I call our singer Stéphane. Now there, you have a point. Your 'singing' is, indeed, something else. My eyes moisten at the mere thought.
-
If this is the total extent of your issues with modern times, you're doing very well; I shall shed no tears. ...

The terms are not mutually exclusive, surely..? A singer is a vocalist, and a singer, and a musician, and a [insert epithet of choice...] all at the same time, no..?
-
Happy to oblige, courtesy of the OED ... vocalist NOUN A singer, typically one who regularly performs with a jazz or pop group. ... Hope this helps.

He's not alone. (Well, maybe not 'hated', that's a bit strong, but I sure ain't gonna play it again ...)

I've always liked Erroll Garner's 'Misty', and am still working on it; have been for a few decades, now. One day, maybe... Good luck with the audition; the French use the 'mot de Cambronne' for these occasions. The British say 'Break a leg'.

Then you might appreciate this from the master Casady (let it build up; it's worth it...)...

Do the best pro-bass players mainly play 4 strings?

What a delightful rhyme..! You're such an angel for having posted that. -
SOLD subject to the usual: Valve Heft! Ashdown CTM-100 £575
Dad3353 replied to cattytown's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Amps with an all-valve output stage, such as this one, don't have different power output in the same way as solid-state amps. The output goes to an output transformer, from which there are tappings for the different impedances. The output stage 'sees' the same impedance, and so delivers the same power, whichever tap is used. This amp delivers 100w into 4 or 8 ohms. These are valve watts, of course, and will sound, usually, considerable louder than similarly rated solid-state amps. Hope this helps; good luck with the sale. -
Please don't confuse criticism of the music with criticism of your good self; there is no correlation. I've appreciated many of your more erudite posts, on several subjects. Our choice of music to listen to, and/or play, is quite certainly far apart, but that's not restricted to you alone, so don't feel targeted at all; that would be doing yourself a great disservice. Peace.

Goodness gracious..! Unaware of other versions of this song, I was inspired to give this a listen, on the back of this recommendation. I regretted this decision quite quickly, and didn't even get past the half-way mark (unusually, as I like to give everyone their chance...). 'Big beat', cheesy arpeggios, vocoders galore, sub-BeeGees harmonies, 'Pooo.. Pooo..' synth 'drums, an 'arrangement' of sorts, although term seems inadequate... Goodness gracious..! It's been quite a while since I listened to such tosh. They say that all is a matter of taste. Hmm... I'll be more wary next time. Goodness gracious..! Warning: Please don't be inspired to make the same mistake as I did without the full knowledge that this is highly likely to not be a pleasant experience. At your own peril, then.

FS: Genzler 10-2 Array Cab - SOLD PENDING
Dad3353 replied to bassace's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Looks can be deceiving, though. In fact, it's not a 2 x 10 cab, it's a '10-2' cab, with one 10" speaker and an array of four 2.5" speakers. Here's a link to the maker's web page about it... Genzler Bass Array 10-2 ... Maybe this makes things a bit more clear..? Hope this helps; good luck with the sale. -
Phew..! I wasn't that far from the truth, then. My contribution stands.
-
Wot..? You mean to say that that blue blob thing is not a lagoon..? They're not mountains on the left..? Oh dear; I fear I've misconstrued the symbolic this month. Apologies; I may have to re-think this...
-
Sha looks gorgeous, well done. To judge from the photo, she's already in the woodshed..!
-
A spot of excellence going on there, methinks..? If I was to be really 'picky', I'd say that the vocals are a tad 'intense' for my general listening pleasure, better suited to live performance, perhaps, but that's really looking hard for summit to criticise. Compositions..? Excellent (to judge from the snapshots linked...). Arrangements..? Excellent. Standard of playing ..? Excellent. Quality of recording-mixing..? Excellent. Bass..? Excellent. S'not flattery; s'excellent, is all. Good Stuff, well done all involved.

... and some folks have racks of disco-funk stuff that, to me, sound identical and cheesy. Different tastes, I suspect.

Good morning, John, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.

Classical and Contemporary Studies for Bass Guitar

Ah, I'd not thought about this modern malarky. Masking tape over the screen..? -
Who needs woodworking tools.....
Dad3353 replied to lemmywinks's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
A few decades ago, I had a neighbour who wanted help with the refection of an old fireplace, the surround of which had been papered over with 'rustic brick' wallpaper. Once it was stripped away, the underlying real rustic bricks became apparent. Some folks are just simply odd. -

Not the prettiest of solutions, but masking tape over the tab would solve that particular issue, I'd suggest. Just a thought.
