1. Absolutely no attachments whatsoever to anything or anyone. I like a simple life.
2. I've never managed to play any instrument using a pick, it's just something that doesn't feel right to me and my timing goes out of the window... usually followed by the aforementioned pick... I'm not keen on the 'accelerated attack' that a pick gives, but I certainly don't see myself as the ultimate arbiter of good taste. Live and let live I say.
3. A little bit obvious perhaps, but how about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOKWqtocXWs
4. I'd give them a call and let them know things have gone wrong. Their process has obviously gone a bit awry and if you start getting third parties like Visa involved then it's only going to complicate matters.
5.
Still on the list!
What? Not another one?

7. I think the 'one trick' reputation is generally fuelled by 'that' particular sound that many owners try to emulate rather than any major limitations inherent in the instrument itself.
8. Yes. The Little Mark 250 will give you 250W @ 4Ω or 150W @ 8Ω. The Hartke 410 TP Transporter is 8Ω.
9.
I was having a go at iCastle, who is a fan of The Wombles. At least, he says he is.
10.
Thhp! Don't give me that. Do you really need a 6-string to play 'The Wombling Song'? I don't think so.
I need the extra high frequency to compensate for the sound damping effects of the burrow.
11.
But what is a "regular type" of music? Jazz? Prog Rock? Electronica? Pop? A lot of styles can make good use of a 6 string bass when it's in the right hands (just as with a 4 string). I used to play in a folk band (use the term "folk" very loosely there) & there was a couple of songs that having a high C would have made the bassline that bit easier than having to reach for the 24th fret on the G.
Exactly. If your playing and musical styles dictate that a 5 or 6 string makes things easier, then so be it. If your playing and musical styles dictate that a 4 string is all you need, then so be it. I happily swap between 4/5/6 string instruments as and when I need to in order to add the appropriate degree of musical flexibility within the piece I'm playing.

14. I use an AB switch and set my amp EQ flat. I rely on the active electronics on my basses to give me the bass sound I want and the tone controls on my Fishman pre amp (on the EUB channel) to give me the EUB sound I want. Dead simple.
15. Nope. Whatever I do it must be deeply ingrained - sat here not playing I can't actually remember how I keep time but I certainly don't count. I suspect divine intervention.
16. I would expect basic things like switches and sockets to all come from the same manufacturer regardless of whether you have an MIA of MIM. They just 'are what they are'. It's the assembly where the differences creep in.
17.
Or you could just hit the 'Share' button and copy and paste that part
You still get the same problem with an SSL originated link.
18.
You can tell her a mate asked you to look after it for a while.
What a wasted opportunity. "I'm looking after it for a mate for a while because his wife isn't as loving and understanding as you are". Warning: I've been married twice so please take my relationship advice with a large container of salty stuff.
19. There seem to be quite a few people having trouble embedding YouTube videos into their posts, so I thought I'd post a definitive set of instructions. 1) Browse to the YouTube video you want to embed. 2) Copy the URL from the YouTube page you are on. 3) Paste that link straight into your Basschat post. Now comes the secret bit. 4) Take a look at what you've just pasted. 5) If the URL starts with 'https:// then you need to delete the 's' to leave 'http://' 6) Click the [POST] button and smile to yourself as you see your embedded video appear. HTH
20.
Eh? Who said that?
It was the big lads, they made me do it.
21. I'm not really much of a Fender player these days, but I've played and owned a number of MIA and MIM basses over the years. Some were good, others were horrid and a couple were superb. Interestingly, I've never found a horrid MIJ though. I think the Japanese have a far more robust and mature QC culture and the ability to mass produce things to a set standard. I think the USA have lost that ability and the Mexicans haven't got to grips with it yet. My advice would always have to be, if you're looking at MIA or MIM, try before you buy but if you're looking at an MIJ then you're unlikely to be upset with a blind purchase.
22. Well it should be 'Remember You're A Womble'. In fact it was this cheerful little ditty:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XynJtr2UpNo
23. I still own and use one. No problems with it at all.
24.
Sorry, I don't know how to embed the YouTube link. Any suggestions?
Fixed for you. All you need to do is remove the 's' from the https:// part of the URL you pasted.
