Lovely example! Out of interest, is you Ng-2 routed out of a combustion body as well? Was quite surprised to see another NG-2 with the standard combustion routing overwritten under the pickguard!

Any flexibility on your budget? Now is a great time to by Warwick basses as the market is quite bluntly on its arse. At the cheaper end there is this http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254588-warwick-fna-jazzman-4-nirvana-black-made-in-germany-2005/page__hl__warwick__fromsearch__1 but an extra £400 or so will get you a NT in the current market, silly money for a very, very good instrument.

If I was in a band that decided to take that route, I would no longer be in the band But the rest of what he told you seems to be utter rubbish, fivers are more popular now than ever I would wager.

SSIs for less than £1k a plenty this year already, and there is a Thumb NT5 for £975! Considering what you are getting for your money, crazy! The market is everchanging, some brands will, for whatever bizarre reason, always attract a good price (Fender e.t.c.), others go through fazes. One thing us for sure, there is no set 'rule' in valuation.

I would very keen on trying one. $199 would put it cheaper than the competition.

Think this thread sums up the issue, every has a different opinion and taste on this so it is very difficult to give advice for you! You need to get out and try as many as you can. If I were recommending, VT Bass DI and B7K would be my recommendations to you, but that is what I like

You need to try some pedals out. Youtube videos are the worst way of trying to find something. Aim second hand and try a few, you will easily sell them on if they are not for you, and that way you try them with YOUR bass and YOUR equipment with YOUR technique, all of which radically change how a drive pedal works.

Its 99% time relief or low nut slots. However, it can be the frets. How do they look, and does it quite suddenly stop buzzing after a certain point? EDIT wasn't totally clear what I meant there, if you bend the string when fretting on the fret, does it still buzz or stop? If it stops, that may point towards the first fret being worn. Is it just the first fret, or just worse there?
