Been after one of these for ages. I've got the 34" version. Great bass. Looks like I'm too late. Bugger
Like the look of the big 'uns. If they're as good as this one they can't fail.

I don't know what you're thinking of, but its plainly a Samick Corsair. Its a Candy Apple red P-bass, white scratchy, rosewood board, painted headstock, I've seen you folk come all a-quiver over less! Make no mistake, this is a proper bass, and that kind of does your nut in for while when you start playing it. The only difference is that it needs a tune every 10 mins or so if you gig with it, as the strings are seriously low tension. Very floppy. Oo-er! Also very handy for rehearsing in singer's kitchens, plugging into car stereos and looking nine feet tall on stage. My new TRBX (see other thread!) was supposed to replace this, I've gigged this loads and it has to be the most comfortable bass to have hanging about your person all evening I've ever tried. I love the sound, and love the feel. Car trouble forces sale, and yes, I do like it enough to buy another one when I'm able, but that's a while off. Its in nice enough usable condition, the only faults are some scratches in the paint on the back of the neck, some of which have been 'penned' (I assume) by it's previous owner. They are only paint deep, however and have not touched the wood beneath. They annoy me, too, but only by being there, not while playing. I've tried to get pictures of them with questionable success! I'll take more if anyone wants. The Gun-metal-style finish (not sure what you call it!) started to rub off the knobs and the bridge, so I polished the rest of it off, leaving it a kind of nickel colour, which I like, but its not exactly standard. The original finish is still on the tuners. It is what it is, a perfectly usable bass that won't exactly give anyone palpitations of longing, but that's what a hundred quid gets yer! Delivery is extra depending on location, free within 50ish miles of CH5. (or will be - see other thread!) Ta fer lookin'. Some more pictures - and yes, they really are my fully extended stumpy-arse fingers! 7. We have Peavey Sub and Pro 15 speakers - the tweeters are utter crap! They're a nice top speaker otherwise. I'll try and find out what I replaced ours with, the originals went through 3 sets of diaphragms but the latest ones have been great. I'll pull them out sometime over the next couple of days and see what they are. Upgrade the hf drivers and you'll end up with a good pair of speakers. F****** useless handles notwithstanding, of course! Edit: I replaced them with these and they've been great. http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?product=P_Audio_SD-34SF_30W_1_inch_Screw_On_Compression_Driver&id=PAUSD34SF Outperformed the originals in every department.
  8. My 2p's worth - Stick a pair of Strat knobs on, they weigh slightly more than air, and come in a million colours. All mine have got them on. Plus they say 'volume' and 'tone' on them which slakes my thirst for pedantry!
  9.
Definately, for me the drummer is the most important member of the band
Which is fair enough, but you don't actually tell them that do you? *shudders*
  10.
For a version that is a distinct improvement over the original how about This Mortal Coil's version of "Song To The Siren"?
Never heard that one before. Is it a product of the shedful of effects that makes her sound...well...deaf? Nice atmosphere otherwise. People usually stare at me like I've got more than the one head when I say this, but I think the bestest ever version of that song is this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KTZqP9FkuE When the band comes in on the little drum fill I get goosebumps. A whole level above Percy Plant's ruinous version!

  12.
Why Don't Guys Care About Their Appearance?
In my case, 'coz I'm f*ck ugly and it is therefore pointless. There are men who care about their appearance, but they tend to be guitarists. Jus' Sayin'
  13. I'm friends with my band, but I don't talk to my member.

  15. Did a bit of a 'speriment today - tuned the li'l P up to BEAD on the strings it has on, without a setup, and it was rather fun (though the action was a tad(!) high). I reckon a short scale C string will be crossing my path soon, and that can go up to G. Out of interest, does BEAD qualify as a pic?
  16.
Have you modified it? The standard Samick Corsair is just a very short scale bass isn't it?
It is, TBH. I always fancied the idea of a noodle in the higher range - I've no doubt the bass itself is up to it - but simply haven't had a set of strings to try it out. It doesn't help that it's been so damn handy for ad-hoc rehearsals in singers' kitchens and the like. (with titchy amp kicked under the chair!) Although this does remind me that as I no longer have the said titchy amp, I've got no excuse not to try it high-up now. Duh! Anyone have any string recommendations? (cheap would be good.) Edit: it seems after a quick googles, its a case of 'find some'.
  17. I actually quite like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BASS-GUITAR-STRINGS-4-STRING-TOP-QUALITY-/370376435828?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item563c27e874 although 'B' in the 5 string set is usually a bit too long for my Peavey
  18.
Fixed it for ya
'Boo!' and such. I slink away, a shattered husk of a man. I shall plot and scheme until finding a way of making images of red Geep Nines haunt your dreams. I saw one when they came out (aged 12) and thought it meant I officially lived in 'the future'. (Thread hijack over. Sorry, green bass owners.)

  20.
It's the same with bikes. A green Kawasaki is always faster than the same bike in a different colour. It's the law.

A Kawasaki that isn't green isn't a Kawasaki - just some sort of cheap clone
There's an exception to every rule, and in this case it was the GPZ9 which looked very silly in green. I don't have a green bass, but am kind of wishing I did, now. As you were.
  21.
They might be worth a punt but for the same price or less you can get. http://www.thomann.d...tage_series.htm Or http://www.thomann.d...ot_rod_bass.htm Both look like better options to me.
That PJ looks rather lush. Me likey! I forgot - just like Grangur's I had to throw a shim in it. All good after.
  22. I've got a red'n'white one that I got for 30 tokens, and TBH it's going nowhere. The neck is fab for a cheapie, its the best part of it. It makes all the right noises and that does me. I swapped the tuners on it, they held tune well enough but weren't smooth and were horrid to look at. A set of decent strings and it goes everywhere with me as back-up and occasional 'I feel like playing a red one' gigger. If you want to hear one go on my SignedClyde below - I used it on the song 'Trapped'. I thought it needed a P sound and had it with me, job done!
