Excellent pickup in great condition for sale. This was fitted to my old Precision briefly whilst an issue with the original pickup was repaired. Classic P bass sound. Does what’s expected of it with no issues. Can post for £3.50 signed for. UK only.
I’m selling this spare body that was used with my ‘78 P bass neck when the original body was being repaired. This is from a recent Squier 70’s Precision. As you can see the body has had a repair and a touch up at the bottom as it had a bump in transit. With neck and hardware attached it weighs around 4.2kgs. I have included a cream none original scratchplate. The earth wires are there as are the strap buttons. It’s UK only and I can post for £12.
Seller sounds very full of themselves. I wouldn’t pay anywhere near what they are asking. It appears to be one of those with the bad quality finish and is peeling. It has been stored in silage.
I’ll have a look at the video. The bass reminds me of those ‘Robin Ranger’ branded US/MIJ basses you used to see in US Bass Player magazine years ago. I liked the look of those too.
I take your point about the pickup rout but I like the overall design, different take on your classic Fender. I would not go anywhere near this at that price.
To like the look of something is very different from wanting to purchase it however.
I like the look of this - don’t know if the price is good or anything about the company but it looks good....for a relic type bass.

Haven’t we debated this one before? That logo is a more modern Ibanez one surely. Kay with an Ibanez decal?

Yes the Grabber bridge is a simple string through BBOT design. I have kept the metal ashtray cover on mine as the saddle grub screws are so tall they are likely to snag your hand brutally.
Good luck if you can find a good one at a decent price prowla. Mine is a little beast it’s got a great sounding pickup and a lovely neck. On the pic it has a hipshot bridge but I reverted back to the original.
Fender Contemporary Precision Bass Made in Japan 1986/87. These basses were known as the Boxer series in Japan apparently . They were known for their excellent necks and very powerful pickups. These are more commonly seen in a PJ configuration. It’s an excellent bass in very good condition albeit with some dings and paint chips.
Pickup in person however I am happy to post at buyers cost in the UK only. No trades.
Thanks I’ve found it now. There are a few Grabber copies available, the most common are from the Italian ‘Melody’ brand. I’ve also seen Maya and Kimbara versions. Not a patch on the real thing though. My ‘74 Grabber is one of my keeper basses.
Yes it’s the same bass it’s just been cleaned up the speed knobs are the giveaway as the originals would have been black. There was sticker residue on the back of the neck where there had been markers or tape. It was unclear if this was varnish damage so whoever bought it took a risk. Fair play to them. There are a few items I see on eBay that are flipped I haven’t a problem with that if people have taken the time to clean something up and have taken a gamble in the first place. If they make a few quid that’s fine and £350 with best offer isn’t outrageous - though I’d personally go £250 max😉 There are some cheeky sods out there however and I have my own list of those to avoid or I’m just plain mistrustful of. I’m sure we all have them. 🙂
