1. I've searched everywhere for months now and still can't find one, so does anyone know where I can download a template for the tuners on recent Fender American Standard basses. I'm fitting them to a new neck, and it's critical that I get the two peg holes correct, as they fit in the holes really tight. Any help would be much appreciated. I've tried putting this in Accessories and Misc, which is where it should go, but it's only had 20 views so far, and whenever I look, there's never been more than three people in there at a time, and that includes me, so I thought I would try here as I desperately need to get the template.

Any titchy pathetic niggle about Basschat pales exponentially next to the information, support and affection members give each other, not just with music, with their personal lives too. I know a good few people on here who have received real help with their suffering and troubles from other members - I am one of them. The way this place is run is a paragon of excellence, you have the mods' and owners' balanced and fair judgement to thank for that. It's a real, tangible, important community, not just a place to sell f***ing basses n sh*t.
Blimey! I only started this thread because I was curious about being contacted (which I am extremely grateful for) by BC'ers regarding my wanted ads, even though the stats were saying no one has viewed my ads, it was not a moan, just an observation. I have already stated that my gripe is with the members who are abusing the system, not the people who do a great job in running the forum, and I fully understand why they have put a restriction on the "items wanted" section now that the reason for it has been explained. I'm fully aware that it's "not just a place to sell f***ing basses n sh*t", and I personally have only sold a couple of items over many years. I have also stated that I was happy to pay the annual fee of £20 to sell just one item a few weeks ago, I have no intention of selling anything else at the moment, so I don't think I fall into the category of taking what I can from the forum, without being prepared to contribute a little back. I agree with your opinions about the forum being "a real, tangible, important community", but you shouldn't assume that no one else thinks that way too, because I think that most of us do. BTW, until it was pointed out to me, I didn't even realise that we cannot reply in the "items wanted" section, but now through discussion, myself, and probably a few others as well, now understand and appreciate why certain things are done.
 4.
This has been discussed and explained in several threads, but essentially we simply don't have a mechanism within the forum software to allow that degree of differentiation at present. Despite the claims by those who make out that they know what they are talking about, the lockdown of the Wanted section wasn't something that we wanted to do. Moving forward, we will find a way of managing the Wanted section with more flexibility. Until we can find and implement that solution, I'd urge forum members to lay the blame where it is actually deserved - firmly at the feet of those who decided that freeloading at the expense of the rest of you was acceptable.
I agree, and do lay the blame with the members who are abusing it.
 5. I think that most of us appreciate what a great job the people who run this site do. But I do think it's a pity that a few people who have abused the "items wanted" section, have spoilt it for the majority of us. As I said, I have paid the annual fee to sell items, even though I have only sold one so far, and may not put anything else up for some time, so I may end up paying far more for selling one item, than what most people would pay, but my point is, if someone has paid an annual fee, I just think it would be good to allow those people the chance give their "wanted" ads a little boost when needed.
 6.
Because due to the 'unique' way this site is now funded, you cannot reply to wanted ads on the board as that might be seen as [s]helpful[/s] breaching the rules of paying to advertise so you won't get any reply stats in that forum.
You're right, I've just read the restrictions. So that means you can't bump your ad every three days, which will encourage people to create new ads to get back on page one, which in turn will clog up the "items wanted" section. BTW, I pay the annual fee to sell on BC, so maybe people who do pay, should be able to bump on their "items wanted" ads. Just my opinion of course.
 7.
Because due to the 'unique' way this site is now funded, you cannot reply to wanted ads on the board as that might be seen as [s]helpful[/s] breaching the rules of paying to advertise so you won't get any reply stats in that forum.
But what about the view stats? they are saying no one has even viewed the ads.
 8. I'm curious to know how the stats alongside threads/topics work on here. For example, a couple of hours ago I put three "wanted" adverts in the "items wanted" section, and although the stats say that I have had no replies and no views, in actual fact, I have had personal replies to two of them already, so people are viewing them even though the stats say otherwise.

 12. Hi Do you still have the Hipshot BT8 for sale? Cheers Brian
 13.
This seems to have regressed into a 'covers vs originals' thing again. I like both - there are good bands and bad bands. I do find the attitude of some of the guys who play in originals bands a teensy bit smug and condescending, though. No need for it, really. If you find yourself in an originals band that flicks your switch then well done you. But 99.99% of originals bands I have seen or heard fall short of the mark as far as my tastes are concerned. I'd rather watch a good covers band like that in the OP than a second rate originals. No question.
