1. Edit: Nevermind! Truckstop
2. My bass is with Ou7shined (Rich) at the moment. He's doing a very thorough job (copper shielding, re-sealing etc) for a good price. PM him for a quote! Truckstop
3. It would be amazing... obviously. Truckstop
4. I love Alleva headstocks. I think they're really classy and it looks great all sparkly! Truckstop
5. And for gods sake, be careful where you put the bloody iron if you don't have a holder for it! And, for gods sake! Make sure you're working on a solid work bench/table! Truckstop
6. Yeah ^ I thought vocalists picked a key they were comfortable with (seemingly out of their arses) and then you transpose songs to that one key? And is it really that much of a pain in the arse to tune inbetween songs? Do the songs in your setlist require different tunings for each and every song? Maybe have a look at how the setlist is constructed, because I'll admit, tuning on stage looks unprofessional (well, more so than a guitar change), but again, multiple guitar changes can look a little pretentious if you're not U2 or a band of equal stature. Or if you don't like using 5 strings, tune a 4 string BEAD and learn the songs using that tuning a find a way to do without the G? Or, if you're not a rock band, you could get away with just using the higher octave Eb, D, C? Truckstop
7. I really wish that Orange would make either a microhead (like the Ampeg PF350) or a pre-amp pedal (like the Sansamp shizzle). Or even an onboard pre-amp a la J-East Retro might be pretty wick. I also really wish that Fender made bass combos that looked exactly like a Frontman1212. They look the nuts! You can only really use the TV's if you're in a motown tribute band and the Rumble combos look cheap and 'orrible. I appreciate you might be able to dig out a Musicmaster or something on ebay, but I want new stuff, not old dusty broken stuff! And I really really wish that someone would make a proper bass specific reverb pedal. I know you can get some well nice rackmount ones, but I want one in a pedal and I don't like EBS effects. 8. Same. How can a 12 year old be so smarmy already? Truckstop
9. Are you the Fonz? Truckstop
10. Make sure you get the ultra-insane dangerous toxic paint stripper! Normal nitro-mors just doesnt seem to work on Poly finishes. Get the red container, not the green one! Truckstop
11. Fine. My guitars and cabs will end up being worth a fortune in 40 years! Truckstop
12. Hmmm, I would put to you that nobody will ever be truly happy with their rig for a substantial period of time. Fashions change, circumstances change, attitudes change. Truckstop
13. Personally, I think you'll need to rely on a sparkling personality more than anything else. Essentially, there are thousands of people out there who can play what you can. The ones that end up in a band are those who are reliable, who a good laugh, who contribute to all aspects of being in a band and who have a small ego. I think as long as you can remember what riffs to play when, you'll fit in anywhere. You really don't need to worry about being pro-standard to get into a band. Truckstop
14. I would drive to Swindon tonight to take this off his hands! But having just bought a Gherson and sent my Jazz off to be resprayed I simply can't afford it right now! Gah! Truckstop
15. Another vote for View To A Kill. A very well crafted bassline that really adds to the atmosphere of the song. Great tone too! It's also my favourite Bond film AND my favourite DD song. Truckstop
16. Sold a Peavey Milestone Mk.1 to Ad. Organised his own courier and kept me updated every step of the way! Great buyer L@@K a+++++!!!! Cheers Alex
17. Sent me some free rubber straplocks in double quick time! Cheers! Alex
18. Well, Bankai did suggest that the Epiphone he used for the shootout has a lower frequency response than others. So maybe that's why he had trouble tuning the B? Truckstop
19.
I use an Artec Big Dots tuner. Very easy to read on stage and gets low B with no problem. But I've never heard of anyone else using these, and don't recall every seeing them mentioned on these forums. Are there any other users out there?
Yeah I use one of those! Works great, nice and quick and very visible. Looks uber cool too Truckstop
20. My aunt lives in Matlock and I'm up there next weekend to stay and take in a visit to Alton Towers! Anything happen on saturday nights up there? Truckstop
21. Another reason why I don't expect to pay extra for a set-up is because more often than not the seller is lying to your face! Wow, the guitar is set-up so that you can play it properly... ok, I can do that with a couple of allen keys at home in half an hour. I'm not going to say that it's been 'set-up', I'm just going to say that it works like a bass should! Supposing you turn up to try the bass out before you buy it, who's to say that a £30 set-up's been done on it specifically for the purpose of selling it on? Truckstop
22. Wow, so you've been in pretty much the only two tribute bands i'd ever consider being in (well, except for a Prince cover band. That'd be the best!)! Welcome! Truckstop
23. Just bought some Italcrap off Happyjack and couldnt be happier! A great price and he was even nice enough to prise himself from the dinner table to show me all the bits and bobs and gubbins and intricities of the bass. It was exactly as described too! Cheers! See you at the S.E. Bassbash! Alex
24. I'm going for Duck Dunn or Andy Fraser! Shown here being painfully '70s! Truckstop
25. Alrighty, this is sold! Cheers Alex
