  4. At this year's SE Bash Laurence Cottle did one of the seminars. For those who don't know Laurence check out the artists he's played with and what tracks he's recorded. He says that he practices 5-6 hours every day - and you can tell. He plays effortlessly in all styles, note perfect, never misses a beat. Inspirational? No! Pisssed me right off - completely demoralised. Till that seminar I thought that I was "alright " and could hold my own. If I'd put in the same hours practicing would I be as good? Unlikely - for me, like many others here, playing bass is a way to vent my artistic streak...if it was my job I would probably come to hate it.
  5. Very Ritter-esque...

  8. Couple of decent looking Ashdown cabs - collection only - in SE London. Currently £40 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266621105565?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3FR9ALnwTIW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=3arTyUkpQE-&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

  10. £600?? Now that's cheap for one of these. Didn't somebody post in the Wanted ads for one? IIRC they did want it cheap - I haven't seen one for less.
  11. I can understand why you'd want that back Good luck with your hunt.
  12. ..but it is one less resource to have.
  13. Oh what a night(rogen) - Four Seasons
  14. You can't find a decent bass for under £1200? Ridiculous!! There are loads of good basses available for far less. Have a look on the Basses for sale thread here - lots that I'd love to own for under your price. Build quality of the "cheap" basses today means that it's difficult to find a poorly built bass - you might want to upgrade parts but you really don't "need" to. I don't know what constitutes a "decent" bass in your mind so I'll keep my rubbish Yamaha, G&L, Lakland and Squiers - wouldn't want to clutter the marketplace with junk.
  15. Chant no1- Spandau Ballet
  16. We are the champions (the wonder horses) - Queen
  17. Good reason to return it to a natural finish surely...
  18. Thanks for posting that... Mick Karn was one of the reasons that I started playing bass when everybody around me was learning to play guitar. His unique style and sound were so inspirational. I have most of his solo albums - not easy listening for non bass players which goes some way to explaining why he wasn't commercially successful however you only need to look at the list of collaborations to see that he was admired by his contemporaries. I just hope that his music and fame have the longevity that he deserves.
  19. I think it's amazing when people leave positive feedback for retailers - I love the fact that BC isn't just a place where grumpy old men get together to moan about stuff. If this retailer has been forced to go to appointment only due to theft then that is a poor reflection on people not on the shop owners whose Insurance et al probably jumped up as a result.
  20. The Squier Dimension models are ridiculously good vfm. I've seen them for around £200 - they are not £200 basses!!
  21. Home, home on the range - Neil Young
  22. Sold for £986...
  23. You're poison - Alice Cooper
