  1. Yes the Grabber bridge is a simple string through BBOT design. I have kept the metal ashtray cover on mine as the saddle grub screws are so tall they are likely to snag your hand brutally.
  2. I’ve had a couple, great sounding and playing but both I had weighed over 5kgs!
  3. Good luck if you can find a good one at a decent price prowla. Mine is a little beast it’s got a great sounding pickup and a lovely neck. On the pic it has a hipshot bridge but I reverted back to the original.
  4. This is my ‘natural selection’ including my ‘74 Grabber!
  5. Fender Contemporary Precision Bass Made in Japan 1986/87. These basses were known as the Boxer series in Japan apparently . They were known for their excellent necks and very powerful pickups. These are more commonly seen in a PJ configuration. It’s an excellent bass in very good condition albeit with some dings and paint chips. Pickup in person however I am happy to post at buyers cost in the UK only. No trades.
  6. Thanks I’ve found it now. There are a few Grabber copies available, the most common are from the Italian ‘Melody’ brand. I’ve also seen Maya and Kimbara versions. Not a patch on the real thing though. My ‘74 Grabber is one of my keeper basses.
  7. Can’t seem to be able to follow the link - may have gone?
  8. Yes it’s the same bass it’s just been cleaned up the speed knobs are the giveaway as the originals would have been black. There was sticker residue on the back of the neck where there had been markers or tape. It was unclear if this was varnish damage so whoever bought it took a risk. Fair play to them. There are a few items I see on eBay that are flipped I haven’t a problem with that if people have taken the time to clean something up and have taken a gamble in the first place. If they make a few quid that’s fine and £350 with best offer isn’t outrageous - though I’d personally go £250 max😉 There are some cheeky sods out there however and I have my own list of those to avoid or I’m just plain mistrustful of. I’m sure we all have them. 🙂
  9. I watched this Yamaha last week but didn’t bid as it was a bit of a mess, here it is again albeit cleaned up (and priced up). A nice bass for someone but quickly flipped. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BB-450-Bass-Guitar-4-String-Very-Rare/184613045454?hash=item2afbcb84ce%3Ag%3A4VoAAOSwgTVf-LQq&LH_ItemCondition=3000
  10. He reduced the original 2k+ to £950 on the Pawnshop Mustang - still £500 more than it’s worth.

  13. Hi Marc yes I weighed it on a digital scale which I weigh all my basses on. To put it into perspective my JV Squier ‘83 P bass is 4.1kgs, my JV Jazz ‘83 is 4.4kgs. My original walnut 77 Precision sold on here recently was 4.5kgs. The CV basses do vary and a black one that I owned and subsequently sold weighed 4.3kgs. You may notice I’m always asking for weights of basses in the sales ads as it’s important to me owing to a shoulder injury 😊.
  14. Ah right not seen one before looks very unfender 🙂
  15. No I meant one of these an MB 4
  16. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FENDER-DIMENSION-Mk1-4strng/193831413133?hash=item2d2140a58d:g:35UAAOSwHHpe5Lv6 Not sure what it is but it’s not a Dimension. Looks like the neck from one of those Fender MIJ (and Squier) basses they made in the 90’s with two aside tuners. The body is all wrong. Looks like a weird bitsa.
  17. It’s now been withdrawn! Or a deal has been struck.
  18. The seller will feign ignorance no doubt. It’s got a lot of bids for at best a bitsa.
  19. Squier CV 70’s Precision Bass in Walnut This bass is unmarked and as new with inspection tag and new Rotosound strings. It weighs 3.6kgs and plays and sounds great. The walnut finish shows off some lovely figuring on the back of the bass. The neck on this bass is amazing for the money. I bought it on a whim very recently as it looked and played so well but I always revert to my older basses. Comes with original box so happy to courier at buyer’s cost UK only. Sorry no trades.
  20. A little bit heavy for my tastes but what a great looking Sting Ray !
  21. Lovely. What is the beast’s weight?
  22. Not for me Karl on account of the Jazz width neck. A nice curiosity though! GLWTS Mark.
  23. What’s the weight of it please?
  24. Are the rest of the parts - hardware etc. original to the bass? Any refinishing to the neck, original decal? Thanks
