3. Still here for sale!
4. He won't post it I've already asked......
5. He rewound a Rickenbacker pickup for me and sorted out the wiring harness, good price, good guy to deal with, although it wasn't the quickest service it provided good results.
6. What's the weight of it please - can't see it mentioned sorry if I've missed it using the mobile version! Cheers
7. Is this the one that was on eBay? Looked good.
8.
Someone made an offer of £475 on this, which was declined! Better get your Shergold basses while you can! Now Vintage & Rare are offering one - at 951 Euros (£795)!! http://www.vintagean...80s-White-26752
I contacted him with an offer after it ended but he declined. He told me the offer for it which I still reckon is still too high given the condition of it. My Marathon 4 is near mint and came with the original case, a strap and an old curly lead. It was under £410. These are great basses but don't pay silly prices for them, the really rare ones are the Marathon 6 and 8 strings now they are worthy of silly prices!

10.
Here it is - just a couple of pics taken on my phone, still thinking about it, I haven't bought it yet...
It's a Mark 1 as it has the large rectangular scratchplate to cover the rout for the Hayman pickups as it's made from Hayman surplus parts. Very nice - if you decide against let me know - I'll have it!

You guessed correct - sorry
12. Buy it, my Marathon(s) are all superb and really are classics with true Burns lineage. My Marathon 4 is similar to the one in the pic and it's very light weight the action is superb. Earlier Marathons were made from Hayman parts and had truss rod access at the back of the body as you have said, these are a little more awkward to adjust but the necks are generally very stable owing to Jack Golder's very strict way of seasoning the woods used. It's also worth noting that NOS necks to come up for sale occasionally as there was some stock left over following the demise of the Shergold company. Post some pics if you get it!

14. £1800....??!!?....because she's worth it.....
15. Nice but expensive it's an earlier one too as the neck pocket generally has a raised area to stabilise the neck placement - can't see that on the pic.
16. It weighs 6lbs I asked!
17. Still here bump
18.
yeah, and I thought it was a great price, considering I paid nearly £500 for my tascam 424 (tape 4-track in 1994!) My unit had a slightly larger drive, 8Gb, which seemed like a whole universe back in those days.
The original versions had a Zip/Jaz drive I think, there was also a more elegant silver version in the latter days of production. They still have great audio quality for the money. I wouldn't mind the 16 track version if I could get it cheap enough of course.
19. It may be worth looking on the Shergold forum as there are a few experts there. This is similar to the one Mike Oldfield used for many years. They were originally a brand name for the custom maker Peter Cook. Endorsed by John Entwistle and later branded with the Shaftesbury name. These are a nice old UK made guitar nicknamed 'knobbly Neds' for obvious reasons - Entwistle referred to his as his 'jigsaw puzzle bass'! I like it and if you ever want rid give me first dibs! http://www.shergold.co.uk/forum/index.php Entwistle - http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/bass/bassendorsements.html
20.
Errr. Go on then, I'll have it. I'll PM you shortly.
That's great cheers!
I had one of these!!! I still remember: I paid £811 for it, back in 2001. Really cool unit!
Wow £811! How time and tech changes, they are still ultra reliable so I guess quality lasts!
21. None taken Clarky interestingly the neck heel had the signature of 'Rob Green' in marker pen written on it. The extra knobs didn't get in the way for me and gave a greater variety of tones than the usual vol/vol/tone. Incidentally the pickup cover is his mod.
22. This was mine at one point, it's a nice bass despite all the knobs! He bought it off me for a bit less than that but it's still a fair price.
