1. Can you push the pups down far enough (maybe even jam them down with some card under the p/g) to get a set of plyers onto the screws?
2.
If you've got a Clifton Downright 5-string for sale and you're starting the auction at £1200, is it wise to include a link to the Clifton Downright page where a potential buyer can find out that the same bass can be had brand new for £1300?
Extra points for futility for lifting the exact description from the very link he's posted to get more details from too.
3.
...For some reason, it's saying that the attachment space is used up for photos...but I haven't uploaded any yet...so I'll figure that out...
Host your pics at photobucket or whatevr... it's better for the forum servers.
4. See rule #5 for sellers here
5. What number is the tip that says "Stay away from Basschat or you'll find yourself developing GAS for things you previously never knew existed"?
6. If you find your last thread and type "bump" in a new post in it, you will send it to the top of the page where it will be seen by all again. This preferable to starting a new identical thread each time.
7.
/\ whs
See what I mean.
8. Watch out some smart arse will be along to tell you that offers are against forum rules and that you must put up a price ... ... then someone will mention that pics will help your sale.
9. Could be heaps of reasons... even legit ones. Buyer backed out etc.
10. Frets were leveled and stoned. In for a penny eh.
11.
....However the painter I spoke to thought that if I was restoring them then I ought to consider trying to get them back to their original finish. I don't have anything against Oly White but not sure I'd want to go for two old basses in the same colour. So - what does everyone think?
If you are going with original hardware and 'tronics I'd tend to agree with your painter, otherwise it's open season at refin city.
12. Wow that description wins my biggest load of horse shyte this year award. I kind of like the concept behind the build though.
13. Spotted last month. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=screen+cap Can't believe they haven't changed it yet. Maybe they've had a few extra hits because of it.
14. I'm still calling dibs on that eq if you are splitting Jose.
15. Pics or it didn't happen.
16.
A lot of bassists come from the standpoint of low end holding and unfortunately so do a lot of sound engineers it's only inevitable that basses and bassists will sound similar. ...
Well said.
17. I think Tokai prices are away to go through the roof. Not many people have played one but everyone says they are fantastic... without even having played one. Y' get me. Wants 2 G's for it (allegedly) and he can't even list the colour correctly. CAD Anyway..
18.
This is a very good point. The pickup on a Stingray would actually overlap with the pickup on a Precision. Sandberg's MM / P bassses actually have the MM pickup quite a bit closer to the bridge than on a Stingray - which is why they soundy more Jazz than MM.
I knew this thread would get around to this eventually. Enter the Pingray. Authentic pup positioning - bar the D/G part of the P pup for obvious reasons... As above the Sandbergs are a bit of a rip as they don't place the MM pup in the right spot.. which I would have thought should have been the whole point of the exercise.
19.
I won't be finishing the sanding...that's why I'm selling, so I can concentrate on my P-bass project
Will you be giving it a light relic'ing it too?
20.
That's me in the corner !
That's me in the spotlight.
21. Bought some knobs of Paul. He made sure that they arrived in A1 condish by virtue of his excellent packaging skills. Top banana. Rich.
22.
MB1. You have a bass playing hamster? this one wont even play in its wheel!
Yeah, but he's more comfortable on the guitar... small hands you see.
23.
attach a metal bar and use it as a whammy!
Thinking outside the box.
24. Yep that certainly looks to me like the strings have persuaded it away from true. If it were mine I'd whip it off and bend it back and see if it goes again. If it does, get a new one as you will obviously be losing a bit of acoustic transference... if, like me, you believe in such things.
25.
hey guys i give it some sand and sealer but the burn marks are still showing and i was hoping to spraying sunburst for that vintage fender look but would i have to spray blonde tint nitro to hide some of the dark burn marks then spray some amber and some on Sidv
It would probably be better to sand them out more.
