1. +1 to all the above. My tip would be: Don't worry about interracting with the audience that much. In my experience (two years working behind a bar at a music pub) people want to dance and/or listen to the music. They don't want to hear someone prattling on about how their dinner was or have a chat with a mate you've brought with you. Unless you're a comedy genius, it's best to leave banter well alone! 2.
My band's new music video
Really enjoyed that! Seeing the vague Fell Silent and Architects influences there and a lovely bass tone! Good work! Truckstop
3. Same here! Does everyone here have a camera running AND record into their computers at the same time or are the mics on cameras good enough these days? Truckstop
4. If getting a blue bass is a deal breaker, why not buy a regular german Streamer for £600 or so and spend £200 getting it refinished in Ocean Blue? You'll still save a few hundred quid and you get exactly what you want! Truckstop
5. Just sold Andrew a J East retro; got the money split quick and kept me updated throughout the whole transaction! Sell this guy stuff with confidence! Cheers Alex
6. Hello mate, You need to put a price up for this, forum rules I'm afraid. If you don't know how much it's worth, just put any old figure up and someone'll be along to advise you via PM. Cheers Truckstop
7. These heads are wick! Good luck with the sale Truckstop
8. Red Onion and Sea Machine sold! Cheers Alex
9. Excellent! Well done mate! Truckstop
10. Well I'm sort of with him. Some people want to walk into a ready formed band that already has songs and a following and gigs lined up. And some people want to start a project and build a band from the ground up. This ad is an ad for the latter, but has the tagline of the former. It's a little misleading. Admittedly it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but you know... just sayin'. Truckstop
11. Oooh, that really is quite special! Congratulations! Truckstop
12. Yeah, someone's selling a German $$ Corvette for £1000 on here and it's proper lush. Worth over £2k new!! Truckstop
13. Sorry everyone, another bump! Will accept offers and and trades, try me! Alex
14. Well, that's the tricky part. It sounds awesome to my ears, but I'm not sure when it last got revalved (if ever) and i'm wondering if it'd sound even MORE awesome if it got revalved! Truckstop
15. Right I will do. Might ask for some cash to get it done as an early birthday present or something. Cheers Alex
16. I would like: Live use Amps/Cabs (all to be recovered in tweed or brown leather. Or maybe two rigs, one in each?) 2xGem Saturn 50's 2xAmpeg 410HE 2XAmpeg 115HE Studio Use Amps/Cabs (Again in tweed or brown leather) 1xGem Saturn 50 1xAmpeg 210HE Effects The entire Earthquaker Devices range (converted to passive so I don't have to bother powering sh*t up) Basses Yamaha RBXJM1 in Turquoise (my old one preferably) MIM Jazz 5 Ibanez Blazer And that should be it! I like all my stuff at the moment, I just want it all to match cos I'm shallow like that! Truckstop
17. Cheers, thanks for the info. I don't think anything's wrong with it, but because I've only had it for a couple of months, I don't know if it sounded 'better' a year or two ago if you know what I mean. Would you recommend getting it to a tech to make sure everything's hunky dory? It's from the 70's (no indication of date inside casing etc) and is made by an italian firm called Gem. The model is a Saturn Bass 50 and I simply cannot find any information on it anywhere! I don't know how well it's been maintained and I can't even see what valves it has, there's no markings or anything. Truckstop
18.
And how about this for speaker cable? Speaker Cable
Well thank god it's available in other lengths otherwise it'd be a rip off! 19. Anything by Mogwai. But 'Kids Will Be Skeletons', 'Whitenoise' and 'Secret Pint' are my favourites. Other Mogwai songs have vocals, but very few and they're often distorted beyond belief via vocoders and delays. Sigur Ros is also a good shout. The '()' album is great. Unfortunately none of the songs have titles, so #4 and #6 are my favourites. I assumed you're talking about modern bands that make a point of being instrumental because otherwise I could name a hundred classical and jazz numbers! edit: Oh, and "Apache". Truckstop
20. Hello, Where in Herts/Beds are they based? Cheers Alex
21. Thanks mate but it's all properly sold this time! Cheers Alex
22.
Sitting here at my Senior Probation Officer desk, I am thrilled to discover that I am a pro musicain. Does that mean I can go home now?
No, you need to fix the country first, ok? Truckstop
23. Quite! For the last 3 years or so I've been slowly taking up acoustic guitar. Recently though, I've been making a real effort to learn songs and scales and now I'm organising a little jazz duo thing with a good friend of mine singing. I must put a soundclip up, I'm very proud of my instrumental ambidextrousness! My bassplaying has improved no end. Making use of different timbres and exploring dynamics. Funnily enough, I also use my volume pedal a lot more too. Truckstop
24. Hello all, I have a valve amp and I was wondering how often I need to be looking at changing the valves. Is there a way in which I can test the efficiency or the life of the valves already in the amp? Are there any other componants I need to look at in order to make sure it's in good working order? If I do need to change valves, are there particular ones that I need to buy to match the amp or the power rating? Do valves even have a bearing on the power rating? Any information gratefully received. Was thinking of sending it to a tech to give it a once over, but I'd like to know if there's anything I can do at home to see how well it's working. Cheers Alex
