I recently auditioned (and got the job) as a bassist in a Blues/Rock band. Had a rehearsal the other night and jammed a version of Red House. The first guitarist soloed away for a bit, and then played rhythm while thesecond bod had a go. I couldnt believe my ears when they asked me to do a bass solo! After fumbling about for a bit in the upper regions of an E major scale they seemed quite happy. I hope its not going to be a regular thing!!

If we dont get any claps at the end of a number, I usually say something like 'Please dont clap, it makes us nervous!' We sometimes get a chuckle at least!

Just got my VM Jazz back from my tech following a setup, and to have the nut re cut. He suggested that I upgrade the pots, as they are rather crackly and a bit cack. He also says the there is a bit of a kick at the top of the neck! Not wishing to appear an idiot, I just nodded. What did he mean by this??

Wow! nice compliments Yes, I did nearly fluff the ending, but a bit of eye contact with the drummer saved it for me. Cheeky run eh? I,ll have another listen. No I havent played this before but I have heard them play a few times, so I just trotted out some cliched root third fifths and some scales, nothing complicated
