1. Buy a Fender Kingman. That's a jazz neck on an acoustic.
2. I might have to get one of these
3. I might have to get one of these
4. I use a pair of Berg CN112 for bigger things, so that sounds great. Has it got a fan?
5. Aside from being £75 cheaper, is there any going for the Puma 300 rather than 500? Does the fan turn on less for example?
6. The Puma 300 is 2.2lb as well. Far more options than I thought!
7. Don't laugh, but I'm trying to get the whole thing under 20lb. My back is properly f***ed and with the music trust group I'm with, there are a lot of room changes where I have to pack and move every 40 mins.
8. Ooo! A Barefaced 1x10 with the new Phil Jones head might be a cracking combination to try.
9. I'm in Northants. No dealers round here alas. The Cub might be a better bet.
10. I have a passive Sandberg that is perfect for the job.
11. Trying to get as little to carry as possible... Any thoughts on a PJB Cub or Double Four combo for playing with a half-dozen other instruments, mainly woodwind? I see the Double Four is an astonishingly light 8.8lb but can it really do the job? Or is the Cub a better bet, even if it's a whopping(!!!) 13.2lb?
12. Mmmm Would this do a nice plummy old school sound that would sit nicely with woodwind instruments?
13.
It wood though, wooden it? Har, har.
Wooden tit?
14. Why did they discontinue them? I had noticed less people buying them.
15. I'm a bit of a compression junkie so that appealed to me before I owned one. I'd be interested to try one with my Bergs. I play a lot with a local educational music trust band / orchestra and there just isn't room for pedal boards. I like clip on tuners but when 20 odd instruments are tuning up the vibrations in the room ruin the efficiency. I love the idea of having a tuner, compression and a bit of warm drive in the head. I'll have to borrow one to give it a try.
16. I must try the RH750 again. I had one and didn't get on with it, but I've liked every demo I've heard. So I'm guessing it didn't get on well with the cabs I had at the time - I had a pair of Mark Bass Club 121 cabs.
17. NEw facebook pic today With some sales patter: "PJB D400 - Digital Bass Amplifier Weight: 2.9 pounds Power: more than 400 watts RMS into 4 ohms. This amp has more tone and better built (with the best quality components available) than any other bass amp in its class. 18. http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=250 Interesting for the "class D has no welly" gang - claims to not use the car stereo power amp unit but have developed their own. Yet more toys to try!
19.
Thanks for taking the time to reply gents. All food for thought! Also gotta find an RH750 to try out too. There is a s/h one in Bass direct, but it looks like their only selling the complete rig of amp+2 cabs at the moment, maybe i'll drop 'em a line and see if they'll consider splitting the rig.. Bassman7755 is correct I'd be looking to drop at least the Sansamp, Tu-3, and MXR comp. I'd still need some kind of board though, coz I have the billy sheehan EBS pedal which I do really like..hmmmm
There was one on the Facebook Bass Players market yesterday.
20. These http://www.amazon.co.uk/Superlux-HD668B-Headphones/dp/B003JOETX8 As good as my silly money Grado cans. Annoyingly!

Phaser

I'm about to join the phaser party - I'm going for a Mr Black Gilamondo. Demo on YouTube is awesome.
22.
The mid control on the Demeter is passive, i.e. cut only. I generally run it at 3 o'clock, which should equate to a slight cut but sounds right to me. I expect it has a lot to do with what the treble and bass controls are getting up to at the same time.
On My Demeter I tend to have the mids at about 10 o clock and the treble at 9. And in 'dark' mode. But then again my basses are quite bright and have steel rounds on most of them.
Pretty pathetic move isn't it? Thread started off ok with some decent input from everyone then slow obtuse trolling creeped in, then after getting called on it deletes all the context of the discussion! Never mind - I guess we'll never know what constitutes a mainstream vs boutique manufacturer now!
In my experience the difference between mainstream v boutique is usually very simple: There are those that think boutique means being made by crooked back deformed mad scientists in damp sheds, and then there are those who claim anything is boutique if they can't afford it and don't want to admit it.

Why has the OP deleted all his posts in this thread?
25. Neotech Mega Bass Strap. More comfy than my Mono. More adjustment too.
