1. Me too. I have a VERY heavy touch and I clank a lot on fretted basses - fortunately I only use these for rock and metal playing, and it's reduced on my fretless cos it doesn't have, erm, frets. It's like slapping; you'll be conscious of trying to master the technique and getting a lovely bouncy, fluent feel to your lines and it'll really get you down for a while. Then one day it'll just 'click'. Days like that are just awesome, so keep going!
2. Ooh, a VT2. Bloody loverly!
3.
Looked at it in town the other day, nice enough book but no Wal pictures, put it down then
Au contraire mon petit soutien-gorge; I seem to recall a lovely Wal with a leather and press-stud affair in there somewhere...
4. I'm not surprised by that at all, my brief dealings with John have always been very pleasant and hassle-free. And yes, they are indeed awesome preamps!
5. what's it doing/not doing?
6. Bump for price reduction
7. Had a hardback one for years. Lots of lovely, GAS inducing pics. Don't know about the paperback version, but the hardback's got a couple of lovely fold-out pages for some VERY special basses (I think a '61 Jazz, Pino's fretless MusicMan etc...).

9. very, very carefully. Best leave it to someone who knows...
10. My board's Ebanol and I play with rounds - it does *not* look pretty. sounds good though.
11. XL T shirt? Do they have other sizes too?
12. Withdrawn
13. I tend to get the intro to "Walkabout" by RHCP when I'm walking downstairs most days. Odd. Good line though... http://youtu.be/J1MwPDtPjbs
14. Just had a look at the xylem stuff - looks like there's a bit of 'Carl Thompson' in there. Which is nice!
15. It's all true - great pickups for less than the price of a full body wax... Best of luck skipper! Enjoy your retirement.
16. A simple compressor with a 'Make up gain' knob would do it - it would also even out the dynamics for you, so I'd be tempted to use that rather than an EQ.
17. Nice! Black and bare wood is a classy look for a bass.

19. wowzers! Have you tried lower gain transistors in it? it might make it a bit more erm, useable?

Sold

Nice these, I swear by my DHA pedal.
21. Compressor pedal or an eq pedal with a master volume to boost the output.
22. I keep my "thrown together in a shed" 1x12 in my shed (cost about £20) to make. I wouldn't put my hydrive in there though...
