
This must be the first pedalboard EVER without a tuner on it! Awesome selection by the way
17.
What is nice about having 24 frets is that you're left with a sensible space to play in without having to struggle.
Actually I never thought about that!
18. It's worth it for just the Sansamp model judging from the clips i've heard... And its cheaper and a lot more versatile than one! I really can't wait to get the money behind me to try one myself
19. Oh wow it's Marseille? They play round here all the time! Will probably catch you one day! Congrats on getting the job mate. So why the thunderbird? Is it an endorsement thing or just the band image?
20. I very very rarely go all the way up past the 21st fret so i COULD do without a 24... But seeing as every bass I've ever owned has had 24 frets, anything else seems weird. I guess I kind of use the 24th fret as a reference point or something?
21.
Interestingly I just read that myung has an MXR Doubleshot on his board... If this is correct and I'm not being dumb isn't this a GUITAR distortion?!
Where did you read this? I'm always gear stalking my idols Also, I'll agree with other who have said guitar distortions sound great on bass! Try to find a Marshall Jackhammer somewhere if you can, I got mine given to me by a mate as it's not so good on guitar... but it's the best dirt pedal i own! I didn't notice any low end loss, and there's even an EQ/contour section on the pedal for unlimited options
22. That 2x10 looks cool
23. I can't say much for the way ESPs feel to play, but they do sound great for metal. Personally I prefer Seymour Duncan bass pickups to EMG too (partly because of my preference for passive basses!) so i'd be more inclined to get this than a 'normal' one
24. I've been seriously using effects for less than a year, so I haven't had time for that yet! But it seems that after owning/selling a horrible Digitegh BP80 thing, and subsequently avoiding multi-effect systems for most of my bass-playing life, I'm actually gassing pretty hard for Zoom's latest offering!
