1. Howard has just sorted me out with a red tort precision scratchplate. All done with the minimum of fuss, and he even went so far as to say he'd take it back if it didn't fit/wasn't the right colour. A pleasure to deal with - thanks.
2. I have one of these, and I run an MB500 through it. Even at 350w at 8ohms it's staggeringly loud. I'd love another to get the full 500w but don't think anyone I play with would thank me!
3.
Do you have incredibly high action, or is it the picture?
Those are actually the photographs I took just after I got the instrument, before it'd been set up for me, and before Nick got it.

6. Bought a tort jazz scratchplate from Simon - he went so far as to double-check I was happy with the extra holes that he'd already put in his ad (I was) and sent it out really quickly. Thanks!
7. I have one of these, it's great. I used it with an active G&L and a passive jazz, and managed to get a pretty good balance.
8. I've just brokered a trade with Nick for my L2500 for his fretless P-bass & cash. He's been a pleasure to deal with throughout, and the guitar is lovely, exactly as described. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Nick again, and hope he enjoys the G&L!
9. Hi Merv, Thanks for the offer of a trade. I think the BB isn't the right Yamaha range I was thinking of, sorry. I think there was a cheaper version of the TRBs but I can't remember what they're called! I'm actually off next week - I'll be around SE over the weekend, and then back in Brum all week, if that works?
10.
Have a bump for a spectacular bass!
Thanks - the pics don't really do it justice, the finish is really 'deep' and the grain really 'pops' up close. It really is a wrench to sell, but I'd sort of prefer this going to someone and being played, rather than just sitting and gathering dust.
11. Sadly for sale due to not playing (bass) in a band anymore and needing some cash for an impending house move. A 1996 G&L L2500 USA Custom bass in Clear Orange over a flat swamp ash cap with cream body binding. The neck has a lovely figure to it, and is a nice shallow shape. It's in nigh-immaculate condition - I just gave it a once over and I can't see any dings, dents etc other than a couple of very small ones at the very tip of the headstock. I picked it up about a year ago, it's been lightly gigged since then - it was last played in anger in July 2012, and has sadly been sat in its case (barring the odd noodle) since then. I previously had a Tribute L2500 and L2000 and this has them beaten hands down in playabilty and looks (and they were great!) It's just been to Sam Deakin for a setup (I got it back today) and has brand new DR Fat Beam strings fitted. Sam replaced the barrel jack which had worn out, and also did a little work on the frets at the dusty end to smoothe them down a little. The new strings are quite trebly (literally brand new) and with the MFD pickups there's a lot of sound going on, but the beauty of the G&L pre-amp is you can easily find the tone you want. It comes with the G&L Certificate of authenticity, owner's manual and warranty card, in a G&L hardcase. I'm looking for £750 cash. I will consider trades valued at circa £350 or less in respect of the following, but I am selling 'cos I need cash, so any deal would have to be trade plus in the region of £400 cash my way. Fender Mex/Jap Jazz or P-Bass fretless (or modded fretted depending on mods) Squire CV/VM Jazz fretless (or modded fretted depending on mods) Fender Jap/US/ MightyMite/AllParts/Warmoth Jazz maple fingerboard neck only Fender/Squire VM Jazz V Decent parts Jazz Any G&L Tribute but particularly carved tops L2000/M2000, L2500/M2500 and JB (don't know if they do fretless?) Overwater Tanglewood jazz-type guitars Lakland Skyline Warwick/Rockbass Corvettes (in particular a fretless!) OLP/SUB Sterlings/Stingrays One of the old Yamaha 4 or 5 stringers that was a step up from the RBX but not quite the quilted maple top end stuff - am I thinking TRB or BB range - the one with the soapbars or jazz pickups, not the offset 80's ones? I might also consider a nice Telecaster, depending on finish. I'm not looking for a standard Affinity Squire Jazz etc thanks. I would strongly recommmend any potential buyer to come and try the bass beforehand to avoid any surprises. You're welcome to some tea and cake! I will post at your cost, and I will do my best to resolve any issues you may experience, but I won't deal with any "buyer's remorse" type issues!
12.
