  1. Can I any a big thank you - I did a similar test at primary school (I ended up with a tenor horn), and have often wondered what it was, details are sketchy after this long. Anyhow...The Bentley Test. Good chance this is what I took, after a bit of research. Thanks !
  2. I love it....it's like opening the Haynes Manual for the Universe and finding it was written by Lewis Carrol
  3. First of all, how disappointing, not at all what you wanted to happen ! Hope it's an easy fix 👍
  4. If you kept the strap inside the case, you'd not need to put the Cambridgeshire badge on that strap, so you'd have a spare badge. So...you'd need to buy another bass from Cambridgeshire. 👍 No charge, I like to do some work pro bono...just to give something back.
  5. That's great news - glad you've got some on the way 👍 Do report back and let us know how they sound...
  6. Lovely phrase ! I had to check, but I think in English it would be something like 'That's heart of the matter' (Other linguists are available)...or more colloquially 'The thing is...' Thanks, every day is a school day, and that's just fine by me !
  7. Risky. Now you're only one forgetful moment away from total baseless panic.
  8. Now, that is good for metal
  9. I won the Internet once. It's made out of cheap plastic and that funny foil stuff that tinsel is made from. The dial fell off too. Jeesh, wish I'd gone for the speedboat.
  10. Dawn Lightnings. They're quite mellow for Jazz pickups, so if you wanted more bite I'd maybe go for another model, but they're really rather nice. Defined but more Caramel than Crunchie.
  11. Exactly ! You didn't go the ice cream van and ask for 'A 1100011 please !', did you ?
  12. I used to love The Cure. Apart from one album* and a handful of other songs, I just can’t listen to it anymore. Perfect for teenaged moping, I suppose, but these days it just sounds like teenaged moping *The Top, btw. It's a psychedelic jewel.
  13. Maybe have a word with Gemini Pickups - they're very helpful and willing to chat about special orders. I have a set of their jazz pickups and they're lovely. They also wound me a modded set of soapbars and some mini-humbuckers for a guitar I put together for a friend...all great stuff. https://www.geminipickups.co.uk
  14. My old NRV-10 has insert points on each channel that come after the input gain stage, so you can use that to bypass the preamps. Might be worth looking for an interface that has a similar thing.
  15. I hope it's digital - who wants smearing and, God forbid, tunnelling in that situation ? 🥺
  16. It certainly made my eyes water when we replaced ours and got the bill..it's an expensive business, but who wants to play bass with freezing fingers? And that temperature fluctuation sure plays havoc with your intonation
  17. I didn't make mine, I bought it from a shop in Stoke. So it goes
  18. One huge advantage over a bass. By law, this one comes with a full-set up
  19. To me, a bass from the year I started playing bass has much more relevance to me than one from when I was born. My 1986 Fender Jazz commemorates that excellent decision quite nicely
