I played keys as a teenager and a friend got me into Rush, so I bought "A Show Of Hands" 'cos it had loads of songs with keyboards on. A reasonable choice. Then I heard the Geddy's bass run on "closer to the heart" on side 4 (it was on vinyl in those days) and knew that I just HAD to make those sounds. Sadly I never have, but I've occasionally come close.

Only one of them can hold a tune though, the other couldn't carry it in a bucket!

My pet peeve is songs/choruses that rely on "wooahhh" instead of writing proper lyrics. It's just lazy songwriting.

Re-watching the Metallica S&M DVD from the 90's. The footage looks really grainy and dated by today's standards but the audio is great!

Nope, Jazz bass straight down the line. I’ve got a P for the odd occasion when I feel like a change, but for me it’s Jazz bass, Jazz bass and thrice Jazz bass.

Thanks for this, I'd forgotten all about the Jaco exercises. I have the book (somewhere) and have only watched the video once; I just find it too sad to rewatch.
