1. Yes I made contact but haven't heard anything yet - it's the Antoria equivalent of the Ibanez Black Eagle bass as used by Jon Camp from time to time in Renaissance.
  2. Look at where the trussrod access is.....

The bass was made in 2009
  6. Geezer used John Birch basses that looked a little like a certain US brand..... Tony Iommi also used John Birch SG type guitars. Made just down the road in Staffordshire.

  9. I'm based in Lancaster so fairly accessible for those in the north.
  10. Hmmm interesting gotta link?
  11. I've seen this before I still reckon its a fretless conversion - lack of position markers on the board which is unusual for Shergold instruments. Nice though!
  12. As the title suggests this is a Stentor 1/2 size bass. I've used it for rockabilly and bluegrass. It has a pickup on it and comes with a quality soft case but no bow. The bass has a nice set up and plays great with a warm sound, not ultra loud but fine with acoustic guitar and banjo. The bass has a lot of cosmetic chips round the edges to the varnish but no cracks or breaks and no repairs. It is strung with Innovations and these are in very good condition too. Obviously this needs picking up. In terms of size I've pictured it against my front door frame to get an idea. With the spike inside it fits in a small car with the front seat down so easy to transport for the bassist on the move. £370 offers welcome sorry no trades.
  13.
I suspect that's a later one - looks like a Modulator to me - as it has no position dots on the fretboard. Either that or it's a custom fretted factory fretless - if you follow my drift! The current defretted one on eBay has been heavily modded, I contacted the seller out of interest, it will probably get some decent bids as he said he'd had lots of interest and offers. Points to consider - the logo is missing and possibly the serial plate ( he didn't answer my question about the serial plate so I'd assume its lost ). The scratchplate with the model name is missing and also the control plate. All these bits are pretty much impossible to source and will have to be custom made. The binding will need replacing probably especially if it's to be refretted. The electrics are in poor condition, if the pickup is knackered these are expensive to fix. It will be a very expensive project unless you are a luthier ( and have a few Shergold spares knocking about ) For the record I'd bid but nothing more than £250.
I actually bid 258 in the end as the postage was cheap and won!
  14.
And it's sold! A bit of an oddity, as it only has one string guide, and it's mounted further down the head than usual.
Yes and a brass nut too, but it has the 'ashtray'

  17.
I think i'll wait for a near mint one on ebay for £200.
18.
To complicate matters further, I stumbled upon this today, Shergold Marathon (or is it a Modulator? I'm sure it said 'Marathon' on the body), hard to see from the pics but it's the one with 2 humbuckers and 3 x 3 way switches, in really good condition - although the cracks on the neck pocket were also on this one on both sides. The cost was £670-ish, well over my budget, (and I suspect somewhat overpriced too), it felt and sounded super good though! Very different vibe to the single humbucker version.
