Yep, guitar size hardcase will be fine. Personally I prefer gigbags and use Thomann Premium Leatherette Guitar Gigbags. They also fit in the bass size ones too, the neck support strap luckily comes in just under the headstock. Truckstop

Gallien Krueger RB400 £250 delivered SOLD
Truckstop replied to nickytheafghan's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I used to have one of these for 5 years and only sold it when I went through a valve phase a couple of years ago! If I was looking for a modular rig again, the RB400 is exactly what I'd start with. Great GK tone in a small package with all the bells and whistles associated with top quality touring heads. Truckstop -
I love those GK combos. MB150s? Truckstop

The line appears to be there purely for aesthetic reasons. I assume it's supposed to be a grounding strip (obviously the usual way to ground is by soldering a wire from the bridge to the electrics cavity). It appears to just be some adhesive copper tape and it's not soldered to the pickguard or anything. I think it looks quite cool so I've left it there! Intonation is close but not quite spot on. I haven't actually done a proper set-up on it yet. It's wearing a brand new set of Rotosound 88's so I was gonna let them settle in for a couple of weeks before setting up. I've decided to sell it before setting up myself. I'm confident that it'll set up well and the truss rod works both ways as I tweaked it a little when I put the new strings on. Cheers Alex

Yes, Musicmasters were designed to utilise Strat pups when they first came out in the 70's. The Musicmaster was an entry level bass and as such Fender didn't waste time, money or resources on developing a bass specific pup for the job. Hence, guitar pups being the norm for Musicmasters. I think Wizard designed a bass specific pup and wiring loom for use in Musicmasters and Broncos but most people seem happy to use guitar pups. 'Hot Rail' style pups seem to be preferred by most people as a direct replacement because obviously the problem with guitar pups is that they have 6 pole pieces that don't line up with the strings; a blade-style pup solves that problem. I decided to keep the Strat style pup in because I think it sounds better. A Kent Armstrong Hot Rail pup will be included in the sale so you can have a go yourself! Alex Edit: should also mention that I have the original pup cover included with this bass also. I prefer the visible pole look!

Hello all, Need something more suitable for heavy gigging use so looking to swap this for a Jap or Mex P or J. Also happy to look at VM/CV Squier P, J or Tele basses with some cash my way. 4-bangers only please. Not bothered about colour combos, but I prefer traditional colour schemes; red, black, SB etc. Anyway, more on the Musicmaster; I've had this for a while but never got round to sorting it out. It needed a jolly good tidy up and a new pup. I took it apart, cleaned it and polished it and looks great. The neck was covered in grime; some polish, elbow grease and lemon oil made short work of that and now looks and feels great! The tuners are a little stiff, but work fine and are all original. All the hardware and pickguard are orginal. All that has been replaced are the electronics which didn't work (the original pup and wiring will be included in the sale). There will also be a Kent Armstrong hot-rail included and there is a Fender Strat pup installed at the moment; I prefer it to the Kent Armstrong. The wiring is a Ki0gon P wiring loom. Ive not been able to source any replacement knobs. The originals will be included in the sale also. I decided that new 1/4" knurled chrome knobs would look out of place on this and I've been holding out for some black plastic knobs but haven't found any yet . I would say overall condition is about 6/10. Lots of bangs, scrapes, chips, wear and crazing but is all in one piece, structurally sound and all original. Bridge and tuners show patination and some of the pickguard screw holes could do with filling. It's got a weird sound. Plenty of bass, but not too articulate. Sounds very punchy with bags of attitude, but definitely not suitable for a clean, hi-fi type sound. Rock and punk bassists love these and I can see why; perfect for chugging away with! I'm looking for £375 cash (paypal or bank transfer) or a trade deal to the same value. I have a little money to add on for a suitable trade, but not much! I live in St. Albans and collection is preferred but delivery is possible at buyers cost. If you live near enough, I'll deliver for you! Alex

Pricetag - Jessie J seems to impress most people funnily enough. In front of other musicians though I like thumbing through Respect - Aretha Franklin because I know I can get the groove just right and it's a real infectious and recognisable line. Easy, too! Truckstop

And that is exactly why I never watch product demos. Tedious, poorly produced/executed, unartistic crap! Bass does look nice though. Truckstop

I love Marshall pedals. If I didn't already have one, I'd buy this one! Sounds great on bass aswell as guitar, built to last, nice heavy action on the knobs and has a nice small footprint. I think these newer Marshall pedals really punch above their price; the Guv'nor 2 in particular has a lovely warmth to it that other fuzzes seem to lack. The JH is similar. It's got a real warm quality to it but is also capable of real filth while managing to remain tuneful. GLWTS Alex

Mudvayne - LD50 Ryan Martinie's chordal work is something I've tried to emulate and adapt to my own purposes. So, as a bassist, that is the most important album with respects to developing my playing style and note choices. M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming This album taught me how to be funky and at the same time how to lay down the basis of the song. It taught me the different roles that chordal instruments and bass instruments interract with each other and that sometimes the bass can provide the actual melody of the song and the chordal instruments are just reinforcing the mood of the song. It's hard to explain, but this album really changed the way that I listen to music, play my instruments and write songs. Truckstop

God, how loud do you want to get?! That rig would easily be loud enough for almost all applications. If you needed to be louder, you'd be DI'd. Truckstop

I have a Mustang and a Musicmaster. Personally, if advise against a Musicmaster or Bronco if you want a bass to use for those types of purposes. I don't think they have enough weight behind them, even with an upgraded 'hot-rails' style pickup (even though I actually preferred the original Strat style pup that came with it!). I'd go with a Squier Mustang or Jaguar. Only because I don't like the EB-0/Eb-3 aesthetics! I would say though, that the bass is only half the sound; a decent little amp goes a long way in a band situation. Another tip; whatever you get, invest in some decent proper short-scale strings. They will make life a lot easier for you when it comes to setting up and as you know, fresh strings really give you an idea of what the instrument really sounds like. Truckstop

Yeah, Paul. Don't be a dick! Sell the Roscoes and buy a decent Jazz or something and maybe downsize to a decent 1x10/12 combo just in case. Truckstop
