I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 head, and would like suggestions for attaching it to my cab securely. Apart from the fact that it could get pulled off quite easily, it also moves due to the vibrations of the lower notes. I have raised the legs on the head so it clears the handle on the cab, but I need to secure it and have thought about velcro, but it would need to go from side to side, because if I go front to back, it will get in the way of the knobs on the front, and the inputs/outputs on the back. I guess this problem applies to most small heads, so your suggestions would be much appreciated.

When is this obsession with trying to make new things look old going to end?

Having spent many years coaching kids and struggling to find sponsors, and also being a big fan of the Blockheads and NWR in particular, I am pleased for you and at the same time extremely envious, but well done Chaypup!

I though I might post a few more pics just to show how nice it was, it had a lovely ebony fingerboard too. I'm feeling quite sad now.

[/quote]To be fair to him, my last communication with him was just over a hour ago, and he was trying to get as much info about the bass as he can, I have sent him the posts from this thread, and he has taken them on board, so I think we should give the guy a chance, there are still two days to run on the auction, so no money will exchange hands before then anyway. Maybe I'm just too naive and trusting, but I really do like to think that not all people who sells things on eBay are out to con people.

Ok, bit of an update. I have been in contact with the seller a number of times now, and I can assure you, he genuinely did not realise that it's not a genuine Fender. He thanked me for pointing this out to him, and says he is going to contact eBay for advice as to what to do. I did point out to him that although it's not a genuine Fender Precision, that's not to say it is not worth much, the fact that it almost falls into the vintage category, would mean that it might fetch a decent price, maybe not as much as what people have bid so far, but maybe £100 - £200 to a collector of old guitars. I said that the important thing is not to call it a [b]Fender[/b], because that would be misleading and against eBay rules, but if he advertised it along the lines of: "[b]70's or very early 80's Precision bass for sale[/b]" as the heading, he should be ok. In the ad itself, he can go on to explain that it was purchased in the early 80's for him by his late father, and has been in the loft for many years, and although it has a [b]Fender[/b] logo on the bass, he doesn't believe it to be a genuine[b] Fender Precision[/b], that way he is not being dishonest about the bass, and it then puts the onus on the buyer to make a decision whether to bid for it or not. I also pointed out that he said it was purchased in the early 80's, which would indicate that it couldn't have been manufactured in 1985/86 which the serial number indicates, and it also looks a bit older than it should do for a bass that has hardly been used, so maybe it could be a lot older than he thinks, maybe even early 70's? and I wondered if it was new or second hand when it was purchased for him? Hope I have done the right thing and given him some decent advice, but if I have got anything wrong, or left anything out, then please let me know, because although he is not BC'er, and there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there, I don't believe he is one of them.

As I said earlier, I do actually believe he just didn't realise it is not the real deal.

I actually contacted the seller, because I tend to give some sellers the benefit of the doubt. I pointed out to him that in my opinion, the bass is not a genuine Fender Precision. If people are reporting it, why is it still on there? It's so obviously a fake that is being described as a Fender!

You wouldn't need to worry about palm muting.

Keep plugging away Juliet, you will get there sooner than you think, whatever the reasons/motives for the song suggestions, you will become a better bass player by being pushed a little, that's for sure.

There seems to be quite a few cropping up on eBay for reasonable prices, I've seen many German made Corvettes go for less than £500, in fact I saw one go for £395 a couple of weeks ago, and I have sold two German made Corvettes recently for less than £500 in the past couple of years. I think that any Warwick that is pre-2010 will be German made providing it's not a Rockbass.

[/quote]Totally agree with this. unless you are all top notch muso's. we all have certain songs that we can't seem to nail, whether we are bassists, guitarists, drummers, keys, or whatever, most wont own up to the fact they are struggling with it, and will just say they don't like the song. When I look back to when I first started playing which was about seven years ago, I was exactly the same as the OP and thought the band was suggesting songs with difficult bass lines on purpose, but a lot of the songs I struggled on then, I can now play note for note as per the original, and I now tend to play what I think works best with the way the other band members play the song. Remember, there are millions of songs out there to be played, why beat yourself up trying to play something you just can't do at this moment in time, move on to another song, and continue practicing the one you can't play until you nail it, and then go back to them and suggest it at a later date.
