1. Up for sale I have my Fender Flea jazz bass. You all know what this is, awesome instrument, lightweight and punchy. It isn't getting played over my Warwicks so I'm moving her on. In 'good condition', relic is as it left the factory, I actually really like it. Comes with it's fender gigbag. More pictures available on request. Bass is located in Leamington spa. Cheers
2. Looking at the picture of the back of the headstock, is that the original neck? As they didn't start stamping headstocks like that until around two years ago...
3. Interesting, do you have further details regarding the Masterbuild? I was not aware they did this in 2004, intrigued!
4. That list is the most pointless one like it I have seen. He has included random custom order instruments as Vintage and collectable??? Just bizarre, I don't know who he is trying to appeal to with this list. Its honestly like they are all random choices.
5.
Oh it's certainly reducing relief now when tightened. TBH I won't be experimenting just yet, the bass is in need of some fretwork anyway so I'll probably just chat to the luthier about it.
I lost patience and experimented. It works! Makes sense really....
6.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! This is what fender should be building instead of the one he hasn't used for a decade as his signature! Ace
If you're talking about the shell pink jazz, he recorded I'm With You with the jazz, so not quite a decade. Not taken at all by the sound of the current Fender, would love to hear this!
7. Bought a bass from me, smooth as a baby's bum. Would highly recommend!
8. Incredible, isn't it? Sounds great stacked with a B*K too. I can't use a B*K alone now though, just doesn't have the balls the AO does.
9.
They were cheaper before the thing that must not be named.
The thing that hasn't happened yet. That's the more frustrating thing about it. Currency crash based on uncertainty.
10.
..in fact, I've built one for you. They don't do vintage olive, but hopefully it's not a dealbreaker. Lots of other colours to choose from, too. And it was so much cheaper, I've thrown in some Hipshot Ultralites and Hipshot bridge for you. Comes out at about 1100 quid.
Why did I think these basses were quite a lot cheaper than that?? Swear there was talk of £600 and £700 for a marusisjfhgysikz not so long ago?
11. Another green muff....
12. Would love to sell this this weekend, make me an offer good people
13.
Sounds like a plan and a good idea! Before you do though have you established which way the rod is working? Plug a tuner in and see what happens when you go each way. In the event that you are convex rather than concave when maxed then it might well be worth a try, especially if the rod just drops out.
Oh it's certainly reducing relief now when tightened. TBH I won't be experimenting just yet, the bass is in need of some fretwork anyway so I'll probably just chat to the luthier about it.
14.
sure
It seems obvious now you have said it.... How's your fretless 5th anniversary, similar to John's and mine?
15.
you might simply take outthe rod and turn it around
Does that work??
16. TAB is excellent, for its purpose.
17. Interesting stuff, John. Interestingly, my 5th Anniversary has the opposite problem, a tad too little relief. Reluctant to choose heavier strings to sort it, but even with the truss rod completely slack the neck still doesn't move, straight as an arrow!
18.
Sorry Kev - I've unintentionally blundered into hijacking your thread. Actually (now I've read your topic title properly!) mine was different: it was an 'SG Re-issue' (2008). I'm not sure what the differences were but if the Gibson craftsmen (?!) hadn't changed in the intervening 12 months, then I'm sure yours is at least as good as mine was GLWTS
I think they were all called reissues mate, since it was first reissued in 2005 🙂
19. Nooooooooo! The yelllow.... 🙁 Still, looking tasty! Need to get the back of the neck done too though bud!
20.
I had the black one - absolutely superb!
Didn't even know they did them in black! They are wonderful instruments, believe this one is Heritage Cherry?
21. Up for sale I have a gorgeous 2009 Gibson SG Standard Bass. This was the top end SG bass with the nitro finish, not to be confused with the much cheaper matte finish option. In excellent condition, only wear is some buckle rash, pretty unavoidable with this kind of finish! Pic shows it heavily exaggerated in light. It has been upgraded with a Hipshot full contact bridge, original bridge included with the sale with case candy. Also has an ebony thumb rest fitted and comes with spare knobs. Specs can be found here http://www.gibson.co...ndard-Bass.aspx Although ignore the new features for 2015, obviously the Hipshot is a better quality bridge than the Babicz, IMO very overrated hardware. 30.5 inch scale, all mahogany body/neck, Grover Tuners, top spec stuff. Its a joy to play, but it doesn't have any place in the progressive and power metal genre of music my bands play in! Pictures. Located in Leamington Spa. Comes with the Canadian made official hardcase, which in itself is a wonderful bit of kit. Thanks
22. Do you have more pictures of the bass? Please pm me
23. Up for sale I have a lovely Musicman Stingray 3EQ. In fantastic condition, comes with its case and a tort, black and white pick guard. A shade over 9 1/2 lbs on my scales, great weight for a 'Ray. Here are some photos, happy to take more if needed lovely grain in the Ash, it really is a great example of a Stingray: Looking for £900, bass is located in Leamington Spa. Keen for trades as well as a cash sale, open to anything so try me Warwicks are always good.... Thanks Kev
