1.
I played at todays practice with my Hartke HA2500 head (liberated from the combo) into the Barefaced Compact, thats 175 watts at 8 ohms
HA2500 into a single Compact is a combination that I use frequently. Surprisingly loud, and good, isn't it?
 2.
am I right in thinking that a 25 watt amp is too small to drive a 100watt speaker,
No. That be fine. The only benefit I can see would be if a 50W speaker could be had significantly cheaper.
 3.
...there were comparatively few mental slippers? Discuss slappers... not into slippers...
Nowt wrong with a few mental slappers - brightened up many a dull night at The Rat & Parrot...
 4. Mudpup has a BB2 and gigs round your way, I think.
 5.
Surely anything on Barefaced Mountain would involve a Midget and his Big Twin? ;-)
And possibly a Big One
 6.
I have just purchased and Ampeg PF 500 and a Barefaced Super 12 to also run with a Mk 1 Barefaced Compact. At the back of the amp there is a speakon and jack output. With both cabs having speakon outputs. Does it matter which I run to which or is it all gravy?
No - electrically it's all the same, the outputs are parallel connected.
 7.
Nope farted when i didnt cut the 15db
But you said it farted with the button in. That's 15dB cut... ???
 8. There's a dead cheap GK 1x15 in the for sale section right now... Edit: there ya go. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/219222-gk-blx-rbx-115-price-drop/page__pid__2278141#entry2278141
 9.
I like everything about that except the stripes.
...and the white scratchplate that's gone manky. I'll get my coat...
 10.
Not sure I could manage with an S12 on the bus though....
The bus? Ah...I always drive, but I've often wondered how MrsB gets my gear to gigs
 11. In terms of footprint (floor space required) a G1/2 Compact is the same size as a S12.
 12. Personally, I wouldn't spend 15+ quid on a batch of picks that you might not like. Look on ebay/Amazon etc, and get a mixed bag of different sizes, thicknesses etc, and see which ones you feel comfortable with. IMO, YMMV etc...
 13. http://barefacedbass.com/index.php?page=super-twelve ---quote--- If your amp doesn't run below 4 ohms then the only way to expand a Super Twelve rig is to add a second Super Twelve and wire the two cabs in series with a special cable. However you must NOT series wire dissimilar cabs such as a Midget or Compact or indeed any other manufacturer's cabs. ---x---
 14. I don't need another Compact. I don't need another Compact. I don't need another Compact...
 15. What sort of sounds? For basic keyboard synthy swirly stuff, I use the pedal synth on my Zoom B9. Anything more than that... I've enough trouble coordinating two hands, without adding feet into the equation as well.
 16. Bought a Vintage V4 from RandomBass. Super smooth deal - good comms throughout, arrived well packed and exactly as described. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with Geoff again...cheers Matey.
 17.
Of course Ashdown !! But everyone I seem to know whos ever had one has bust it somehow... blown up, killed, or however its put, broken it....all bar one exception of a Mag 300 4x10 combo that seemed to last but other than that, are they not considered very unreliable ?
The Ashdowns in the rehearsal rooms that I use seem to fare OK, and I'd probably still be using an old MAG400 115 combo if it weren't for the weight.
 18.
Tea lights are widely available.
They used to be, but I think my wife's recently cornered the market...
 19.
Doubling the impedence results in increased output from the amp...
ITYM halving...
 20.
sounds like a fine idea Bob. I'm in. Might be able to get rid of some of my wifes dodgy old choices
I'm in Gary - I'll swap you some of my wifes equally dodgy ones for some of your wifes...
 21. Get around the too bright issue by spending less And sound to light flashing stuff just looks like cheesy '70's disco IMO.
 22. In a simiar situation to the OP, I recently bought a couple of LED PAR56's - the Thomann (Stairville) cheapie ~30 quid each 151 LED ones. While I'm sure there are better lights out there, they're fine for our needs, and a big improvement on repositioning the spotlight that normally points at the dartbaord in the Rat & Parrot. I just have them fading between colours, and leave 'em to it. Gonna get another couple any day now.
 23.
We did some upgrades yesterday
That ties in with when, having switched to the full site on my iPhone, I no longer have the option to switch back to the mobile site...
 24. There's been a few Tanglewaters for sale here recently. Check out the comments in the For Sale threads. I've a Classic J, which I really like. A lot of bass for the money, IMO.
