1. I have the same guitar in the same finish - it's fantastically versatile, and a steal at £350.
 2. If you like the sound, but sometimes find yourself craving 'more', I can highly recommend a J-retro preamp. It just enhances all the best bits of a Jazz but gives you more tonal options if you want them.
 3. ***Before anyone gets snarky, I have done a forum search and found all the recommendations that I join the MU!*** Anyway, we're playing a free gig next month where we've been asked for evidence of PL cover. All the options I have found - MU, LiabilityGuard, Allianz Musical etc are all geared towards individual cover - that is, cover for each band member separately. LiabilityGuard offers £1m for £99 per person - so that's £400 for the band on a gig we're not getting paid for. I should probably also say that we don't play often enough to derive significant benefits from being members of the MU. Now, I know that each member of the band joins the MU, we would each get PL cover, but has anyone managed to get a group standalone PL policy for a reasonable price, and if so, from whom?
 4. Gah! Where were you when I was trying to get my hands on an MB210!? That looks like a good deal for a 500w lightweight setup, good luck with the sale!
 5. Hi all; Just been round to a friend of mine's, and he's picked up a Trace Commando 12 for dirt cheap. It's a beat, but for the fact that the speaker cone has come loose from the mounting at one point. He's going to have a bash at gluing as a temp fix, but does anyone know what replacement driver might work? Cheers!
 6. I've recently had a J-Retro fitted, and it's a very hot output indeed, even compared to a G&L L2000 which is well-known for umph! As mentioned above, once you've made sure the battery's fresh, I'd fiddle with the gain adjuster (small micro-screw on the PCB) and back it right off, and then see how that does you.
 7.
I've got to nail a set list for a depp in a week or so and was struggling a bit with a couple of numbers, so in an attempt to save myself some time I downloaded the tabs. What a miserable experience, not very accurate and I just found myself losing the will and getting very bored with it. Gone back to relying on ears and some improvising. I know TAB is a useful resource but I really can't get on with it. Right off to learn Shine by Take That and Read my Mind/Killers.
I have the dots for Shine if you want them?
 8. Aha - I suspect this may be more helpful than my last contribution: http://www.hotshotsmusic.com/Me%20&%20...nes%20score.pdf http://www.hotshotsmusic.com/Me%20&%20...ones%20midi.mid I have loads of this guy's charts, they're great.
 9. Thought I had it - but I've got 'Have You Met Miss Jones' - sorry!
 10.
NOT close. You might as well say a P is close to a J. The OP in that link has it arse about face with the mids ... so I stopped reading any further.
Well, close enough that punters aren't going to be able to tell the difference once it's been through your amp, cab, and bounced around the venue a few times. It's a good 'jack of all trades' instrument, which is why I have mine. I can approximate other sounds without having to drop the wedge on lots of other instruments.

 12. Close, by all accounts: http://www.bassesbyleo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=717 I have an L2000T and it does offer a very broad sonic palette!
 13.
This guy is having a but you get the point http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Badass-Bass-II-BRIDG...f4#ht_720wt_983
Heh, well the listing says 'still attached to bass', so it could end up being a bargain!
 14.
The L-2000 doesn't do Stingray... not even close in fact. Even the Sandberg PM or JMs can't nail it as the MM pup is a good bit away from the sweet spot. This is a bit more like it. <snip> P neck and MM pickup placement accurate to the mm.
Couldn't you have the s/c mod carried out on the L2000 and run inner/inner coils on the two humbuckers, which might get it closer to the MM location?
 15.
Would BundleBox work? I just used their shipping calculator to work out the cost of the bag at $70, using the stated weight of 3lb and approx dimensions of a GK MB500, 8x8x2in. Total cost of purchase, shipping, import etc comes in at just under £100. (tbh it works better when you've got multiple items to ship and they can re-pack to make the combined size less that it otherwise would be when sent separately). Sign up here using my referral link
Hmm, not sure for just that but worth considering, thanks!
 16.
I've had a few friends work at RMCaudio, small world. Generally the best price for GK by a good deal. Looks like I can get it shipped to me for under $58, it didn't add tax and that can be almost 10%. I just checked USPS and got about $50 for shipping which is a lot. Figure about 3 or 4 pounds weight, can you find much cheaper? Also have you looked into some notebook computer bags? I have a few and the extra pockets for cables and stuff make me like them better than some "proper" amp bags.
Blimey, that's a lot. I'll have a looksie. I'm currently using a laptop bag - but because the head's so small, it just rattles around in there!
 17.
I've done this before and I insist on doing it at no risk to me whatsoever but I just got jumped on by some trolls for trying to get gear out of the US. Do you have a link for what you want to buy?
Thanks for your reply. It's this: http://tinyurl.com/6379p5n Cheapest I've seen it is here: http://www.rmcaudiodirect.com/Gallien-Krue...-headgigbag.htm I absolutely agree it should be at no risk to you - I would send all funds via Paypal first, hopefully sufficient to cover the international shipping as well, and then you ship at your convenience.
 18.
What kinda amp is it. PS I'm not stateside - just curious. Dave
GK MB500.
 19. Are there any Stateside forum members who might be able to do me a small favour? I want a gig bag for my amp, but there's none in the UK, and no estimate as to when there might be. If I sent you the funds, could you purchase one and post it out to me please? Cheers Jake
 20.
Used to have one of these til I got gas for a Wal...Wal never came. This little baby should have been a keeper. Lovely tone with pro steels I couldn't choose between it and the American one I had on loan. Have a bump while I try to sell something....
Ta very much, like. I'm in the enviable position of having an identical 4er, and so for the last few days I've been wracked by trying to decide which one to keep. I've plumped for the 4er for now as the music I play doesn't call for a 5er, but I think another might be on the cards in a couple of years!
 21.
interested in any 4 string trades?
I wasn't specifically looking for any trades, but what did you have in mind?
