1. before going away at the weekend i picked up a bartolini jazz pickup for my fortress to match the bart precision one i've already installed and a glockenklang 2-band active circuit to replace the stock mec one that came with the bass. just spent a very careful hour or so intalling the pickup and wiring up the preamp. and...whoooo ! what a difference !! the preamp is amazing...doesn't seem to colour the bass as much as the mec one, and the added touch of having a passive tone control when the active is bypassed is such a boon ! the glockenklang is a bit of a fiddly wiring job, but fairly straightforward if you take your time and are careful. so, thanks to thomann for the pre and allparts uk for the bartolini.
  2. interested in the 5-string... PM'd

Maybe the rather than a compressor i should throw a eq pedal at the end to build my signal back up? Or the mxr/dunlop m80 di? Andy
how about the mxr micro amp ?

    Live Sound
Thankfully i've been lucky enough to only be in bands who's soundcheck consists of blasting through a song (maby 2), some quick mumbles of 'yup, yup', then asking the soundman if s/he was happy before getting off the stage. Never on stage for more than 10 minutes.
plus the one. and i always let the sound engineer do their job...if you hack them off they can make you sound awful. let them get on with it.

UKmail ? the two strikes and you're out merchants ? i hate getting stuff delivered by them - if you aren't in (or don't arrange a neighbour) twice, it sits in some warehouse in west ham for you to collect. luckily my parcel from them was delivered to my neighbour's, as arranged last night. btw - yesterday was a NBD for me, but i picked it up myself

  16. sounds like a lot of fun girlfren and i have started jamming recently (she's started on violin lessons after a ~30 year hiatus, and me on guitar or bass), and it's a blast. if we ever get round to recording anything i'll let you folks hear it.
  17.
The Steel Leather is alright for clean tones but you can forget about using other effects (unless you like the sounds it gets with other pedals!) As it boosts certain top end frequenices is messed up my disortions as it was acting against them as it were still a good pedal if you play mostly clean!
plus the one - i had a steel leather just after they came out and found exactly this problem...fine for clean, but a bit problematic with other effects.
  18. that's amazing. beautiful work.
