  1. I guess it's situation dependent. Can you communicate with whoever is supplying the equipment to see if you can bring your monitoring setup? It might not require that you bring your own desk but I have seen this done before as a last resort. Most rigs at festivals now are digital (I would think) and you may just need to bring transmitters etc. I run it loose under my shirt to the beltpack. You can also get clips which attach to your collar which helps secure the slack. This is interesting - a talkback mic would be a good idea but ambient might also work. I pop one earphone out temporarily, even though this isn't really ideal for quick transitions between tunes.
  2. I love my Stomp and couldn't live without it! Cleans up my tone massively before hitting my amp or IEMs. If you are using it between comp and Sansamp - what is it you need it for? As an effects box essentially?
  3. Have you considered some sort of stage isolator (Gramma Pad) to cut the boom? I think hearing exactly what the FOH gets is ideal so I wouldn't want to amend my tone too much. The BDDI and RCF setup sounds perfect. Maybe a 10" cab would suit better?
  4. Take a desk recording of your set and send to deps with charts if quality is an issue? In answer to your question - 100% of gigs, exceptional circumstances aside.
  5. There's a group on Facebook called Bassist Ireland that you could try - hopefully someone in the area will be able to help out
  6. What about a pedal? A tuner or something a bit more daring like an overdrive?
  7. Just worked it out - 9 electric basses, one of which is fretless. I could do with selling 3 really now that I think of it!
  8. Have seen quite a few of them for sale recently - they were mistakenly thought to have been a limited run, but there were 1000's made.
  9. Aside from obvious faults/build issues - can't all basses be made playable with a good setup?
  10. I had a set of the Lugs quad driver moulds and they just sounded like mush from the get go. The seal was good but no definition whatsoever in the sound, there was never enough treble and consequently it adversely affected my impression of vocals and other instruments. They were my primary earphone between UE11 and JH Roxannes and I couldn't get rid of them fast enough! Just my own experience.
  11. I'm with the mistake crowd. I prefer the 'fixed' version - just sounds better corrected IMO
  12. My spare would be one which was similar enough not to have to make wholesale EQ changes if called upon. Could cause issues for soundman etc too.
  13. Newcastle is great. The Geordies are such a warm and welcoming bunch of people with a great wit and sense of humour. There's a great football team there too which it seems 99% of the city follow intently. One of my favourite cities in the UK for sure.
  14. In my experience, drummers mostly like to hear themselves over others - I guess it's what they are used to. Perhaps a single overhead mic (well positioned) might do the trick?
  15. Love Killing Joke - really just discovered the band around a month ago. Love Like Blood is superb!
  16. @horrorshowbass This thread is your life in a nutshell!
  17. I assumed the ZS10 and ZS10 Pro were just two different names for the same earphone? There is a Pro X which appears to be a different product, but no differential between ZS10 and Pro on their website.
  18. I would think about a lower tension flat than the Deep Talkin if you play over the Stingray bridge pickup. The tension there would be quite high.
  19. Just got Snakepit tickets for both nights in Amsterdam, April 2023! Can't wait!
  20. In my experience of Roto RS66s, 8 hours playtime is more than enough to wear out a string.
  21. Just in the door at home after a weekend of smashing gigs in the UAE - first time over there, it's totally amazing! Brought 2016 US P Bass, HX Stomp and IEMs with me and it sounded great! Local crew over there were superb and provided all PA stuff. Can't wait to get back over there!
  22. It certainly is. While the pickup itself is wound in a single coil - the positioning over pole pieces greatly affects the vibration of the string within the magnetic field. This phenomenon led to the infamous Stingray weak G syndrome for over 40 years before finally being corrected.
  23. People will tell you that it doesn't make a difference - aesthetically it does and IMHO also sonically. The magnetic field that a string vibrates in is different depending on how much of the string is above the pole piece. For me, consistency is key and I feel the same about strings being perfectly centred between pole pieces (e.g. J and P basses)
