Ampeg SCR-DI
According to this the price is $279, so I'd expect it to be more than £200. It will have to be really, really good at that price. http://www.premiergu...eils-the-scr-di
Hmm, I would expect closer to £279, given the way the pound-dollar usually works for us. £249, perhaps, which would put it above its competitors. The Scrambler side needs to be good to justify that, for sure.
  3.
Vegetarian here I'm afraid.
I have some carrots? And a rather smashing looking turnip.
  4. Does he realise that the top and bottom string are off the fretboard?
  5. Just picked up a set of these from David off this here forum, strung them up on my Wal and found they are not for me. Literally had about 5 minutes use. They were fitted to a 4 so the B has not been cut but the E-G has been cut for 3 winds on a 2+2 headstock with the larger tuner posts, so should fit most. £20 shipped
  6. Firstly, do you mean actual clones, or pedals that are designed to try and get that sound?
  7.
Mind you the fender guitar was a design brief in how to create a cheap, mass produceable guitar....
The obvious reasons were the fact it was the first bass, not because of the quality
  8.
I guess what I'm saying is that if I pulled the trigger on such a kit and added high quality hardware is there any reason why it can't be every bit as good as a high end boutique bass?
So many, many reasons, a lot of which has already been covered in this thread. It is how the wood is worked with by a skilled luthier that sets apart the cheap from the expensive. You could have the finest quality pieces of Ash and Maple in the world with the best hardware, pickups and preamps money can buy, but with all due respect you will not make a bass of Dingwall/Roscoe et al quality. That is why these companies exist, otherwise we would all be doing it People talk about big names selling instrument, but ask yourself how they became big names? Fender, well, for obvious reasons, but the likes of Wal, Dingwall, Roscoe, Fodera, they got their names because of the quality of their work with wood, and not because of the quality of the original planks of wood instead.
  9. Ta for the info, those pickups look great, remind me of the Warwick Twin-J pickups, and they are excellent too! Best of luck with the sale, it's a stunner!
  10.
That's lovely. Bubinga top and body of?? Is that mahogany?
I was thinking Walnut, but could be mahogany.... I'm not up on this model, what do all those knobs do! I'd guess some kind of semi parametric EQ based on the name...
  11. Ahhh, so tempted but too much stuff coming in at the moment, need stuff going out! I could offer a kidney but I would need cash my way, perhaps a slice of liver?
Does this mean there's gonna be an influx of VT Bass's and Sansamp's hitting eBay fairly soon then?
My VT Bass DI is trembling... Looking forward to trying one of these out. Big footprint, though, and the Scrambler circuit sounds a bit pants from that demo.
  14.
though guitar guitar seem to have an indian soap opera clip for a demo!! WTF! http://www.guitargui...=15012215470158
Best pedal demo video ever.
  15.
Speechless.
Okay, just about recovered enough to speak... ...What in the world! It is a piece of metal! And not even a particularly useful piece of metal looking at it. The way I look at it, there are many die hard Zvex fans out there, and the CEO is shamelessly exploiting that fact. I thought the Woolly Mammoth was a ridiculously overpriced pedal given its simplicity and the ease of cloning it, now that looks a complete bargain....
  16.
For a few seconds you had me thinking they'd re-issued the 4005.
And me!
  17. They are on preorder everywhere at £1499 if you check online, good price point! Rounded edges = complete win for me, I could be checking one out
  18. There is a set on here for £3k, big money indeed.
  19.
I have a '99 Streamer Std, with a Basswood body and Wenge neck. Fitted a Badass II bridge and gave the light natural finished body a sanding and stained to match the neck. Quite a light body, so the resulting neck dive was cured with a suede strap.
Wenge? Awesome! Certainly will be one of very few STD models that has a wenge neck, I did not even realise there was an overlap. Still looks like a Carolena Pine body though, although that could just as easily be another name for Basswood, I have never heard of the stuff other than on Warwick basses! To the OP, £475? If you have played it and it feels great then buy it, however you could find one for less, that is Corvette/Corvette Proline money. But again, if it plays well and you want it then go for it!
  20. And a week in, how is it?
  21.
Indeed, though the money part may prove the most problematic!
What kinda cost are we talking, if you don't mind sharing?
  22. And here we have the funkiest bass to ever appear in the Basses for Sale forum! Fantastic! And somewhat more practical than the later Bootsy sig
  23. Last time I shipped a bass I had no cardboard box. Instead, I wrapped the hardcase in 4 layers of heavy duty bubble wrap, put the case and wrap into 2 layers of rubble quality bin bags and use a roll of brown tape to seal it all off. safe as houses, arrived perfectly and, unless your a packing properly and suspending the bass case inside the cardboard box, it couldn't have been safer.
