  1. It's caused by current rushing in and charging up the capacitors in the pre-amp as it powers up. Exactly the same reason why Neutrik Silent jacks are not recommended for active instruments.
  2. Unless they've changed the design it should fit. I had exactly the same problem some years ago and EB sent me a bag of them. I just need to find them.
  3. I have several spare ones. If you PM me name and address I'll pop one in the post.
  4. From what I remember the pcbs for the SR5 and the Sterling are different sizes with different pot spacings. I once bought a Sterling pre-amp with the intention of putting into an SR5 and it would not fit. The SR5 pre-amp is very different to the SR4.
  5. In the 16 years that I've been a member of Bassworld, Basstalk and Basschat buying and selling kit or selling cables I've never had a problem. I even had a BCer send me a Sadowsky Metro from Poland without payment until I had checked it out. However I recently advertised for something I wanted and received a PM from a just registered new member who wanted my email address so they could send details and pictures. I declined and suggested they put them in the PM. I've heard nothing since so it pays to be wary.
  6. The bass is a signal generator and so it's an output jack.
  7. Totally agree with you Mark. Annoys the hell out of Mrs obbm and myself. When you're hard of hearing it's bad enough trying to understand the dialogue without all that going on in the background. Thank god for subtitles. Don't get me stated on the sound balance on certain Light Entertainment shows where the vocals are so buried in the mix that you can't decipher the words. When will sound engineers understand that lyrics were written to be heard. [/rant]
  8. Very easy transaction with Paul today. Very punctual at the allotted meeting point, a quick chat and the deal was done. Thank you Paul

  11. She's performing along with Roger Taylor, Paul Young and Madeline Bell as part of the SAS Band (Spikes All Stars) who are the Sunday headline act at our local Festival, Weyfest, in August. Apparently they are doing a 2 hour set. Should be good.
  12. Just taken delivery of a Quilter Bass Block from Paul. Totally effortless transaction. It arrived well packed and in pristine condition. Top man. I just need Mrs OBBM to go to the Gym so I can try it out with my new BF Two10.

  15. Thanks. I've hooked him up to this thread.
  16. A guitarist friend is in Manchester for work this week and wants to know if there are any Jam nights that he go to and whiddle away his evenings?
  17. I have never played guitar. My fingers just aren't long enough. Only occasionally found it to be a problem, usually when a guitarist tries to show me chords at a jam. I always reply, just tell me the chords. Interesting thing is that sometimes they don't know what they are called.
  18. It's a 500. There have been lots of horror stories about these but this one seems to work fine although I've only done 2 rehearsals and one gig with it. Time will tell. Much prefer it to the LM2.
  19. Last night's little experiment. My 2 x BF One10s have been joined by a Two10.
