I bought this very recently from Brian on the forum it’s a superb bass however I definitely need to buy sub 4kgs basses these days and I do prefer maple boards. Lovely US made 1998 Fender Precision Standard with Fender shaped case and all accessories and tags. A superb bass in a rare metallic purple finish. Rosewood neck, very playable without any dings other than one at the headstock - see picture. It plays superbly and the neck is straight and true with a fully working trussrod. It weighs 4.2kgs. Only selling because my injured shoulder says no. I’m not interested in trades sorry. Personal pickup preferred but I can post at buyers cost in the UK only

Another Fender Precision Bass for sale this time a nice maple neck E Series from Japan. Classic looking bass with maple board and white scratchplate. It’s all original and plays really well. It’s light at under 4kgs and is strung with Daddario light gauge nickel rounds. There are dings and scratches but nothing terrible, some scuffing to the neck and a small chip behind the nut at the E string. Nothing that effects the tuning stability or action. It’s a workhorse bass and has seen plenty of action. All original hardware and pickups, it plays and sounds fantastic. Sorry no trades on this one. It comes with a decent gig bag. I’d rather have it picked up but can post in the U.K. at buyer’s cost. Please withdraw as I have decided to keep it.

Fantastic! I knew a bit of investment and time would bring it back to life. Well done Brian.

These instruments were made in Japan alongside the legendary JV range and to the same high standard. They didn’t have the vintage features of the JV models but are well respected instruments nonetheless. Don’t confuse the SQ models with the ‘beginners market’ Squiers of later years, these are up there with the best US made instruments and are becoming sought after now JV models have started to attract big money. The necks are particularly wonderful. This one is in excellent condition, only a few minor marks and scuffs. The neck is immaculate, the hardware and pickups are like new. It sounds like a Precision ought to! All original and weighs 4kgs. New Rotos 40-100s great balance. An excellent vintage bass at an affordable price. A recent purchase but I need to raise some cash fairly urgently, last in first out. It comes with a heavy, rather tatty but functional aluminium flight case. No trades, sorry. I’d prefer pickup in person as I only have the case to post it in, however if you want it posting in the U.K. I can look into it at your cost. If you want Fender flats on it rather than Rotos I can restring it. Thanks!

Fender Nate Mendel Precision Bass MIM Now SOLD elsewhere

They vary in weight like any Fender bass if you read the reviews and comments on talkbass etc. There are reports of them being as much as 11lbs and as little as 8. I’d say It’s about average for a Fender bass and I have a shoulder injury and don’t find it too heavy. The bridge probably accounts for the difference between this and my MIJ Precision however If you want a light weight Precision I’d look elsewhere. -

Fender MIM Nate Mendel These basses get excellent reviews and this is a lovely example. It is beautifully made and has the advantages of being equipped with a high mass bridge and a Seymour Duncan Quarterpounder. It’s also part of the ‘Roadworn’ series so you don’t have to worry too much about dings! The neck is exceptional on this and has a played in feel. It comes with original gig bag and goodies plus a swappable FF neckplate. It weighs 4.4kgs on the kitchen scales and is perfectly balanced. Currently strung with heavy gauge Fender strings it’s perfect for rock. I bought it on a whim because it looks and plays so well however I prefer the feel of maple boards these days so it has got to go. No trades. UK only. Pickup preferred but I can possibly post at buyer’s cost if I can find a box.

There was definitely something awry. I’d be interested to see if the sales that went through were actually finalised as the prices appeared to be above market value.

Interesting that all the items this seller had for sale have been removed this evening.

I’ve been watching this seller’s stuff with interest. Today there were several items which sold for high amounts and then were quickly relisted. A Lakland 6 and an Eastwood Hooky pro. I was watching both and they have reappeared with the explanation that the ‘buyer made a mistake’. The Wal was on but I wasn’t watching that one. A lot of high end and nicely kept gear. Poor feedback though.

Clarky bought my ‘62 MIJ Jazz reissue - easy deal and mega quick payment. Basschat at its best as always!

This old Jazz bass is a ‘Crafted in Japan’ Model and the Fender serial decoder dates it to 1993 however some sites date it as a 1997 model. What you have here however is an exceptionally playable Jazz bass with a lovely slim neck. It’s light too at around 9lbs and balances perfectly. One of the criticisms of MIJ basses is that the pickups are weak, this bass benefits from a pair of US Fender pickups and in comparison to my 83’ JV Jazz they do have more gain. As with all good basses this has been played and gigged a lot so has a lot of genuine road wear. There are dings and scuffs aplenty, touched up paint at the bottom of the instrument. There is also corrosion on the bridge, screws and top strap button (replaced straplock buttons) as well as tarnishing to the nickel plate tuners. Everything is solid and works as it ought to however. It really is a lovely bass - the neck has some dings to the headstock and a small chip behind the nut but no marks at the back or dings. It is a comfortable neck to play alas too slim at the nut for me hence the sale. It was filthy when I bought it a proper gig machine! No trades and UK only please. There is an old case included.
