2. C'mon H where are these pics? The guys are in need of a Lemmy fix.
 3. Cool but I'd rather have Lemmy's head.
 4.
No idea what it sounds like as it needs some weird plugin I've never heard of & don't trust to view the video. What about that fugly headstock though? - it looks like a club foot
It's just windows media player.
 5.
I'm pretty certain that there's at least one BassChatter who's got one. Hopefully they'll be along in a bit to tell you more.
Yeah someone used to have a Spunky avatar... so to speak.
 6.
The Diago uses a charge pump circuit to generate 18v. Not sure what you mean by it getting the 18v at the expense of others on the chain? Sounds like the Godlyke does actually use a step up transformer instead, especially since they market the fact that the output is isolated. Where did you get it?
Yeah I was speaking about those adaptors that join two tips together and call it 18v... not the Diago. You may well manage to get 18v by using one of those with some psu's and one effect pedal but if you try adding another effect into the chain it can't keep up with the demanded draw and everything gets underpowered. I had to get my Godlyke sent over from the States. I have to amend my comment earlier about it getting warm - I used it in anger the other day at a 3hr rehearsal and it never went above ambient.
 7.
If it had a line-in and headphone out I doubt I would be bothering to be honest. I do have a slight bit of Eden GAS but its mostly so I have a silent practice option.
Get a Korg PX4D (I don't know what I'd do without mine) and keep your LM for gigs. This kind of logic doesn't help with the GAS though.
 8. Yep, couple of layers of tissue paper applied separately, only with neat PVA glue. If you are luck you can do the repair from the rear side and no one will ever know.
 9. Nice one. Pics? Your favoured setting is a nice one - I think if I had a L-2000 I'd be using something similar too. My L-1000 is neck pup only and I love the series setting on it... although my passive eq is completely different affair to yours. Speaking of which, be warned when talking about your "pre amp", your "active" setting is not a traditional active circuit with bass boost etc. basically it's a line boost to your passive signal.
 10. Would be wkd in a looper.
 11.
....Trade wise, I am ideally after an Eden again but also interested in a TC RH450, Genz Benz, EA and to be honest anything else that may fit the criteria....
Looks to me like you already have the best of the bunch.
 12. Jim is the man! He sent me a slightly used set of strings to experiment with for free, gratis and for nothing. This is what BC community spirit is all about. Many thanks mate. Rich.
 13.
It's a weird thing (and bear in mind the 12 has a pair of octave along with each fundamental string, so the playing surface is maybe double that of a regular four string), but after I play it for any length of time my fingertips just seem over-dry and skin-dusty (ugh!). Does this make sense? I guess the octave strings are kind of contributory to this. It's not so much of a problem, the strings aren't uncomfortable, just a little rough/coarse! ....
Cool. I think I get what you're saying - although I've never experienced it myself. What I get with steels is a spikey feeling "underfoot" and if I'm going swiftly from one end of the neck to the other I often come up a tad short as my fingers with steels seem to act like "discs and pads" compared to my nickel's "drums and shoes". So in summary, if you're a nickel fan the Powerwounds probably won't feel any different?
 14.
I looked into one of those for my Blowtorch but I think I had a narrow escape. While they can, depending on your psu (I'm using the Johnny shredfreak / Diago) deliver 18v from a 9v source, it's very much at the expense of the other outs on your daisy chain. So I bought one of these. Guaranteed 12, 18, or 24v. Should arrive any day now. Until then it's batteries only for my Blowtorch.
Woo-hoo. It's here. I can confirm that the Godlyke Iso-Pump does indeed do what it says on the tin. This really is a step-up transformer and not a couple of 9v outlets joined together to give the illusion of 18v. It gets a little warm but not worryingly so.
 15.
P PARDON I'M A BIT DEAF.
I sooooo want this but I don't know what I can do with a 100w amp. I suppose even just owning it and sitting looking at it would be immensely satisfying.
 16.
They do made SS strings but for the same reason as you I always go for nickels.
Yep cheers Alan.
Ou7shined They're actually Powerwound nickels. I got them through Alan/Skelf a while back...I had a couple of sets of D'Addarios to work through before I put the SITs on. P
Interesting. Would you say they feel as sticky/gritty as steels or are your fingertips (as mine probably are) just particularly sensitive to the difference.
 17. Too many Motörhead gigs mate? Hence the shouting.
 18.
I tried a load of different manufacturers on my Waterstone 12 string until eventually settling on SITs. Tension is great on this instrument, they sound very bright and last forever. The only downside is that I find them a tad coarse under the fingers, but as the Waterstone isn't my main bass it's not so much of a problem. P
Are they steels? I don't really get on with SS strings for that very reason and normally go with nickels.
 19. They're 20 quid. What do you think they are like? On the other hand, they're 20 quid so probably worth the punt.
 20.
I use a Johnnyshredfreak power supply and daisy chain, with a Diago 18v voltage doubler on one of the tips.
I looked into one of those for my Blowtorch but I think I had a narrow escape. 21. Yep. Check out the Schaller 3D for a good example. It depends on how you look at it but you should set the string spacing as per your pups (so you get even coverage with no volume drop over your strings) then adjust your technique to match the spacing... rather than the other way around.
 22.
.... I play mainly Jazz basses and whilst the neck on the Precision isn't an issue the extra distance between the strings is....
Really? String space at the bridge is exactly the same be it P or be it J. From your pic the spacing seems pretty standard, although you could do with shifting the E/A pup in a bit. Schaller do the best fender replacement bridges IMHO. For pure functionality I'm a 2000 fan but it doesn't look traditional which can put some off if you are putting it on a fender type bass.
 23.
Been watching this from the start. Look, no hands! Object achieved - looks great. There's a very good chance your neck will be OK. The longer you leave it, the better and onece you have tipped it over the edge, as I'm sure you realise, the string tension will hold it there. Perhaps just nip up the rod nut, at that point and not tighten. Keeping my fiingers crossed. Now I've seen it, I really fancy one! Now, where's that saw gone. . . . . . . . Cheers.
The thing is it's a very pronounced snap back at the 3rd or 4th fret, not a smooth bow somewhere down the middle where the truss-rod can take care of it. The donor bass had been kept in very bad conditions prior to Matt (and me - I got the other end of it) buying it. My fingers are tightly crossed too.
 24. To be fair the strum mode is not essential for 4 stringed instruments but for guitarist it's perfect in a live situation *click - strum* and bobs your auntie.. of course it works for bass too but we are dealing with 4 pegs spread wide across the head so it's no biggy. It starts to become invaluable with 5 strings and up. What I personally find the most useful with the Polytune is it's speed and consistency. I have owned all the usual suspects and none of them compete with the Polytune under this criteria.
 25.
I'd quess an electric over would be better than gas, because gas ones are moist from the gas burning (which is why they cook stuff differently). I always figured putting them in the control cavity is a good plan, but I never remember when I have a bass open.
And your bass could double as maracas in the quiet bits.