Unfortunately I have to leave bad feedback here . I traded a Gallien amp for a Jazz bass. When it arrived I took it out and looked at it and it seemed pretty much as described. Then something changed which meant that I needed something slightly different so I listed it for sale on here. The bass was described as having had a fret dress and being set up prior to me receiving it so I had no reason to doubt this at the time. When I went to check it to make sure everything was OK I discovered an annoying fret buzz located only on the 5th fret on the D string. I asked on here what it could be and was told what I thought all along - that it was a slightly raised section of fret. I asked Jake if he had noticed anything before and was told that everything was fine prior to sending it to me. I replied again, asking if he could be honest with me as I wanted to make sure that this had definitely had the fret dress that he claimed to have had done and had been set up before sending it to me. I was accused of 'manufacturing' a fault with the bass just because I had decided to sell it so soon after receiving it and that I was looking for some kind of refund when in reality all I wanted was to isolate the problem so that I could fix it. I was accused of being fussy about set up but in reality I set up every bass that I buy but this is the first time I have had to level the frets after being told that they had already been done The bass did look as described but the frets had not been dressed or levelled at all and the whole bass looked as if it had just been assembled that morning and then posted to me as the bridge saddles had clearly not been adjusted for intonation and the strings were so close to the fretboard to make the bass unplayable when I received it and I was the one accused of being 'fussy' Jake does have good feedback on here but I would suggest that if you ever buy a bass from him, make sure you try it first. Its not nice being accused of creating imaginary faults and being fussy when there was clearly something wrong with the bass.
I've only just seen this, because as a consequence of this deeply frustrating transaction I felt very much disillusioned with this site and haven't posted much since then. That post provides a very one-sided version of events indeed. The bass for sale was this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/184643-traded-fender-geddy-jazz-whipshot-l325ono/page__p__1784415#entry1784415 In fact, the 'mirror image' bass went up for sale shortly afterwards: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/159316-soldfender-jazz-with-geddy-lee-neck-really-cool-basssold/page__hl__geddy I'd bought my bass from Bassybill some time ago. Delberthot received the bass and told me everything was fine. I then got a message saying something was wrong with the fretboard. It wasn't something I'd ever experienced, but very quickly the tone of his messages degenerated and I found myself having been accused of selling a 'parts bass' I'd just cobbled together without any reference to how it was set up. Delberthot accused me of selling it without even playing it, and told me it was 'unplayable'. Since it had been my main bass for over three years and played regularly, I couldn't see how that could be the case. I was very open that it had been put together from a Geddy body and a Mex neck when I bought it, but rather than try and engage in some constructive dialogue I was accused of attempting to defraud the guy. It culminated in him blocking messages from me so I wasn't ever able to resolve whatever issues he may have had. It was a deeply unedifying experience and left a very bad taste in my mouth. I find it frustrating that rather than try and resolve the matter, he's chosen to bad-mouth me here, but hey, that's the internet -you can say what you like from behind a keyboard. I shall be more cautious about who I deal with in the future. At least Delberthot is right in one respect - in future I think I'll only sell things to people that have the opportunity to try them in the flesh.
13. Just bought a pickguard from Etienne, very well packed and sent super quick - cheers.
14. Bought book and DVD, went without a hitch! Cheers.
15. Thanks Paul, a great transaction.

SOLD

Hi, where in the country are you?
17. Hi Paul; No, it doesn't have the PSU. I think it doesn't ship with it, it's an optional extra. Unfortunately I have a bass chorus and opto stomp compressor, so tho your pedals look great, they not really what I'm after, thanks. J
18.
So it's got a Geddy Lee body, pickups and electronics but mexican neck?
Yep.
