1. I'm a rubbish businessman, for some reason I'd rather see a smile on the buyers face than a profit in my pocket. I'm a great believer in karma ye see. The last bass I sold on here I sold for roughly the same as what I'd paid for it... only while it had been with me I'd fixed a couple of inherent issues, completely shielded it out, fitted a Badass, put on some very expensive strings and set it up to perfection. I agree with Bubinga's sentiments but I feel those days are dwindling. With the increased membership we have now it's more of a lottery. I'm continually buying in wee bits and bobs and each time before clicking the pay button I stress and check that the condition of the item I'm about to buy is good, nearly all the time (unless it has come from any of the usual suspects on here ) there turns out to be some small undisclosed problem or obvious blemish or outright lie. I recently bought some used strings which were advertised as having the silks in untouched condtion... guess what? .... I mean why even mention it when it's obviously not true. I've been stung twice by a guy on here whose idea of "excellent condition" would be closer to my "has seen better days" category. But what I'm very guilty of is not leaving bad feedback. I love it when a deal goes great and always leave rave reviews but when I'm dissatisfied I tend to just not speak to that person again. I think in light of what Beedster mentioned above that for the community's sake I need to bite the bullet and speak up.
 2.
Nah, it's quite boring tho!!
I'm weird, I quite like it. I sometimes even take pictures after I'm finished.
 3. Yeah 55 seems ok considering the cruddy nick it's in.
 4.
... These are true love-it-or-hate-it designs,...
I'm in the "love it" camp. TIM
 5. I've just got in. Wow what a day! I'm glad you got it sold and that you've found a market that will pay that much for it. As someone who has his soldering iron out every other day I sometimes forget how hard people find wiring up 2 pots and a jack. I'll not bother with the links now as it's moot but anyone who can google.uk Precision bass wiring kit will be able to figure it out for themselves. Tschüss.
 6. This would be one for Neepheid.
 7. Sorry for posting and running there. I'm driving through blizzards at the moment and need to concentrate on more important things. I won't talk directly about prices in a FS thread but I will PM you links for exactly the same spec looms (some include waxed/cloth wiring) as a comparison to yours when I get stopped for long enough again. P.S. I didn't know at the start of this thread that you were selling on retail parts because this is normally a forum for used items only. Peace out.

 9.
Shuker 3 - 1 Fender What would play better?
That depends on you mate but for sheer build quality and friendly after sales there's only one choice.

 11.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Gibson-1971-...Z300495375006QQ I'm not sure I can see where there's £82 worth of spares on this piece of junk
You'd get a few bob for the original hardware like.
 12. You might not get all that much hum considering you are using a humbucker. Just a stereo jack socket is all you need.
 13. What do you mean by "set up"? To me it means setting the action and intonation, checking that all the electrics and movable components work as they should. It's more about maintenance than anything to do with finding a sound. When you mention different pickups and bridges etc you are into the realms of modding. Is that what he wants you to do with his bass?
 14.
Ministar Bass Who wouldn't want to be a 'bottom specialist'?
Which end do you put in?
 15. There's not much you can do other than put a new pre in.
 16.
My 51 P Bass has arrived and exceeded my expectations. Jon was pleased with it and its now in his gallery @ http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/pbassgal.htm Its off white woth black guard on 3rd row down..........sounds as great as it looks He really produces top draw instruments......now do I need another Jazz?
Hey nice one. That means mine has a wee brother on basschat. Mine is the one at the bottom of the gallery (#001).
 17. Is the P pup in the J/P part of the original design? (a look under the pickguard will tell) I've never seen a pup's pole pieces be so out of alignment to the strings like that before. .... even on a Fender.
 18. Hey Sam. Welcome to the forum. You got a pic of the serial number there?
 19.
Very cool. I'd love to see a circuit diagram.
Me too. It's all just in my head right now. Although there will be yards of wire I don't think it will all that complicated. The humbucker leg on it's own will be identical to the G&L L-1000 circuit - including the OMG (bass boost/filtered semi parallel) setting which is a bit of pickup wizardry that has become a bit of a lost secret that Leo came up with early on in the beginning of G&L but which after the buy-out BBE has strangely not been implemented in any other production bass. More fool them. The split P wiring is simple enough. I'm not too comfortable at having a straight "both" setting on the pup selector so I'll suck it and see but I might bung a resistor on it to give a more tuned tone ie. full on bridge with 80% neck or whatever.
 20.
Rough translation - up all night the night before the bash
You know me far too well Matt.
 21.
Very nice dude, when do you reckon you'll have this done by? Eude
I'm hoping to have it completed and all the wrinkles ironed out for Moffat. Sounds like a reasonable timescale but I have paying customers ahead of me in the queue. I've just spent the last couple of weeks building a (surf green ) workshop in my garden so I can step up operations.... and keep my crap out of the house.
 22.
Nice one MATE!!! I haven't gassed for another bass for quite a while, until I stumbled upon this thread.
My apologies. Mods please remove.
 23. If he confirms for Moffat, can you ask him to take it up so us haggis hunters can get a butchers at it too please?
 24.
... I love Rays but the problem for me is that I really dislike the non finished necks, I LOVE gloss necks, which is why I refinished the neck on my old Ray (which I believe Ou7shined now owns).....
lol I do indeed. She's a fantastic beast. And I returned the neck back to the way god (or Leo) intended. Swings and roundabouts eh?