Totally agree with all this.
 14.
It's on the iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk..._Train_A_Comin/
Yep, I will catch the second half later today.
 15. I set the recorder on Tuesday and went to bed. Watched it last night, and it finished half-way through the programme. I forgot to adjust the clock to winter time, and of course it started recording early!
 16. What will happen to the Genz Benz 3 year warrenties, and who do you contact?
 17.
School bass. Are you kidding? I wanted to do o level music but as only one other person wanted to we couldn't Music lessons were a balding middle aged bloke trying to engage teenagers in 1975 by playing Shadows albums on the education authority style record player which we could make jump by stamping on the floor when he turned his back to draw a crotchet on the blackboard.
The Shadows? I would have loved to have been able to listen to artists as modern as them in our music lessons! We were made to listen to composers such as Bach, Mozart, Brahms, etc.. Yes, I know they were great composers, but being a teenager at school when The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, etc, were just starting to hit the music scene, classical music was the last thing us 60's kids wanted to listen to. As for the school band? no chance for kids like me, only the posh kids who had their own cello's, wind instruments, or were lucky enough to have had piano lessons got anywhere near it, and of course, it was all classical stuff anyway, so of no interest to most of us. To be quite honest, I think that our music teacher just wanted to have an easy time, he would put on a classical record, sit at his desk with his eyes closed obviously chilling to the music for the full 30 minutes, he never taught us anything about reading or understanding music in any way.
 18. I was YouTubing Wudtone guitar finishes, and in the column next to it, I noticed this video. I know it's not bass related, but like most of the comments on YouTube, I think it's really creepy that kids so young, can play so well! Please forgive me if this video has been shown before. 20.
The Yamaha DTX kit was @ £3-400 2nd hand. Through a decent PA, this sounded pretty good. But then he's a really good drummer & can even make the kitchen pans sound awesome.
It would seem that my mate has got himself a pretty decent kit then? I'm looking forward to hearing it.
 21.
I play with a drummer that uses a Jo Becky kit which looks like a normal kit but you can control the volume for smaller venues, once you factor in the cost of the kit plus the top end processor and a good pa I'm not so keen, as a bass player I don't really enjoy trying to lock in to the sound coming from the foh either.
This is all new to me, but wouldn't the drummer have a monitor next to the kit, so that the band can hear the drums from behind them? Please excuse me if that's a daft question!
 22. How much do you have to pay for a half decent kit, as my drummer mate has just bought a Yamaha electric kit for just under £2,000, would that do a good job?
 23.
At this stage, I'm unclear about whether band leader meant 200 songs before we start gigging (ha! - fat chance) or 200 songs somewhere/sometime down the line (and even that would take virtually constant rehearsing), or whether he was trying to make some sort of statement and/or gauge reaction. As I said, it's a brand new band and I'm trying hard to keep my opinions to myself, turn up on time, play the bass and go home. Personally, I don't need or want a full-time pro wedding band and I can afford to tag along for the ride for the time being. At the vey least it gets me out and playing with people rather than YouTube. We'll see how it pans out over the next couple of months but I will keep on checking the usual "Bassist needed" websites.
How come you don't know whether he wants you to learn 200 songs before you start gigging, why did you not ask him? Just because it's a brand new band, doesn't mean you shouldn't have an opinion, or ask questions, quite the oposite really, if you don't really think that his request to learn 200 songs is reasonable, then you should say so, and if he still says that's what he wants, then is this really the right band for you? if the answer is no, then be fair to him and tell him straight, so he can find another bass player who is happy with the situation. I have to admit that I wouldn't want to learn 200 songs either, but he has been upfront with you, and if you don't like it you should move on, not hang around until you find another band, which by what you are saying, is what you are doing. This might sound harsh, but it's obvious that he wants to earn a living from the band, whether he will or not is questionable, but he would have a better chance of doing so, if all the band members were committed.
 24. Met Geoff this morning to hand over my Barefaced S12, and although I was sad to see it go, I know it will be well looked after and much appreciated! Buy or sell with confidence, Geoff is a top guy! All the best mate.
 25.
Brian How about I bring my Compact up with me tomorrow, just so you can get an idea/feel for the size and weight? Just a thought. Cheers Geoff
If you don't mind Geoff, although I really don't know whether I will continue playing after the move, but it would give me chance to see one in the flesh, all the other brands I can get to see in the shops. See you in the morning. Cheers Brian
