One of my ex girlfriends (Goth/ Punk) turned up with a mixed tape to listen to. Mid way through the tape there was a version of Purple Haze which I commented on. She was amazed as I rarely knew any of the music she played. She didn't realise Hendrix had recorded it many years earlier.
Soft Cell's version of "Tainted Love" is probably now considered the "go to" version with the majority of the population not knowing it was by Mrs Marc Bolan.
A looong time ago, 2010 IIRC, I imported a Veillette Citron bass from the USA.
Arrived in the UK only to bounce between 2 HMRC depots for about 4 or 5 days.
I watched this on the tracker never understanding why.
Eventually arrived safely though.
Yep...Flea...there I've said it.
All these comparisons with MK, Geddy Lee, Les Claypool...
To me he sounds like a 19 year old kid with poor technique making noise in your local music shop on a Saturday afternoon.
Sorry...I can't let this thread go any further without saying the unsayable...
Bob Marley's album "Legend" - totally killed his work for me. Nearly everyone I know has that album/ CD - their only venture into reggae ( well maybe "Labour of love" by UB40 too).
It's gone up since I first saw it...plenty of time left - will sell for loads more
