A very simple exchange of items involving nothing but the navigation of the UK postal system was carried out flawlessly. Thank you Martin Dave

That was a 1980 pre-EB. The finish was known as Root Beer. I bought it from the USA. The story behind it was that in 1980 MM were trying to get better exposure so they produced a number of basses for named artists. This one was allegedly made for Tom Hamilton, hence the gold hardware, although I was never able to prove it. It went to a new home in Denmark a few years ago. The scratch plate was fitted by a later owner although it still had its original black one. It was quite heavy.

This picture from my archive must from 2004 when I had a thing for Musicman basses. The last of these, the Pacific Blue Burst SR5, finally left two weeks ago. Its place has now been taken by a natural Sterling, the third I've owned over the years - I'll never understand why I ever sold the others.

Last night I concluded a deal with Spencer involving speaker cabs. He drove to me as agreed to deliver and collect. As others have said, " a gentleman" and "deal with absolute confidence".
-
Totally agree. Fortunately my Sadowsky Metro has such a device.

I've decided that I prefer the sound of my 2 x One10s so the almost new Barefaced Two10 Cab has to go. Metal Grille Switchable 4-ohm/12-ohm Barefaced Cover Original box and paperwork. Bought earlier this year but never taken from the house or gigged - not even run in yet. Collection from GU10 or meet-up within 50 miles. Consider trades for Bergantino CN112 or NV115, Vanderkley EXT112

It's caused by current rushing in and charging up the capacitors in the pre-amp as it powers up. Exactly the same reason why Neutrik Silent jacks are not recommended for active instruments.
-
Unless they've changed the design it should fit. I had exactly the same problem some years ago and EB sent me a bag of them. I just need to find them.
-
I have several spare ones. If you PM me name and address I'll pop one in the post.

From what I remember the pcbs for the SR5 and the Sterling are different sizes with different pot spacings. I once bought a Sterling pre-amp with the intention of putting into an SR5 and it would not fit. The SR5 pre-amp is very different to the SR4.

Basschat feedback / buying & selling / the people on this forum
obbm replied to dodge_bass's topic in General Discussion
In the 16 years that I've been a member of Bassworld, Basstalk and Basschat buying and selling kit or selling cables I've never had a problem. I even had a BCer send me a Sadowsky Metro from Poland without payment until I had checked it out. However I recently advertised for something I wanted and received a PM from a just registered new member who wanted my email address so they could send details and pictures. I declined and suggested they put them in the PM. I've heard nothing since so it pays to be wary. -
Precision Bass Pickguard with four control/input holes?
obbm replied to jeid's topic in Accessories and Misc
The bass is a signal generator and so it's an output jack. -
Totally agree with you Mark. Annoys the hell out of Mrs obbm and myself. When you're hard of hearing it's bad enough trying to understand the dialogue without all that going on in the background. Thank god for subtitles. Don't get me stated on the sound balance on certain Light Entertainment shows where the vocals are so buried in the mix that you can't decipher the words. When will sound engineers understand that lyrics were written to be heard. [/rant]

Very easy transaction with Paul today. Very punctual at the allotted meeting point, a quick chat and the deal was done. Thank you Paul
