  2. 70s and 80s Fenders??
  3. Couple of decent looking Ashdown cabs - collection only - in SE London. Currently £40 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266621105565?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3FR9ALnwTIW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=3arTyUkpQE-&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

  5. £600?? Now that's cheap for one of these. Didn't somebody post in the Wanted ads for one? IIRC they did want it cheap - I haven't seen one for less.
  6. I can understand why you'd want that back Good luck with your hunt.
  7. ..but it is one less resource to have.
  8. Oh what a night(rogen) - Four Seasons
  9. You can't find a decent bass for under £1200? Ridiculous!! There are loads of good basses available for far less. Have a look on the Basses for sale thread here - lots that I'd love to own for under your price. Build quality of the "cheap" basses today means that it's difficult to find a poorly built bass - you might want to upgrade parts but you really don't "need" to. I don't know what constitutes a "decent" bass in your mind so I'll keep my rubbish Yamaha, G&L, Lakland and Squiers - wouldn't want to clutter the marketplace with junk.
  10. Chant no1- Spandau Ballet
  11. We are the champions (the wonder horses) - Queen
  12. Good reason to return it to a natural finish surely...
  13. Thanks for posting that... Mick Karn was one of the reasons that I started playing bass when everybody around me was learning to play guitar. His unique style and sound were so inspirational. I have most of his solo albums - not easy listening for non bass players which goes some way to explaining why he wasn't commercially successful however you only need to look at the list of collaborations to see that he was admired by his contemporaries. I just hope that his music and fame have the longevity that he deserves.
  14. I think it's amazing when people leave positive feedback for retailers - I love the fact that BC isn't just a place where grumpy old men get together to moan about stuff. If this retailer has been forced to go to appointment only due to theft then that is a poor reflection on people not on the shop owners whose Insurance et al probably jumped up as a result.
  15. The Squier Dimension models are ridiculously good vfm. I've seen them for around £200 - they are not £200 basses!!
  16. Home, home on the range - Neil Young
  17. Sold for £986...
  18. You're poison - Alice Cooper
  19. I wasn't aware of this thread. These are all currently in my possession - shows how much I appreciate the marque
  20. Nope...still there... https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-trb1005-5-string-bass./1472356593
  21. There's a 6 string on gumtree at the moment for £750. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-6-string-bass/1472796217 There was a 5er for £500 last week, seems to have sold. Bargains do come up, normally when I'm skint, just being in the right place at the right time, I suppose.
  22. A similar tale - bought an amp off eBay which I knew needed work, had it sent directly to Ashdown, quick conversation with Guy and he made it like new - no service charge, nothing for parts and they paid for the P&P. Total cost to me? £0 Best CS from a music company by a mile (with Bernie Goodfellow a close second). More than happy to blow their trumpet for them.
  23. Wow...love the figuring on the body. No secret that Alan builds amazing instruments.
  24. TRBs must be (one of) the most under-rated, and consequently the most underpriced basses in the used bass marketplace. I don't play mine anywhere near enough but that's true of all of them.
  25. Not so...I had one - really liked it. Very good basses, well balanced, good tonal range, nice neck and great build quality (always an issue for me with Fender). They can be picked up for relatively silly money - after all they're not a J or a P so your hardcore Fender-rite can't be seen playing one in public. Don't be put off by negative comments by others who think that Fender should have stopped designing new basses after introducing the J bass.
