1. More structure advice from me! Write down exactly how the song goes because so many times you'll be rehearsing a song and then you'll all forget what happens after the second chorus for example. Either have a CD player handy or well written notes! "No, hang on, innit the solo now?" "I think it was the verse riff for a bit, then the middle 8" "No, we play the chorus twice, but with a ring out at the end" ALL "and THEN the solo!" and so on and so forth Truckstop
2. Cant believe how busy he's been. I had #368. He's now done another 1,000!
3. Bump for "back up for sale/trade!" Alex
4. Coooooool! I used to have a Wishbass Singlecut Peanut 6 and it actually had a real tone and very very lightweight. Very aggressive, mine was! Wish I hadnt sold it now... Truckstop
5. Oh, Lorne...I want it!!!!!! Truckstop
6. I had one for a few years too, the Turquoise version. Looks stunning and play extremely well (for my hands at least!). Im not sure if it was just the JM's, but Yammies seem to end up with jack socket problems, the leads fall out if you jiggle the bass a little. Make sure you get that sorted before you buy it, or get prepared to spend a little cash on a new jack socket once you've bought it. Electrically, I never had any problems. The tone controls are very very sensitive and have a massive scope. Jangly highs all the way to dubby lows. Absolutely fantastic instruments. Build quality is out of this world. Personally, just because they're incredible instruments, I'd be happy to pay anything up to £600 (if i was gassing for one). But I doubt you'll ever have to pay that much. I reckon £400-£450 is good money. Truckstop
7. Bump for reduced prices! Truckstop
8. Bump for legendary synth! Will take offers on this bad boy Trucsktop
9. Going home bump! Offers expected! Truckstop
10. I reckon a re-fret. You use it regularly and will continue to do so provided it works properly! Even if you do refret it, when you come to sell it in a few years you'll still be able to sell it for more than you paid for it I reckon. Truckstop
11.
Welcome Scott! Someone was kind giving you a bass. I'm sure you'll find out more than you ever wanted to know, and more, on this forum.
Quite! Welcom to Basschat mate! Truckstop
12. What?! Is everything too expensive? I'll take offers, guys! Alex
13. Yeah I never even bothered using switch cleaner because I couldnt see where I'd apply it! Anyway, I've sold it on now to someone who'll give it a go! Cheers all Alex
14. I think as a lot of people know, flat land that is suitable for cabs being rolled is scarce. I used to use a trolley set for my cabs and just gave up bringing them to gigs as they were only ever useful on the actual floor of the venue. Maybe a cool option would be to buy a very cheap 810 and then rip the speakers out and build your own 410s or any other speaker config and use the shell of the 810 as a very cool wardrobe or storage box. 15. Bump for offers and shizzle! Try me Truckstop
16. It's alright I suppose.... Truckstop
17. Hmmm, new basses that cost that much new raise an eyebrow personally. All the modding in the world wont make a sh*t bass a good'un. Maybe put up an ad here "Wanted: Ultra cheap bass, £150 to spend". You'll be amazed at the offers you'll get. I'd rather wait around here for a while. Occasionally you can get some proper steals! I got my Gherson Jazz for £120 and, alright, it's certainly no world beater, but it sounds like a jazz, it works, it looks cool (plenty of mojo) and it doesnt really need upgrading. I would happily use it for a 3 hour gig without a worry. Those cheapo plywood chinese basses really arent worth the trouble IMHO. Truckstop
18. Hmm, I would do if it bothered me much. It still sounds great and I'm sort of a 'one-sound' kind of guy so it'd only crackle when I turned the bass up for the first time (I use a volume pedal during gigs and rehearsals), I never touch the tone controls during shows or rehearsal so it never bothered me. Like I said, I'm only selling because I need hard cash, fast! Not because I don't like it anymore. I got a good deal on it when I bought it so I'm passing that good deal on to someone else. Truckstop
