Thats true, but there is the fact that the rod is a long thin piece of metal and it can be depresssingly easy to deform something like that.
Well I guess you know more about it than me.
.... My guess it that it was bowed for so long the rod took that shape.
It's very doubtful. A tr is a dynamic device with a threaded section which in the case of a dual action tr, physically alters it's shape by shortening and lengthening in conjunction with a fixed bar. A single action tr will straighten out the tighter it gets - shortest distance between two points and all that.

Cheap flats for a beater bass: Fender or Picato
Ou7shined replied to iconic's topic in Accessories and Misc
Why does no one ever consider Status Hotwires? These extremely underrated flats are every bit as good as the usual expensive suspects and half the price (£14 for medium scale / £17 for long scale). I have a set on my Shuker '51 and they sing - I have TI's on other basses (which are ok like) but they sound flabby in comparison. -
...Bits of plastic egdeing from and old computer desk as they were easy to trim to shape.
The neck straightens out when not under tension though yes? I suspect your bits of plastic (and probably air pockets and gaps) compress under tension thus leading your bow. I'm still lost as to how tighten up the tr makes it worse though... unless it introduces a squiggle instead of countering the bow.

Ah right, I've just seen that you've defretted it. What did you fill the slots with after you defretted it?
-
I'm guessing you have tried tightening the tr back up yes?

I got one that I dropped in the road smashing the glass, then it got run over by a truck.... must be worth a fortune. It's hard to quantify but it feels better than a new one ever could.

Heat the screw with a soldering iron to expand it and loosen it off in the wood the remove with a pliers. If there's not enough to grip with pliers, saw a slot for a flathead screwdriver. If that fails buy an extractor. This type of thing. Nice one.

Sounds like LEDs as optics are driven from a single led inside the control cavity. Get a multimeter on the battery connectors and test for continuity.

Fugy. Probably wouldn't have been too bad before the curious sander job.
There are a few marks in the lacquer here and there where the body has rested against a textured surface and it has left a feint impression however you cant see any of that when you are a foot or more away; Robin tells me it may T cut out or 1000000 grit sand
The "uber talented Robin" knows his stuff eh. -
As soon as you hang that on a strap.... crack.

Encore masquerading as a Squire
Ou7shined replied to silentbob's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I'm sure that the old decal mark would be more obvious if you had it in your hands. It seems he's using that Squier lie in order to get "Fender" into the title. Report it. -

In my experience brass nuts will directly contribute to tone.... but that's a whole other thread(s).
With some rigs and on some stages a Gramma pad works and on some it doesn't. A Fat Finger and a high mass bridge can benefit a bass that needs it and some basses will sound or feel different with 35"scale or through body stringing. Some players won't notice and will think it does nothing, but for the guys for whom it works and who can spot the difference it's cool. I use through body stringing cos I can. It won't make you sound worse and it might sound, or more likely feel, better, so why not?
As part of a 70's restoration, last night I made a bone nut to replace the disgusting original plastic one. Difference in tone?.... next to nowt.

I dunno man. Email the companies? How do you think a new nut will help though? If it's not seized, stripped or broken then it's doing all it can. Try the washer trick.
-
Bang a washer underneath your current one and see if it'll give you a bit more leeway. Btw surely if you can take your tr nut out can't you just measure it yourself... or take it to someone who can?

Back Routing... Am I Entering A World Of Pain?
Ou7shined replied to discreet's topic in Repairs and Technical
If you have any concerns about depth, you can also not go as deep as you think throughout the entire cavity but do a general cavity rout then remove the required material precisely where your pots will be. This provides a snug socket for you pots to sit in and not be susceptible to sideways knocks from the front. Doing it yourself means you have no one else to blame for it going wrong - I once paid to have a rear rout done and it was ok but not quite as tip-top had I done it myself. Now I have all the kit, it's not a problem. -
If it is only this site which you have problems with, it may be because you have information from this site stored on your PC which is either incorrect or corrupted? Apologies if this is egg-sucking time, but things that I have done to my PC include: Log off Basschat - clear all cookies, and clear all your various caches (both browser and Windows 7) - http://www.addictive...indows-7-cache/ - Re-start your PC and log back into Basschat Also - make sure your whole system is running the latest versions of everything - http://www.belarc.co...e_download.html http://java.com/en/d...d/installed.jsp http://kb2.adobe.com...5/tn_15507.html Make sure you don't have a browser hijacker/malware etc - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ Hope something here may help?
Thanks for taking the time to reply but I'm a computer (ex)speed-freak nerd ... with ocd. I got into the habit of running minimal systems at max efficiency many years ago... I flush my unwanted cookies a few times a day, my programs and drivers are all up to date (automatically checked daily) the system is zipped up tighter than a gnat's and I have no malware, bloatware or crapware.... I remove all Add-ons and "Accelerators", I run only necessary extensions and I feckin hate toolbars. Here's how the top of the page looks to me (full-screen) in IE8.... No, I haven't noticed any problems with other sites..... well actually Photobucket is right pain in the derriere... but then it always has been. It's a mystery. Roll on the updates.
I found IE8 on an old PC cover disc and installed it earlier this evening. For the last 2 hours I've gone through every page of this thread (and other threads) trying to re-create reported problems with my brand new install of IE8. I just can't 'cause' the faults you (and others) are reporting - everything works how I expect it to work. Sorry - I really wish I could help!
Weird. I have 2 PC's running win7 64bit + IE8 (one is a laptop the other a overly spec'd tower) and they both display the same issues regarding graphic anomalies and both find the site tediously slow to load and interact with while all other sites remain normal. I posted a thread (with my laptop) on here the other day featuring a very small bass being played on youtube. I started by simply posting the url (which has worked for me in the past) but it failed. I then spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out all the different permutations of video posting without success and gave up and just posted the url again... all the forum did was display the url. here -> http://basschat.co.u...48#entry1411648 On my Android phone using Opera (because the native browser will not allow any interaction other than viewing the site) I experience loss of posts or PM's when I click the post/send button and the browser defaults to the index page.

Looks like a sh*t way to avoid the reserve price fee.
