  1. I have played Precisions pretty much constantly since 1984. I read somewhere that budding bassists would play what their idols played. Thats pretty much true for me. Bruce Foxton, JJ Burnel , Phil Lynott ,Horace Panter , Mark Bedford, Sid Vicious...(Only kidding) 😂 I love the simple plug and play of a P Bass. No mucking about, plug in and it sounds gr8 from the off. The Transit Van of bass guitars.
  2. I,m lucky in the fact that I have excellent timekeeping abilities. I dont just mean getting to gigs early, but have a good "Internal Clock" if that makes sense. Give me a good drummer with the same and we are a rock solid rhythm section. My weakness is that as a musician I am lazy. A couple of run throughs and its "Yea, that'll do" 🙄
  3. Kenny bought my Xvive compressor. Quick payment and good coms. Highly recommended! 👍
  4. My mum used to play acoustic guitar along to her Country And Western records back in the early 70,s while knocking back bottles of Emva Cream. My old nan used to play the piano in pubs back in the war. I,m the only one in the present who plays a musical instrument.
  5. Learn some scales!
  6. Came across this old chestnut on the tube. Simple but effective bass playing from young Tom.
  7. "Oh No! - I cant remember what comes after the solo!!' 😮
  8. PM incoming
  9. Is that £249 posted?
  10. Is this still for sale??
  11. I guess I should have bailed earlier. But we had lots of work and a big following. He usually tuned The guitars before I got there.
  12. I quit my band of 10 years shortly after the lead guitarist and singer had a massive row n the car park before a gig and Mr Lead quit and went home. The singer had no idea how to operate the PA as the lead guitarist always looked after it. The gig was a total disaster as expected. The singer/rhythm guitarist couldnt even tune his guitar, Mr Lead always did it for him. The drummer was useless and often had no clue that the song had even ended! Made my mind up when I got home that night.
  13. Careful what you say chaps. He is a member on here. 😎
  14. I got into my current band through JMB. Prior to that, mainly networking. People would ring me saying that such and such gave them my number as they were looking for a bass player. I have never really tried too hard to find a band, they usually find me. 😀
  15. Yes, thats probably it! He even had me fooled for a minute! 🤣
  16. John Falstrom thinks so. I think he may have a point. I always play slightly differently on my LPB MIM with the maple than my Olly white USA with the rosewood board. I never really though about it before. About 5:50 in the video.
  17. A Satellite short scale bought in the summer of 1982. I stuck adhesive paper on the frets to mark out what the notes were. It was terrible. Progressed from there to a Westone Thunder 1 from my mates mum's Littlewoods catalogue, And from there to an original 1984 Squire 57 JV Precision.
  18. Bump for price reduction £15.00
  19. We do the radio friendly version of Creep with the "So Very Special" lyric
  20. I only have 4. A USA Fender Precision which I bought new about 6 years ago which lives in its case and rarely comes out. A Stingray SUB Two more Precisions, a Mexican Standard and a bitsa which I fitted with Rotosound Tru Bass Black nylons and Seymour Duncan SPB1 pick ups for a vintage old school tone. Oh, and two acoustic 6 string guitars.
  21. I always gassed for a Stingray purely on their looks. I did own a 1996 2 EQ version 7 or 8 years back but I could not get a sound I liked out of it. I sold on here to Lojo. So I went back to my trusted Precisions.
  22. The neck on my MIM P was like a banana the other day. After a bit of a tweak its now OK again, but I have moved my guitars from the upstairs storage room to the slightly cooler living room. Mrs Hobbayne is none too pleased. 😂
  23. I know you can EQ a certain amount of top back into a dying string. Once its dead its better to change them. Thats what I,m trying to say. Sorry fretmeister.