19. Hello all, This is an amazing legendary synth. Using it's midi (cables supplied) capabilities you can use it as a controller or if you want you can just use it as a keyboard/synth for noodling around on. There are untold thousands of sequences, sounds, instruments, pads etc on this thing. It'd be impossible to go through them all! Every sound or sample can be adjusted using the onboard delay, distortion, reverb or chorus effects, which can then be sequenced, looped etc in any which way you fancy. You can layer sounds and effects, sample sounds, freaking everything! It's got a mic hole so you can use it as a vocoder and I put my bass through it once to get some crazy dub effects running. It also has an effects loop and a socket for a sustainer. This will come with a two-tier stand, power supply and some midi cables. If you ask, I can also supply a Jack-Jack to connect it to a PA/amp/whatever you want. I also have it's original instruction book (practically a novel!). It's in used condition. There's light scratching everywhere but nothing too noticeable. One of the keys on the higher register has been chipped but it still works fine. I've put it up for £80 but will take offers on this because I'm not entirely sure how much these are actually worth. This is a collection only jobbie and will accept cash on collection or a bank transfer. You could ask me to deliver if it's not too far and for some cash. Here's some blurb: The CS1x is Yamaha's first Analog Emulation performance keyboard for electronic and dance musicians (the CS line is back!). It's a digital synthesizer that emulates analog style, sounds and controls. All controls and parameters are real-time and MIDI controllable. As well as a superb set of quality synth bass, pads, voices, leads and arpeggiated sequences there are plenty of amazing drum sounds also with analog sound and control. Plenty of memory (128 preset, 128 user) and MIDI control make the CS1x perfect for both live and studio use. Control the synth, arpeggiator and editing through MIDI control. The CS1x only has limited multitimbrality in which, when hooked up to a sequencer, MIDI channels 5-16 offer plain old Yamaha XG synth sounds but MIDI channel 1 holds the CS1x's main sounds and effects. It's already being used by Underworld, Bushflange, Jamiraquai, Skylab2000, Somatic Responses, and David Bowie. Here's a piccie: Here's a vid showcasing some of the incredible things you can do with this: Link to Youtube Trades I'm after: Cheap amps, reverb units, vocal units, acoustic guitar pickup, good cables etc etc TRY ME! Cheers Alex
20. Hello all, Selling my J-East Retro Jazz bass pre. These sound completely insane. They are fantastic. The tonal range on these things really has to be heard to be believed! If I was'nt on a massive fundraising mission, I'd be keeping it. These preamps fit to any Jazz bass on the market (hence the 'retro') and instantly you have a professional bass. The trebles sing and the bass goes loooowwww. Anyway, the reason why this is cheap is because it has developed a crackle on the volume/pickup select pot. That's it! Otherwise the sound is completely unaffected and it only crackles when you turn the knob. This will come boxed and with instructions for fitting and usage (very easy to fit by the way, just need a soldering iron and four blobs of solder). £75 (delivered) by cash on collection OR bank transfer please. Here's a stock pic: Cheers Alex edit: I'm after any sort of trade you fancy. Cheap, old amps; strings; good leads; reverb unit; good tuners; try me!
21. Hello all, As per the title, I am selling a 2U Stagg Rockbag for £15 delivered. It's in used but not abused condition, has all screws present and shoulder strap also. Payment by cash on collection OR bank transfer. Here's a stock pic: Cheers Alex
22. +1 Ask for a nice one-off fee. £150/£175 per day is good money and is not to be sniffed at. Maybe pitch yourself at £200 a day and then prepare to get haggled down. If it's a big money project, you'll get your £200, if it's a slightly budget production, say you'll do them a favour and do it for £150. You simply can't afford to rely on sales for money. Never comes good. Truckstop
23. Going home from work bump! Truckstop
24. I dont get why people have issues tuning the B. Surely you always tune off the 12th fret harmonic, right? Truckstop
25. I you work as a musician and make a living out of it, or use it to supplement your income in a big way and you rely on your instruments to make that money, then yes. If you're a hobbyist playing in a little covers band every now and then, then no. Truckstop
