1.
Nah I quite like the look of the poles tbh. Silver marker maybe?
Could do....although (more seriously) I wonder whether a silver touch-up pen for a car might be an idea
 2.
Black Sharpie?
That would have been my suggestion as well.
 3.
Software midi mock ups are very big business with some exceptional, expensive libraries knocking around. Indeed, some of those mock ups end up making onto the final music soundtrack.
Absolutely - my neighbour uses East West packages and they absolutely beggar belief.
 4. I know two professional composers - they do adverts, TV soundtracks, corporate stuff, all kinds really...all in the box. Not a real instrument in sight. It's just easier and faster to use software From what I've seen the majority of folks don't give a hoot about the individual components of a piece of commercial music, if it hits what the client wants then you get paid.
 5. Theremin or maybe saw.
 6.
I'm really interested in how other currently value themselves as a musician.
Value and what financial worth are different things to some.
 7.
...Danny Thompson on John Martyn's Solid Air
Good choice. I'd be hard-pressed to say what the pinnacle is.
 8. There was a Fame bass on here that was for sale for ages. Quite Warwickesque.
 9.
No it isn't, the whole point of an active bass is to provide a buffered low impedance output to the bass so that the capacitance of the lead doesn't cause high frequency attenuation in the cable. Having active tone is just a by product of it being powered
I'd say the 'point' of an active bass is whatever the designer of the circuit wants.
 10. The video's Donkey Kong mode Tight as feck playing.
 11. I only have a P-bass cos a> it has a jazz neck and b> it has sentimental value. I'd not hang onto mine if it weren't for those reasons.
 12.
I think it means when can I play a b7 instead of a maj7 and get away with it. The answer is whenever you like. Sometimes it will sound OK and sometimes it wont.
Yep, that's my general understanding of it. Thanks
 13.
I'm lucky enough to not have a clue what anyone is talking about in this thread
I think I do, but I'm just going to sit quietly in case anyone asks me anything....
 14.
That's the basschat way
Some folks seem keen to make it so.
 15.
Sure can! 4 inches in length, 1.5 inches wide.
Grangur was bang on with the Bartolini tip - their M4 series are all 4"x1.5" http://www.bartolini.net/product-category/bass-pickup/4-string-bass-pickup/soapbar-4-string-bass-pickup/
 16. Wow, reading this thread I realise I've probably only played live maybe 10 times in the last couple of years. Hmm....used to be much more often, sobering thought.
 17. Funny advert ! Good for him for trying to raise a laugh rather than be po-faced about it.
 18.
The silicon Jorg is referring to is an adhesive and will be used to stick the coil to the crossover circuit board.
Indeed, some kind of silicone adhesive.
 19.
I take your point but surely if you ask for feedback then it only takes a minute or two to give feedback.
It does, but there's always dinner, a crying baby or an out-of-control cryo-arthimetic engine to sort out first !
 20.
Nah. I either deserve feedback or I don't. If I have to ask for it then it doesn't mean very much.
Well, I reckon it's two different things - wanting to and remembering to. I try not to think too badly of people for being forgetful.
 21.
Spirit of eden is one of my vey favourite albums.
It's very good.
 22.
Any thoughts folks?
Have you PM'd the people who've not reciprocated ? It may be they just need reminding.
 23.
one of the great gigs https://www.youtube....h?v=Rbwz532EQw8
That used to turn up quite often on Sky Arts, always used to watch it when it was on. No argument - it's a cracking show. Such a shame gets a superb airing. Stingray into Trace Elliot...there's an archetype for you.
 24.
I have opened numerous sets with some Michael Moorcock or Robert Calvert space poetry
Who was No. 2 ?
 25. Very nice !. Need ? Deserve ? Pah ! If you enjoy playing them, what the hell ?
