1. i thought questions about the price of the item on sale here were meant to be dealt with by PM. 5. If you believe the price of the item is too cheap/expensive, then please PM the seller as to why. Do not ridicule or undermine the seller by posting how much you think it's worth or how much it can be gotten for elsewhere, the laws of supply and demand will determine if the item sells at that price.
2. ack - beat me to it ! hope it works out well gary.
3. as girlfren's away...it was bound to happen left to right are: epiphone jack casady status t-bass (essex-born, like me) dean rhapsody 8-string
4. it's a sunny evening. a tenner off. c'mon...think of that valve warmth keeping you warm when all this nice weather's over.
5. up for grabs here is my ebs valve drive pedal - in very good condition just got it out of the box where it's been languishing for a while, and apart from a tiny bit of switch cleaner needed to get rid of a bit of dusty crackle on the bass control is working fine. i'd hang onto it if i could, but finances and floating guilt about having too much gear i don't use demands i let it go. it comes with the original euro-style (two-prong) psu but i'll chuck in a suitable uk-style one from johnny shredfreak too i'm looking for [s]£170[/s] [s]£160[/s] £130 delivered in the UK
6. matthew's a great guy to deal with, so don't hesitate to dive in.
Bear in mind that while a chorus does thicken things up a bit, it will also make you sound '80s as hell.
plus the one
8. jimmy just popped round to buy my ridge farm gas cooker valve DI. top chap - wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
9.
That not what I mean by a noticeable difference. How about if you were in your 50s or even 60s, and the rest of the band were around 21 ? Where do you draw the line, come to that, at what point would the rest of the band ? How old is too old ? Sorry, dont mean to hijack the thread, but the point has been raised now.
if everyone in the band was happy with it, why should it be an issue ? i'm not denying your point, but i'd hope that age isn't an obstacle to making good music...it depends why you're forming a band in the first place.
10.
it's not rock bottom, rock bottom was a year or so ago, they are creeping up now. And outwith basschat they didn't crash as far either.
prolly sold my $$ too soon then...aaah well, i still have my fortress and my streamer std. oh and thank you..."outwith" - you've just improved my wordpower
11. now i wonder... is this a bass solo ? (at 3.08)
You might have some joy with a pedal like the MXR M108. Running it before the BDDI will allow you to get different tones out of the BDDI distortion, while running it after will allow a general boost and eq tweak.
plus the one. even discounting the distortion, you could use it as a two-channel preamp, with different eqs on each channel.
13.
cheers... would be perfect if not quite so expensive :-)
what about something like an mxr micro amp ? readily available and quite cheap 2nd hand prolly not clincially flat in terms of eq, but if it's always in your chain you could get round it.
14. any solo that is there solely to show off how good someone's playing is totally pointless imho , and very few bass solos do anything but that. i was cajoled into playing a bass solo in the punky/mental band i was in many years ago. i just played a truncated version of 4'33
15. whatever you do - i quite like the look of the socket well staying black. top work !
16. maybe try to dig in a bit harder when you play and get a bit of clank going on ? the eq trick that 51m0n mentioned would deffo be worth a try.
17. that neck looks lovely. tidy bit of work
18.
For me it's not been too difficult as it seems to be very much a 'genre' thing. No, I wouldn't 'fit' in one of them there grunge thrash prog rock bands, but I wouldn't want to be there anyway.
what ? you just nailed my favourite genre
19.
Also you should only ever have one layer of string wound on the post this will affect your tuning.
i've never had any tuning problems with my usual 2 or 3, but ymmv.
20.
You know what I don't think there's anyone I'd want to spend an hour with. The problem I find is that I'm crap at talking to people and I'm bound to say something plain dumb or regret something so it's probably best I don't spend any time with any of those bassists I admire and equally I'd hate to start chatting with somebody and find they're total prats.
i think most people when faced with a musician they admire would feel the same...
21. nope, but it's mighty purdy !
22.
Doesn't really bother me too much, I've just picked up a job playing with a singer/songwriter that hasn't quite hit her 20th birthday yet. I'd like to think that I got the gig based on my charm, wit, sophistication and youthful looks...
one of the best bands i've ever been in had a guitarist who was 21 when i was 37... be both thought a lot of each other's playing so it was never an issue. sadly a lot of people see it as an obstacle...when it doesn't have to be.
23. totally unrealistic expectations there... the market price for warwicks is rock-bottom at the moment. edit: and yes...it's not a $$ (bit slow on the uptake today)
24.
What kind of music?
a wobbly line between post-rock (tortoise/bark psychosis), noise (sonic youth/my bloody valentine) and post-punk (wire/joy division)... it generally plays out like this... i answer an ad, meet up with an interested musician, and then i get the fob-off, even before a note has been played. i see the faces drop when they realise i'm not 10-15 years younger than i am.
25. well, as someone's who's having a hard time getting past people who think 41 is too old to play originals... musicians who value ability over age.
