1.
The Orange O bass was the single biggest 'wtf' moment for me.....like.....really? You waited for winter NAMM to announce this thing?! Blurgh Si
Not having heard of this, inquiring minds needed to know.
2.
Ah you won't be wanting to borrow the extra footage dvd then?!
Thanks ever so kindly, but I think I'll have to pass.
3.
Was there any aimless noodling in it?
Yep - about seven hours of it. I had this film inflicted on me - felt like about a week I won't get back. Guess you have to buy into the whole jazz thing.

5. If I might venture a somewhat less vegetarian point of view: F*** 'em. If you like the bass, keep it. If any of these folk start talking about getting 'legal', call their bluff and make them shell out. If it turns out you do have to return it, strip it, 'cos this is what you did back when you bought it in good faith and it was yours to do as you liked with. I'm much more inclined to believe they've had a better offer.
6. I can only assume the one at 91/2lbs must have had a car battery in the back! As I had nothing better to do - RBX170 3.6kg BB415 4.7kg (Wow!) Hohner B2V 3.4kg Vintage V800/5 3.6kg Cheapy G4M P 3.5kg The Legendary Shrinking Violet 3.5kg I always thought the BB was a hefty beast, but that was a shock.
7. I've just been jumping on and off the scales and get about 3.6kg, which when multiplied by the square root of the maximum inductance value over distance comes out at slightly North-East of six hours. Hope that helps. Seriously though, why don't manufacturers publish these figures? They must know the weights for despatch if nothing else. Purely out of curiosity, I've just put it on my kitchen scales and it showed 2.2kg, which I can only assume is utter pish. No wonder my cooking's crap!
8. 1. Insert said stand into said drummer. 2. Stamp on the pedal until bored. Job done.
9. Top right-hand corner of Wales, where there be Dragons.
10.
You don't know how pleased I am to see you confirm that! Thought I was being even less competent than I thought!
Just suppose I'll have to look even dafter than usual now, then.
11. Do you think they'll accept fake money?
12. I bought this on remainder a few years ago, and bloody gave it away!
13. Don't know what it is, but I rather like it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Incredible-custom-Roberts-headless-bass-guitar-4-String-Right-Handed-Amazing-/371530931321?hash=item5680f81c79:g:B00AAOSwT~9WlWba Did they really put those string-trees there? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Modulus-Carbon-Fibrer-Headless-4-String-Bass-Guitar-pristine-condition-Rgt-Hand-/371530926648?hash=item5680f80a38:g:ImUAAOSwKtlWlWN1 EXCELLENT (Bill & Ted voice) for metal! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-1980s-Hondo-The-Sting-Electric-Bass-Guitar-Headless-H-895-/281891407050?hash=item41a20984ca:g:ocMAAOSwk1JWeGXi
14.
These ones https://www.youtube....h?v=UapIuZeKi98 are pretty solid and fold up to very little.
You take a sofa to gigs? Bet you're popular!
15. But does it have as dubious a label as this one? http://www.ebay.co.u...XAAAOSwKtlWlBEh Looks a lot like a B2 to my eyes.
16. Its a big ole 'let's try this again' bump!
17.
Try Status Graphite. They do a range of double ball end strings and are much cheaper. Follow the links via the online shop menu on the left.
Thanks for that, how did I not even know they made strings? Set duly ordered.
18. And yet it makes no sense - 40 quid in this country, but 28 after going halfway round the world, its bloody ridiculous! But that's a whole different thread, I suppose.
19. I'm in need of some strings for a Hohner B2V. The leading contenders on't 'bay are Rotosounds or Ken Smiths. I've never tried either brand on any bass, so any thoughts on them? And will Osbourne be sticking his hand out if I get them from That America? I don't really want to be spending stupid money on them as I don't know if she's a keeper yet.
20. Own 7, gig 2. (BB415 & The Legendary Shrinking Violet) Oh dear, I think I'd better start a 'For Sale' thread!
21.
Maybe I'm being silly but I wouldn't wear inears unless they had some kind of limiter on them. I've had too many "crazy feedback on stage" incidents to trust that I wouldn't get my eardrums permanently damaged by someone doing something stupid. I'll stick to wearing my (good quality) earplugs and using separate monitors!
I never had this problem, it was just that the 'ears' didn't block out enough external sound. Were there mic'ed up cabs in your setup that caused this?
22.
If you have the option try rolling the super lows off too. Means you can get a more clear sound of the bass without having to crank it. I remove everything below 50hz when i use my amp as monitor only. Works for me! Not really anything to add about in ears though
Yep - bass pot all the way off and a reet good slice off the low mid pot, and a treble boost too. Also gives a pleasing 60s palm-and-pick sound as well. Which is nice.
23. I used IEMs for a while, but still went cymbal-deaf, so stuck to earplugs. I DI into the PA and use a small practice combo as a monitor. It has a CD input for playalongs, so now I feed the IEM receiver in to that with the vocals on. Bass and lead vocals pointed at my head all EQ'd to my taste without affecting the audient, and no ringing ears on the way home. I will need much convincing to change.
24. I'll play a given song on whatever takes my fancy at the time, but if the pick's been in my mouth long enough for me to start drooling excessively the decision's made for me! When I change I usually adjust the settings on my effects board (the one next to the volume pot) Job done.
25. Scratchplates in general - do any of them protect the finish where you actually use a pick? Yet many 'plate-free basses can look too slabby. Fussy git! Saddle screws digging in and/or madly uncomfortable bridges make me quite shouty. Surely it aten't beyond the realms of machining technology to make a truss-rod changeable without major surgery? I have never owned or played an expensive instrument, though. All the basses I've ever owned must have been utter crap as none of them made me play like Jamerson.
