2.
Jaco's amazing though because he had all the elements of a great musician. I don't like his tone and most of the music I've heard from him, but that's just my taste.
see...that's what i'm talking about
 3.
Great playing, but a little too up front in the mix for me. I think it detracts from what she's doing a tad
plus the one, a bit...but it's sure brightened up my lunch break at work ! as an aside: the problem with sacred cows is that they're either grazing someone else's prairie or getting rustled and branded. a hefty does of "agree to differ" is needed on basschat these days... ymmv

 12.
Really appreciate the hard work you guys do on our behalf.
plus the one
 13.
Yes sure they are tools, but normally nobody is watching me when I'm using my screwdriver, but when I'm playing music on stage to a possible audience of 100s (and hopefully maybe even 1000s) then IMO how I look and how my instrument looks is very important to me (although playability and tone is just as important).
oddly, it doesn't bother what other people think any of my basses looks, just whether i like it or not. they are just tools, but using jennifer's example, a screwdriver is designed primarily for function so aesthitics aren't that much of an issue - the materials and ergonomics are the key. basses can be functional as well as pretty, so why not chose one that does both...if you can. (btw - after two hours last night with my new swr head...i am getting into the sound of my fortress)
 14.
Can we put this thread to sleep? Why are you all bickering, I don't understand. The way I see it people are entitled to spend their pennies how they wish. If a £60 bass is available for sale you would buy with the understanding that it is a bodged job and not a Stradivarius, that you either make do with it or try it to improve it within reasons. After all we all know you can't polish a turd but... from a charitable point of view Sue Ryder is indeed a charity and when you buy their cheap basses or guitar, your purchase will have contributed to saving a life or making life better for terminally ill people You have made a difference for someone, and that is all that matters. Maybe you all need to be reminded who and what Sue Ryder does: Sue Ryder Care supports people with specialist palliative, end of life and long-term neurological care needs. Each year they provide 4 million hours of care to people living with cancer, multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, stroke and brain injury.
/standing ovation/
 15. each to their own, but i think the fortress is one of the best looking wariwck models there is, but i'm struggling to get on with the tone. jack spratt and all that !
 16. ok folks after spending an afternoon with my cowpoke i think it's time to admit it has to go. i'm going to take some better pictures in the light of day, but here's one to give you an idea. it's been put back to the state i got it in about 7 years ago, pickups and hardware-wise. it some issues: 1) earth hum - this has always been a slight issue, even when i got it. i've spent the afternoon trying to fix it and i've had enough. a good tech would no doubt put this right in a jiffy. 2) the previous owner replaced some of the wiring (see 1 above) the active still works fine. 3) iirc the front pickup isn't stock - it's a kent armstrong OPB (??) sounds fab tho ! 4) there's some chipping in the finish round the control cavity plate at the back. 4) it needs a set-up. bearing in mind the above, it's a great bass, in good condition and is quite a head turner. this is pick-up only from tottenham, north london. £250
 17. good sounds but as always, it's neck pickup for me on a jazz, all the way
 18.
Yes you are right, the ads drive me made. I put the compressor between the audio out of the TV and hifi amp.
sorry to hijack a bit...but how did you find it worked ?
 19. just out of curiosity, were you using it to tame loud advert breaks ?
 20. this used to be mine, and it's a really good player. amped, it sounds good. there's no on-board pre, but with a decent preamp it cuts through, but with a nice acoustic tone.
 21.
...is there a reason for this or is it just a trend at the moment?
GAS.
 22.
It's really good, I picked it over EHX Q-tron and others. The dry and fx knobs did the trick for me. I wish I had found more use for it than the occasional noodle in the house.
that's what sold me. i've tried a few EHX filters and always found myself reaching for some kind of blend/volume control. cheers mano.
 23.
I have one on my pedalboard and you won't be dissapointed, it's very versatile, the best envelope I've used so far.
looking fwd to trying it out.
 24. i've been after an decent envelope filter for a while for the techno/spacerock/dub group i play with... and this looks like the business. i'm in...pm'd
 25. i've got a the aforementioned johnny shredfreak and also a bog-standard maplins 'block'style psu. to be honest i've found the switching supply from johnny shredfreak a little more prone to mains noise on-stage, but there's not a lot of difference in my mind. the switching unit is a lot smaller, so if space is a premium, it's deffo an option.
